Re: Local clubs released lists
Like most definitely be happy to see Scott Barrow next season. Michael Duckworth is a pretty good RB from memory too might be worth a look. I think Duckworth is a good player. My issue is that it sounds like he doesn't often play. Always has injuries. If he could be fit, then he'd be a very good si...

Re: Tommy Taylor Departs
All the best to Tommy. I'm sure an absolute brilliant lad to have around the changingroom and club. But for me, the right decision. With limited resources the loan route seems to be the best to maximise the position. You think we should just go with a loan keeper next season? What if we can't get a...

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped from R1 in 24/25
Spyman, personally I think that's a terrible idea. That's basically turning the Cup into a money making system. Little club moves fixture to bigger club, bigger club has even more advantage, little club makes a bit of extra cash. Surely most fans wish to see bigger clubs compete on their home turf,...

Re: FA Cup replays scrapped from R1 in 24/25
I did hear a sensible(ish) suggestion the other day whereby the 3rd round onwards is seeded, so you have 64 teams split in to 2 pools of 32. These two pools are drawn against each other and the lower ranked team chooses whether they play the game at home or away - so Mansfield draw Man City and get ...

He was offside though, so it's not farcical. Whether it was appropriate to use VAR for a decision that wasn't clearly and obviously wrong is questionable, and a different discussion, but the ultimate outcome was correct whether it spoiled the underdog story for you or not. And when they fail, they'll blame the previous Tory government. To be fair, the "previous Tory government" spend most of their time blaming things on an opposition that hasn't been in power for a decade and a half! I'm not a fan of the labour party in their current guise but I'd take them over the ...

Re: Gateshead - ineligible for playoffs
I sincerely doubt the council are doing it for fun. Council budgets have been slashed to shreds since 2010. Particularly the ones that have been deemed to have voted incorrectly. They simply don’t have the money. This country is in an abysmal state and it ain’t local councils to blame. Wake up. Fee...

Re: Chester Away All ticket
I didn't think he was injured to be honest just thought he was a desperate and ultimately poor signing. Having disappointing signings who end up persistently injured is not a particularly recent phenomenon. We had a brief reprieve from it when we had most players on non-contract terms but otherwise...

Re: Chester Away All ticket
Don't forget we've already seen what he can offer over 7 glorious games under Clowning. You could say that about most of the squad. I'm not suggesting Asante is going to suddenly come good, there's clearly fitness issues that look like they may be unresolvable, but to judge a player based on their ...

Hope he starts and does well, best for everybody concerned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk He's starting - so he must've been fit enough to make the squad for a couple of weeks at least. Watson must've just decided it wasn't worth the risk throwing him in while others were doing the business. H...

Well, the club have released an official statement opposing the decision.
I think momentum will grow with this over the next few days.

Re: Once the dust settles...
I think one of the prime examples has got to be Accrington Stanley. There hospitality options for the size of their club/stadium/fan base are awesome, and you can see why the owner has spent so much money in recent years upgrading specifically in to that side of the business "losses last season of ...

Re: Steve Watson - 2 year contract confirmed
Very positive move by the club. Encouraging that Watson has stated the squad only needs a few tweaks over the summer to make us competitive, and that promotion over the next couple of seasons is the aim. Whether thats realistic/sensible is neither hear nor there but its the right message and a 180 c...

Re: Once the dust settles...
I agree that the EFL is fundamentally a bit of a dream, and spending money upgarding BM to even just NL standard would have some benefit to match day experience. But wouldn't we still be incredibly restricted in our revenue generation on non match-days? I personally would be very loathe to put furt...

Re: Once the dust settles...
I am not sure that even close to a majority of clubs are 'properly going for a play off place'...wouldn't suggest it is the norm by any stretch. I disagree. I reckon 50% of clubs properly go for a playoff place. We are basically at the end of the season and ten clubs are in with a shout of a play o...

Why do threads always descend into personal point-scoring? I don't really care if someone thought Gowling should have been given more time, or if Martin Gray was the only man to get us out of the mess, or if the signing of an injured Asante was an egregious assault on our very existence as a fan ow...

Re: Once the dust settles...
Competitive sport is (or should be) about winning every single time. If not, then what's the point? That doesn't mean it should be the expectation, but you can't tell a manager or a player to only try to win half their games. If we were to go up (can't believe we're seriously having this discussion ...

Obviously not but for the record I thought there was no point in getting rid of Gowling because someone like Watson would not want to walk into that mess. Delighted to have been proved wrong on that. I doubt that very much due to your constant defending of Gowling and the fact that applicants such ...

I think we'll need to deepen the squad a bit if we're to do well next season. We have been quite lucky over the last few weeks that injuries haven't hit too hard (other than a couple of long term absentees).

Yeh, Young won't be back. I'm sure a new GK will be a priority, and I'd hope that we have a good chance of securing Cornish and Barrow on contracts. If we can get those sorted early on, move out a few of the squad players/under-performers, then we should hopefully have a decent core of a side to fle...

I'm basing this on the 2 games I've seen this season. Curzon and Warrington away.

Re: When Watson and Mitchell took over…
Things have fallen apart on and off the pitch at Blyth since the takeover. The takeover has yet to go through so we've been hamstrung in terms of recruitment. The old Chairman has been reluctant to invest while he's selling the club and the new chairman unwilling(or unable) to do so as he doesn't o...
