Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

I cannot believe how some on here have forgotten what an absolutely dire season it has been. Poor summer signings, baffling tactics, changing formations even3/4 times in same game, poor use of substitutes with an odd exception, signing loanees and not playing them, signing clearly unfit players, pla...

Re: Boston V Darlington

Which manager changes a team that won its last match by putting 3 centre forwards on the bench and playing no out and out striker at all! God knows what formation it is today. Maybe another new one of 4-6-0. !
You watch we will score a hatful and be calling TW a tactical genius!

Re: Next season

The fact is that TW had a budget in the summer of £330k which was clearly a very good budget, and probably higher than most of us thought after all the messages around BTB of operating with a much lower one than previous seasons. Whether it was higher or lower than Gray,s doesn’t disguise the fact t...

Re: Darlington V Stockport

Well Tommy thinks “we are a good team”......that’s a bit worrying!

Hope he doesn’t say next something like “ with a couple of additions next season we will be even better” !

We need about 6 strong signings, mentally and physically, at least, and really hope he is not the one to make them!

Re: FANS NETCAFE -this Friday evening.

Maybe just me, but I was amazed that TW,s budget was set at £330k! Appreciate it was reduced as season went on but in terms of his summer recruitment was based on what seems a seriously decent budget. No wonder the play offs were the aim. Makes his underperformance, particularly first half of season...

Re: Darlington V Chester

What is the point of signing players on loan and not playing them even when losing at home? Why play Elliot at left back for 2 games when just signed a left back on loan from a premiership club? Clearly he believes Elliott is a better left back so why on earth sign him? Why when losing 0-1 at home a...

Re: Statement from the board

Does anyone know exactly when TW is contracted until, hopefully only until the end of season. Of course we need to support the team in next few games and the sensible fans will see that, but only hope the board don’t see it as any kind of vague success if we stay in this Division and decide to keep ...

Re: Hereford v Darlington Match Thread

Just watched the highlights. 2 things Rob Purdie said after watching us once... 1. “They need to push Ainge up front for last few minutes and try something different.” Why on earth when a goal down does TW never do that? 2. His final comment, “They lack leaders and strength.” Sums it up really! We r...

Re: Hereford v Darlington Match Thread

How on earth can 42% of people on here seriously want them to be still the management team next season? Beyond belief. Remember the Chester management team saying somewhere how surprised they were that Darlo had become so weak and “nice” after the game at their place, it just wasn’t the type of team...

Re: Telford V Darlington

As we know, I am not a fan of TW at all and of course he has to take a large amount of responsibility for what is a very poor and disappointing season, how can he not? Would say his signings are about 50/50 with some technically good players for sure but some shockers as well. Problem is that whilst...

But I'm talking about the last 12 mths not the one previous. Totally accept what was done then was completely wrong and yes Beck, Bartlett, ferguson etc helped her s through that period. Surely though, at the end of last season the board set the budget for this current season based on the forecasts ...

Re: Early Bird Season Tickets

Surely though in last 12 months we have had the most " unbudgeted" amount of income we have had since we reformed ie. £50k fans, £20k celebration, current 500 club extension, plus sales of Heaton, styche, Gillies, Turnbull etc so on your argument we should be on a better place than we are. Don't tel...

Re: Early Bird Season Tickets

We seem to be in just a complete mess again! The 500 club extension obviously hasn't been taken up by as many as needed so now we resort to offering reduced price season tickets for next year , 2 months before this season finishes! It's just again taking future income to fix a current issue! That's ...

Definitely for real! Never doubted his love and passion for the club and a nice guy as well it seems. However, a few weeks ago I would say 90% of the fan base had had enough of him based on putting us in a relegation battle, many poor signings, lack of tactical nous, terrible football being played w...

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM

Thought we did well for 80 minutes and need a goal scorer desperately to put away all the chances we created. Thought Ainge was outstanding again and is a much better centre half than forward and Wheatley can play at a higher level. What I just don’t get however is when 1-2 down with 7/8 minutes to ...

We are much improved from a few weeks ago but still lack a cutting edge up front. If we had played with the same energy and work rate in other games then we would be fine. We know Nelson has made a difference but in my view Smith has made an equally telling contribution and thought he was outstanding today, getting Trotman out of trouble a few times. Wheatley also makes us strong...

What about an option where we are allocated let’s say a training pitch within the Sports Village but with the potential to develop it into our own stadium over as many years as it takes, even if that was 5-10 years say. Darlofan97 is spot on. Yet again, he changed the team and knowing that Hughes may not last 3 games in a week, he actually left Burn out of the squad completely. Getting really tired of the same issues week after week and them not learning from them. 3-5-3 just does not work with the players we have ...

No problem with Thompson but would have played him in the centre alongside the other 2 like in a recent away game.
Bit of a stretch to say he set Nelson up though.....
No issue with the individuals just cannot fathom TW,s game management and tactics most of the time. He could have cost us today

TW,s tactical nous!

Firstly, I am as chuffed as anyone that we won today, and what a goal to win the match by a player who TW has done incredibly well to bring to the club, even if for a short period. However, this game again for me showed exactly why my negative view of him has not changed one bit. Let’s be honest we ...

The answer to what’s going on is in your post. Without that income we’d have been gone. You keep br...

It’s just a complete mess, we have sold basically many of our best players, Heaton, Turnbull, Gillies, Styche, Syers, O’Hanlon, presumably all bringing in cash, with some decent amounts among them . We received an extra £20k for the goal celebration, the fans raised £80k, and we are still averaging ...
