Re: Alun Armstrong 2 part interview from Non-league daily

Great Interview and he comes across really well. On the basis of those articles, it seems he is destined to go higher One thing surprised me. He said he would never sign a player without meeting them first. I never realised other managers did sign players that had not met! Seems to be a pre requisi...

Re: Darlington V Alfreton

I like that line up. But I would put Campbell in from the start and have Reid on the bench.. I just think that Campbell would be better playing off Martin, and I think his pace would worry the Alfreton backs.

Re: Spennymoor game off

Given the amount of rain that had fallen it would have been prudent to get a local ref to have a look at the pitch in good time. They didn't and allowed fans and players to travel, even issuing assurances that everything was OK.Of course, once the ref deemed areas of the pitch unfit, they immediate...

Re: Harrogate Match

Harrogate haven't changed their starting eleven for the last 4 games. So if they are going for it then it will be like the below from the game v Maidenhead. With Falkingham and Will Smith starting and Beck on the bench. Belshaw, Falkingham, Burrell, Emmett (Kiernan 73), Bradley, Stead (Beck 62), Ke...

I hate the long ball football that was churned out by Solihull last night and they got what they deserved in my opinion. I hated it when Gray did it, I hated it when Wright did it and I hate it now. Their main tactic last night was to lump it high and long to feed the big lads up front... I have no...

Interesting to re-read page 2 of the spennymoor thread. everyone predicting that this was going to be a very bad decision. These comments were all given well before the game.

I can;t believe that in today's age of Health and Safety that the mess of yesterdays game took place, Social media was full of the possibilities of poor crowd control all morning, including this message board. Well. What can I say about the game yesterday.. I thoroughly enjoyed it as did several members of my family who came up for Christmas and joined me at the game.. Unfortunately it will be a while before they get chance to see Darlo play again. I thought Darlo deserved the win and played by far the be...

Re: F A TROPHY DRAW ~ ROUND 2 ~ home to Harrogate

Agree with the above that it’s far from a great draw. Trophy is a bit of a weird competition in that only some of the National League sides actually take it seriously. You get a lot of odd results and surprises, particularly in the early rounds. So as Mister E says, get past Solihull and then Harro...

Re: F A TROPHY DRAW ~ ROUND 2 ~ home to Harrogate

Great draw & as I said on another thread it will bring in a few extra fans on Wednesday. It could have been a home game against poolie!! Well, for my opinion. I think it is a very poor draw for us.. As Ghost says, they are a bankrolled team. They are also a full time team and as such will be a very...

Re: Full blackwell

To fill the ground you need the opposition to take up their full allocation of tickets.
I would be very surprised if they bring 50 fans to the game, especially now that it is on the tv..
I would be happy (and surprised) if we get somewhere near 2000.
Hope i'm wrong mind.

Re: Most Consecutive Wins ?

Not sure what our record is but we've won more than 6 in a row in all competitions fairly recently. You can see the recent results on http://www.darlostats.co.uk/ During the 2012/13 Northern League season we won 17 games on the bounce between Boxing Day 2012 and the 15th April 2013. During the 2014...

Side note, a bird s*** on me when I was walking home after the game. I have little time for either side to be honest. Clearly remember Bolton when Phil Garside was in charge during their time in the top flight, He put the suggestion forward to the premier league to close and prevent promotion into that league. If I remember correctly he did the same with the Champion...

I think we should forget about Maguire if York and Spendy want to chuck money at players then we need to walk away, we still are an attractive club to many a player at this level so we should be able to bring in a decent couple of strikers. Don’t understand why we’d need to walk away. We offer him ...

Whilst I don't normally agree with you Polarbear as you are a very strange person at the best of times but on this one I do agree. Spenny have offered eye watering money to 3 Blyth players, and you can bet your bottom dollar that a) we want all 3, b) they won't all get a regular game there, and c) it's more about denying Darlo than improving their squad. I laughed out loud. Spenny signing a player just to deny you lot? Are you...
