Re: Signings

I suppose what we do know, as much as you can know anything in football, is that these players did well together for Armstrong at Blyth - that should lead us to believe they can do similarly well for him at Darlington. The question mark is how much the likes of McGuire and Jameson, who we haven't go...

Re: Signings

Just shows how Tommy got his signings horribly wrong with his crazy contracts and could even mean not a single player who he signed will be here under AA.With the exception of Trotman and Nicholson who may be leaving through location issues, the others have fallen short. Re: Signings

Would assume we would want a fee for Trotman before we let him go with sell on clause. Apparently a really nice lad who has caught the eye playing for England C. Think AA has already brought someone in who can cover that position but would be nice to get some money. Yes agree, I'd be annoyed if we ...

Re: Signings

Has Jameson become a decent keeper since he left us? He always was a decent keeper. IMO he was very good in the Evostik and competent in the NLN, even when he started making mistakes. Half of the fan base had an exaggerated dislike of his abilities. It's probably likely that he has improved since t...

Re: Notts Co. takeover - Darlo link

Never heard the name, but the quote in which he mentions us talks about us 'going on to be promoted' - so he's either from way back (ie late 80s) or he's being very creative in his wording and us 'going on to be promoted' refers to 2012 onwards when his involvement would have related to Reynolds/Hou...

Justin Edinburgh

Dead from a hear attack at 49.

I know it's not Darlo related but a lower league manager who was making a name for himself. Very sad news.

I remember him playing for Tottenham in the 90s.

Re: Curtis Main

I think he left during the FA Trophy winning season - was definitely Cooper who got rid, I remember away at Bath where he made a comment about Main standing around picking his nose in his post-match interview. We had Chris Senior, the Hitman, and I can't quite remember who else that season. I know T...

Re: Curtis Main

Pete in talking s*** shocker. Main was clearly a promising player but he was exposed to a lot of expectation very early in his career and at a time when the club was in a bit of mess. Similar to Michael Smith. Both have gone on to much better things since leaving, and it's not a huge surprise. Both ...

Re: Laing

Joking aside, the fact that Armstrong has now brought a decent core of his Blyth team with him (and hopefully a couple more to come) bodes really well for next season. A good core of players who already understand the way he's likely to want us to play, and presumably who all get along well and brin...

Which by the way I'm not against - if the difference between a half fit Wheatley and a fully fit Wheatley is £3k it seems a sensible investment.

Do we have any kind of medical insurance for our players, and if not how much would it likely cost?

Surely the BTB goes towards the club's budget, and if they wish to use a chunk of that to cover the cost of a players medical treatment then the board can make that decision?

I wonder if Spennymoor fans are still in denial of the huge amount of investment going on at their club? You kind of didn’t mind them in the Northern League up to the NPL, they could pay big wages, but we could too and we could compete. However as we have both risen to this level they have blown us...

Not just that, but another 16 investors and we hit 503, which DJ had as a 'dream' target, that of 40% of the core fan base contributing. Hmm, that would make our "core" fan base 1257.5 - wonder how we arrived at that figure (for comparison our average gate last season was 1,391 or 1,394 depending o...

I'd be surprised if he was our new assistant manager, as I don't think he showed enough under TW, with issues regarding our defence and players fitness through last season.
I'd be surprised if he was our new assistant manager too, Pete, seeing as he's already our assistant manager.

No, it's not good enough clearly - however that doesn't mean he's not capable of better if he regains some fitness and the system used suits him. That said, I doubt that the system will suit him if it's primarily one up front as he'll be isolated and unlikely to be mobile enough to cover te ground r...

110% of target is quite something, with possibly more to come. The extra 10k is what, the best part of an additional squad player at this level? Agreed close it when it was originally due to close - it'll have been open for 2 pay-days by that point so I don't many who say they want to pledge will ha...

Pleased with all 3. Didn't know much about Liddle but after reading the Blyth fans opinions it seems he's a quality left back. Rivers, well he's quite well known as a tricky winger. Atkinson, if he's as good as Armstrong says and he can play in midfield then he could fit into that problem defensive...

Lost track a bit with his loans last season, but it's not Vaulks is it? Only other possibilities I can think of would be Kneeshaw maybe having signed a contract on the quiet (or on some kind of gentlemans agreement until he's fit again) - or did we have a young keeper who warmed the bench for us las...

I would guess that we're waiting on whether other targets come to fruition, or perhaps until Armstrong has had a chance to form an opinion on Elliott, before making a decision on whether to take the option on the extra year. Once the 3rd May passed did we lose the control over the situation? 3rd Sa...
