Re: Darlington v Farsley 13/04/24
For years and years it seemed like whenever we had a big crowd and a must win match we used to wobble . Under Watson and Mitchell we have chalked up win after win after win at home. Utterly brilliant. Survival from where we were is an incredible achievement. Is that the case? Whitby away? Opening m...

Six wins in his last 8 for Watson. That is how many Armstrong managed in his last 8 months. Incredible impact .

In contrast to a few posts above I actually like all of them . Lol . 4 is smartest but also most similar to this season so am really not sure . Be happy with any of these.

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
Some really good posts on this thread. Am struck by how much some people still rate Armstrong and it makes me wonder if am being too harsh. I guess we would have been better off sticking with him rather than having Gowling but I think AA had the longest run with a failing team I have seen. Months an...

Re: Blood on hands/heads must roll
We were fully spent up before Hatfield came in, that’s what we were told. I’m not sure where you think there’s dishonesty, DJ said again at a fans forum whilst JG was in charge that we were overspending. Clearly, nothing has gone to plan this season and the board have stretched the budget in attemp...

Re: Southport
Impressed with Watson's interview again. Just a much more frank and straight forward assessment of the game and our shortcomings than his predecessors. Particularly struck by the line that we defended ok in the match but just had too much defending to do. That absolutely sums up many of the games I ...

In my son's footie team in Yorkshire the county cup is played in two year age bands . . So under 13s might get drawn against under 14s. These goals remind me of those matches . . you don't even get the sense that Chorley are playing well. We are just nowhere.

Re: The Last 6 Fixtures vs Next 6 Fixtures Comparison
Really good opening post. Looking at the fixtures though I can easily see us picking up next to nothing in the next 4 games but hopefully we can find a way to win sooner rather than later. Seems like Burton, Rowe and Lindley all have something about them.

Re: GOWLING OUT
Whatever happens next we need to be giving the team the loudest possible support every game. Our support is one of our strengths at this level and with a lot of young lads coming in I think this is really important . I fear the atmosphere will get increasingly toxic because this has been such a wret...

Was very gutted about Felix. I guess he doesn't really fit a 3-5-2 but . . erm we can say that about quite a few of the squad.

Which players are on the transfer list Darlofan97, if you are able to say? I don't know specific names of those transfer-listed, as they weren't put on the memo sent out to other National League sides. 6 players available for transfer though. Ah sorry missed that reply. Interesting. I guess it make...

Re: Kings Lyn
Paid for the livestream ...commentators were saying it was progress but this was really grim I thought. Really vulnerable looking for both goals and not much pace, attacking threat or ability to link up play for large chunks of the match. Thought Ngandu looked alright in spells but not sure he was i...

I think there have been good signs from both Nelson and Curry this season. Perhaps I have a rose tinted view on Nelson as he would be playing above this level without injury. But he looks fitter and stronger and I deffo think we should stick with him.

I hope I can articulate this correctly without being labelled an idiot, or be being "negative", but... This does all feel a little underwhelming and strangely familiar. Josh Gowling's PPG at Hereford: 1.29 Tommy Wright's PPG at Nuneaton (prior to appointment at DFC): 1.29 Alun Armstrong's PPG at Da...

"Josh welcome to Darlington football club . . . tell us about your playing career". Ah man I can't cope with these interviews. Re: Buxton v Darlo
We have not looked competitive in this division since January despite having plenty of players who are good enough. It’s dire and we need new leadership. Well after being a fan for many years I've seen many situations where the manager is in trouble and the fans are saying that the players are good...

Good for you, but last season & this season are linked whether you like it or not. They literally aren't. Literally. Last season’s collapse can’t just be boxed away and forgotten about though - especially when some of the weaknesses we saw then are prevalent again now. We have not looked competitiv...

Re: Buxton v Darlo
It's glaringly obvious that the formation/system that is being played (a) does not suit the players and (b) leaves us wide open at the back. Most people can see it, and I find it incredible that the management cannot see these issues. You have our full backs being overrun match after match because ...

Of course, some part-time teams do not live within their means. That said, the bottom line is we have a mid-table budget, and we are operating in a league where 21 out of the 24 clubs are part-time, despite what is spun out there in the media (as an example, Chester were incorrectly stated as being...

Re: From bad to worse - AA to go
We should have made a change at end of last season after one of the most shambolic runs in the club’s history but had already extended his contract. Now we are in the position of saying it doesn’t make sense to get rid after 2 games after we let him rebuild the squad. But for me it was keeping him i...

Re: Armstrong not up to the task
Have tried to park what I thought of last season and look at this campaign as a fresh start . However I hadn’t realised what a horrible start to the season we have in terms of fixtures. Very interesting few weeks ahead.
