Re: Newton Aycliffe v Darlington

Was talking to Alun Oliver who is involved with Aycliffe who played Shields on Tuesday.
He reckons they are trying to sign Beck!!

New Sports Hub

I see the council have announced the redevelopment of Eastbourne Sports Complex yesterday. 1.6 mill and Darlo Town r benefitting from new ground and pitch according to their twitter account. I realise this facility will not be developed to the standard we need but curious if we were ever interested ...

Re: Ben Liddle

So with the Liddle signing, does Alun go with 442 so he can play both Beck n Hazel and perhaps Moke and Liddle in the middle with Felix/Rivers on the right and Lambert/ Maddison on the left? 433 doesn’t fit if both Beck n Hazel play. 352 means no wingers and the untried Emery at the back. Or persist...

Re: Southport v Darlo

From the highlights, the first offside goal was onside for me and the second one was more debatable.
Certainly looked like we were the better side but didn’t get any breaks in the box and they defended really well when down to 10 men.

Re: What is your Darlington best 11?

Sorry but I think you’ll find we have attained the lofty heights of what is now the Championship, albeit for just two seasons 😊 15th I think we reached the first season, our highest ever finish.

Re: Covid

Probably also means we will be someone else’s Guiseley the first game back. We will be totally ring rusty against our first league opponents back since our squad can’t train. Suppose other teams have had to go through it. The other thing to note from this, by the time we restart we could be 8 games ...

Re: Middlesbrough game

First game of preseason today for me and got to say I was really impressed. Goalkeeper is a good organiser and distribution was very good. Trotman was his usual self. Biggest compliment I could pay him was he didn’t stand out like last season due to those around him. Liddell just like Trots but down...

Re: Salford away day

I might be being a tad optimistic but like a few others have said above, there's talks of loads going who don't normally go.

We took approx 1000 to Harrogate and my guess from talk around would be about the same.

What does their ground hold?

Re: Nathan Thomas v Pool

I think people need to remember that we are part time and therefore Martin only has limited exposure to work with the squad. Nathan Thomas went to Plymouth on a full time contract where the coaching set up down there can work with him day in day out. It will make a massive difference.

Feeling more optimistic

I posted on here last week feeling a little flat about lack of news on signings and back to Darlo, so went to BM last night to buy family season tickets. I was only there for 15/20 minutes but was surprised at how busy it was. Anyway, bought tickets and a couple of new home shirts (which are very go...

Bored

I know it's close season but how boring is it at the moment? Since our flurry of signings last month, nothing has happened, publicly at least. I think we all recognise we are still shy of a few players so hopefully we ll see Martin making some movement before the lads get back to pre season training...

7 Days

A friend of mine told me at the weekend that we have put 7 days in for Theo Furness from 'Synners' - Midfielder.

Has been playing in Iceland I think. Has been a stand out player for them thus far this season apparently.

Re: Darlo v Harrogate RA Match Thread

From where I was stood (at the barrier looking straight at the Thompson tackle), it was a penalty since their lad took Thommo's leg before he hit the ball. However, I can see from where the ref was stood and as shown on the highlights that from the other angle, it looked like the defender got the ba...

Early season defensive problems

Was thinking about the potential defensive issues we have at the moment with Gary Brown out injured and Joe Tait left for Gateshead leaving Jordan Robinson as the only recognised central defender in the squad Could we play a different formation until Gary is fit and available? Something like a 3/5/2...

Season Tickets

For those interested in current numbers sold, I've been down to the shop today to order my season tickets (me and 2 kids) and we have sold around 600.

Think we are on par with the same time last year.

Gateshead

I see our old boys (Chandler n the 'Hitman') both scored tonight in what was a good win for them.

However the crowd of 273 is as low as I think i've heard of for that level.

Guess the Man U game had a big affect.

Re: clearing the pitch

There may be another problem with Saturday's fixture (even presuming we get enough people and time to clear the pitch Saturday morning) going ahead. The lads we are playing will be travelling across the pennines and when we get the snow that is forecast on Friday/Saturday, then the roads across are ...
