Re: Gloucester V Darlington

It’s not a massive whinge at all! Completely agree that the squad is better than last year, think AA is doing a good job and actually enjoy watching us play now, no issues. Had we not had the injuries, believe we would have had a much better start. All I am saying is that every recent season has see...

Re: Gloucester V Darlington

If divas is right, then that really annoys me because they just never seem to learn and we end up in a difficult financial position half way through season or simply cannot sign reinforcements. Absolutely the board said that we would Not spend the full budget up front as they had learned their lesso...

Re: King’s Lynn

Agree with earlier post, just seems same story but with a different manager and players. We don’t need defenders who can do Cruyf turns or ping 70 yard passes....we need them to be able to defend!!, and in nearly every game there are periods when they simply are not! Again, lovely skilful footballer...

Re: Darlington V Kettering

Think AA deserves a huge amount of credit. He has put this squad together at very short notice, got them playing attractive attacking football and yet also reduced the budget significantly. They also seem like a group of players who will give 100% every game win or lose and clearly already have a go...

Re: Gateshead game...

First half was same old story, unable to play against a well organised physical team who defend deep and close us down. We were shocking to be honest, resorting to long balls to our short forward line! No plan B. Second half was a lot better, getting the ball forward much quicker and using the width...

Re: Motherwell game

Thought some of our players looked so much better that this time last year, fitter, shape and looked like they will all give 100%. Atkinson looks a class above, thought Laing did well and his distribution was very good. Keeper looked the part and Hatfield also had a very good game. Good signs with G...

Re: Adam Campbell

Agree, unless Campbell comes good, not sure where the goals are going to come from. AA says that Thompson will play behind the striker not out wide. Think he is brilliant but never really seen him play that well apart from out wide, so will be a real success for AA if he gets him playing well in tha...

Re: New signings and outgoings

Agree, Hereford and York have made some fantastic signings, experienced, solid tried and tested players and would not be surprised if they were not battling each other for the champions.
As usual, money, with the odd exception wins most leagues and we don’t have any unfortunately!

Re: Transfer Rumours

Noticed Scott Fenwick liked AA message about players asking for inflated wages etc. Maybe completely wrong but he seems the sarcastic sort so maybe a dig at AA. To be honest I would probably have been ok with Fenwick and Sweet so a bit disappointed that they have gone to Blyth. Didn’t like Fenwick l...

Still don’t get, if true, why we will not be approaching people. In every part of life, employers try and poach the best people out there to improve their business and performance. Fine, invite applications absolutely, but surely be also approaching the people they believe will be best for the job t...

Completely agree and a bit disappointed really. They obviously have known TW was leaving so surely should have drawn up a shortlist of potential candidates and be approaching them in order. Can’t imagine any serious candidate is going to apply who is not on this forums list so board should have been...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay

I cannot believe how some on here have forgotten what an absolutely dire season it has been. Poor summer signings, baffling tactics, changing formations even3/4 times in same game, poor use of substitutes with an odd exception, signing loanees and not playing them, signing clearly unfit players, pla...

Which manager changes a team that won its last match by putting 3 centre forwards on the bench and playing no out and out striker at all! God knows what formation it is today. Maybe another new one of 4-6-0. !
You watch we will score a hatful and be calling TW a tactical genius!

Re: Next season

The fact is that TW had a budget in the summer of £330k which was clearly a very good budget, and probably higher than most of us thought after all the messages around BTB of operating with a much lower one than previous seasons. Whether it was higher or lower than Gray,s doesn’t disguise the fact t...

Well Tommy thinks “we are a good team”......that’s a bit worrying!

Hope he doesn’t say next something like “ with a couple of additions next season we will be even better” !

We need about 6 strong signings, mentally and physically, at least, and really hope he is not the one to make them!

Re: FANS NETCAFE -this Friday evening.

Maybe just me, but I was amazed that TW,s budget was set at £330k! Appreciate it was reduced as season went on but in terms of his summer recruitment was based on what seems a seriously decent budget. No wonder the play offs were the aim. Makes his underperformance, particularly first half of season...

Re: Darlington V Chester

What is the point of signing players on loan and not playing them even when losing at home? Why play Elliot at left back for 2 games when just signed a left back on loan from a premiership club? Clearly he believes Elliott is a better left back so why on earth sign him? Why when losing 0-1 at home a...

Re: Statement from the board

Does anyone know exactly when TW is contracted until, hopefully only until the end of season. Of course we need to support the team in next few games and the sensible fans will see that, but only hope the board don’t see it as any kind of vague success if we stay in this Division and decide to keep ...

Just watched the highlights. 2 things Rob Purdie said after watching us once... 1. “They need to push Ainge up front for last few minutes and try something different.” Why on earth when a goal down does TW never do that? 2. His final comment, “They lack leaders and strength.” Sums it up really! We r...

How on earth can 42% of people on here seriously want them to be still the management team next season? Beyond belief. As we know, I am not a fan of TW at all and of course he has to take a large amount of responsibility for what is a very poor and disappointing season, how can he not? Would say his signings are about 50/50 with some technically good players for sure but some shockers as well. Problem is that whilst...

Surely though in last 12 months we have had the most " unbudgeted" amount of income we have had since we reformed ie. £50k fans, £20k celebration, current 500 club extension, plus sales of Heaton, styche, Gillies, Turnbull etc so on your argument we should be on a better place than we are. We seem to be in just a complete mess again! It's just again taking future income to fix a current issue! That's ...
