What has just happened was like a promotion.
And should be celebrated as such.

On the outskirts of towns increasing the footprint?

Re: "Idiotic and reckless behaviour does not support our cause"
If these people were ostracised/shunned by their peers - that would work better than anything else. A pipe dream maybe? This. Unfortunately we seem to have too many apologists in our fanbase who are willing to make excuses and justify this kind of behaviour. That sounds very un-Labourish - have you...

FT Darlington 3-1 Gloucester City
A very solid start - the first steps to the return of the Darlo vs Chokers derby in 2023/24.

Sad news about Poolie’s Mr Ripper
I was catching up on things over in Chokerville and was shocked/saddened to see that Mr Ripper has passed away. I remember many jousts with the copper-topped fella during the height of the Darlo/Pools messageboard war. His passing is especially poignant as he was a victim of the same awful disease t...

Re: Darlington FC Hall of Fame
If we’re talking of those still living, Smudger and Lidds should be first in. Gabbiadini can follow but he can wait for his shithousery. As for Gabbiadini and his shithousery, as you so eloquently put it, I have it from a good friend of his that he arranged to meet Reynolds on three occasions to di...

I must say, I’m getting a bit tumescent down here in Sussex at this current run.
I’m even starting to look at my diary for dates to come back to Monte Darlo for a match.

Re: The Hodgy team of 99/00 - if they had been promoted
It’s always extraordinary to think that team didn’t get promotion. Even with the poor run-in, if we’d only drawn with Northampton at home in April rather than lose (1-0 courtesy of a former Hanger, IIRC) we’d have been promoted. It would have all collapsed the following season, mind. I have always ...

I was just thinking of Luke and recalled him being as reasonable as Reynolds was bonkers and IMO this write-up supports my view:

Nigel Pepper - 1990/91 season
Can anyone confirm my vague recollection that Nigel Pepper got sent off three times against Darlo in the 1990/91 season (we played York in the FA Cup as well in case you’re wondering how it was three times)?
If so, that’s a cracking stat.

Re: Footifan returns
He became Mr Darlo to me in the years following the move to the Arena. A force of nature that still had so much more to give to the club. One of the best fundraisers you’d ever meet - he could get blood out of a stone and what he did for Darlo and the Dog Rescue Home in Texas was inspiring. This phr...

Re: Darlington Attendaces - One for the Oldies
Saw a picture on Facebook showing results on 12 October 1968 Showing Darlington drew 0-0 with Rochdale in front of a crowd of over 7000. That season Darlington finished 5th, so just missed out on promotion and Rochdale went up, so fair to assume it was a top of the table clash. Further checks here ...

Re: The Bizarre Stadium That BANKRUPTED A Football Club
It’s a long video so I scrubbed through it but as soon as I heard the section where he was saying it was mad of someone to think Darlington would get 25,000 crowds at home to Torquay I switched off. It wasn’t built for Tier 4. The madness was that Reynolds thought he could achieve top flight footbal...

Spot the Quaker
I’ve just remembered this from the 80s - for those not familiar, the aim was to find a small man wearing a Quaker’s hat somewhere in the newspaper and you could win a prize. Was it in something called The Advertiser?
I’m sure some weeks they didn’t actually put the Quaker in the paper.

The “Never Kissed a Tory” paraphernalia says everything you need to know about the looney lefties in the Labour Party/Momentum. Funnily enough, I’ve never come across such people in the real world. Only on social media, where they tweet all day and they all look like the losers you’d find in Antifa:...
