Re: Liam Connell - Boost the Budget

Depends if you’re happy with 13th/14th place or not. We all want the club to finish as high as possible but we also have to be sensible with what we spend money on too. Elliott is not a bad keeper but Connell is better on what we have seen. However the deal has to be right for the club and we cant ...

Re: Hospitality price for K'minster game.

Unless I've misunderstood this it seems that season ticket holders and 500 club members miss out - which is isn't a good policy. From the club site -- "Taking into account that the normal admission price for a home game is £14, then you're only paying £11 for a meal and a programme. Commercial dire...

Re: Democracy under threat.

Well, if I’d ever said that the EU’s standards are better than its member countries, you’d have a point. But as the EU sets *minimum* standards to ensure harmonisation for ease of trade, how can they be better than those of its member countries? Think about it. These minimum standards allow those t...

Re: Democracy under threat.

Fair enough, I'm not a die-hard Conservative or Boris Johnson fan, I'm just a Brexiteer. I'm also not a fan of this deal, as already stated. As I said though, they're answerable to the electorate, and we can create our own laws, rules, and regulations. I don't agree with the EU having ANY say over ...

Re: Democracy under threat.

Anything in the Political Declaration isn't legally binding and is a series of issues up for discussion which may or may not be fruitful / beneficial to one side or another or both, whereas the content of the Legal Text is binding within the agreement. Well yeah you're right, and someone correct me...

Re: Democracy under threat.

The new deal is a minor improvement on May's deal but most of it is pretty much the same. Some of the worst points: 1) It restricts our military action. 2) It restricts our foreign policy. 2) They have access to our waters during the transition period, and any future FTA is dependent on this contin...

And as draw-dropping goes over these past 3.5 years, this has to be right up the top. Leave EU’s twitter feed posted this:

Jeez, Johnson really doesn’t understand Parliamentary Democracy at all Is he just trying to bolster his buffoon character. Re: He fought the law, and the law won

It’s called the Supreme Court for a reason, it’s higher than the High Court - it’s the ultimate arbiter on interpretation of the law, it doesn’t make laws and it doesn’t make political decisions. It sits in judgment when asked to clarify a point of law and when it has already been through the lower...

Re: He fought the law, and the law won

With regards to the Supreme Court, it's not a conspiracy theory to question something. The Supreme Court is only a recent thing (it sounds like an old English tradition but it isn't) as it was set up in 2009. It's my belief that the courts should not have gotten involved in this as it's purely a po...

Re: He fought the law, and the law won

I actually don't see what good BJ resigning would do at this point. He always seemed only a means to get Brexit done and always thought that once we were through that issue he would be voted out quite quickly. I don't see that him going now would be an advantage to anyone. Simply more delay and mud...

Re: Democracy under threat.

Nope, I’ve said that the WA and Trade Deal are linked - the EU say they are linked, not independent of each other. The trade deal will not follow a No Deal as though somehow the EU will just waive the terms of the WA. The EU have consistently said that the 3 outstanding elements of the Withdrawal A...

It hasn’t refused, it just doesn’t like Johnson’s non-mandated No Deal version It didnt like Mays mandated deal version either. In fact Labour have said they only want a deal they agree with and even then recommend to reject it. The commons is full of clowns. If only all of the Tory Party (includin...
