Re: Alfreton away

I'd like to add my voice to those praising the commentaries - excellent for an amateur operation by volunteers. Commentating is a damn sight more difficult than you think until you've tried it. If you don't like it, don't listen - but there are many of us who greatly appreciate the live coverage. Ke...

Sharpest of the lot, did well in the first half, looked dispirited later on. We should hold on to him as long as possible.

Re: Leamington v Darlington

It can't be coincidence that time after time we concede goals within minutes of making substitutions. At Leamington it happened again - two up, against ten men, we start changing the team and formation and fall to pieces. If it ain't broke, don't mend it.

Re: FC United V Darlington match thread

I think it would help if we relieved Styche of the captaincy. He's an individualist and operates best when he's focused on just one thing - scoring goals - and worrying about sorting out the other ten gets in the way. On top of that, up front he can't see the whole picture - he needs to be looking f...

Tannoy

On behalf of everyone who was complaining in the main stand at BM last Saturday, can I make a plea to those in control (?) of the Tannoy to turn the volume down when the music is being blasted out. We couldn't hear ourselves think at halftime, let alone hold a conversation, and at least one person s...

Re: Coming up to the NLN next season from the EvoPrem

There's been a lot of talk about North Ferriby folding at the end of this season... if they do, how does this affect things? Will the FA reprieve one of the relegated three or move an extra team up from below?

Reserves

Darlington Reserves seem to be putting in some decent results lately. Surprised they never seem to get a mention on this site, if only to spotlight any latent talent down there among the Wearsiders - heaven knows we could use some.
Anyone got more info?

Re: The Blackwell Deal

I'm surprised and frankly a bit hurt by the reaction to my post, not least the suggestion that I'm an opposition supporter trying to cause dissension among the ranks. I've been a Darlo supporter for almost 50 years and have put a good four-figure sum into the club in the past couple of years - and a...

The Blackwell Deal

Now we're more or less settled in at Blackwell, is there any chance we could get chapter and verse on exactly what our deal with the rugby club is? How are costs shared, who has which priorities, who gets what from the takings, what rights if any have we to share in the catering provision -- right d...

Re: £25K Needed in the next 3 weeks

I was surprised there wasn't a plea this summer to 500 Club members to pay for a further year's season ticket (taking us to 2020-2021? I've lost track). If half of us agreed it would raise an instant £50,000.

We don't get much info on the reserves. We took over defunct Howden (is that right?) but they don't figure here. Who are they? Who runs them? What's their relationship with the club (eg can they play for the first team if needed / can first teamers play for them? etc) ? Can we have a web presence sh...

I've been given three gift vouchers offering free entry for up to ten people at Delta Paintball centres -- normal entry charge is £10 a head, so that makes each worth up to £100. There are Delta centres at Newcastle and Leeds. Open from around 9am-4pm, time for up to a dozen or more games per visit....

Re: Darlington Building Society

The Morritt Arms has changed hands since those days, now owned by a small group whose other assets include, I think, the country/golf club at Coathham Mundeville. They are rumoured to be keen on community involvement in the Teesdale area, might be worth another approach?

Re: Next seasons playoffs

Six teams in the playoffs.? ... so how does that work if it's a knock-out competition as now? Give two teams byes??? A preliminary round (3rd v 6th and 4th v 5th) to decide who faced the winner of 2nd v 7th in the final? That would mean the 7th team would only have to win two games to get promotion,...
