Re: TW - Learning His Trade

A manager is not judged on isolated matches. The fact that a side can win and play well occasionally does not mean that Tommy "has proven he can do it but just needs to find consistency". It shows that Tommy can't put together a side that is consistent, that can gets results and move up the table. H...

Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

Where did you get the figure of 900 season ticket holders from? From a Netcafe back in December. 885 is the number but I rounded up to 900 for arguments sake. On average 650 turn up each game (not sure what a midweek average would be but could be less). So if an average of 650 season ticket holders...

Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

No football club owner is going to vote to unnecessarily increase their losses for 4 unnecessary games We don’t know who voted for and against though, unless you have the results of the vote? It’s not just about cash either though, it gives more opportunity for promotion at Step 3 which some may th...

Re: Step 4 Reorganisation

4 more midweek games isn’t totally what we would want I guess. Makes no odds it will happen if that’s what they want to do. If the article is correct the NLN/S teams voted for 24 clubs as opposed to 22. An extra 2 games home income probably being the motive Extra 2 midweek home games where teams ge...

Re: FANS NETCAFE -this Friday evening.

The net café produced some interesting answers. Interesting that DRFC get 20% from advertising boards. Makes Craig Morley's job harder to cover his salary as he is only bringing in 80% of board sales. Presumably DFC get 20% of sales by DRFC, although this was not mentioned. DFC getting 10% of bar s...

Re: FANS NETCAFE -this Friday evening.

I don’t understand the secrecy around the contractual status of the management team. I’m not sure what purpose it serves to keep it hidden as it is just building frustration on several fronts. It could serve the purpose of avoiding the board the embarrassment of admiting that they chose to extend h...

A good, well written read. Putting over our present position very well. I especially liked his observation of the Rugby club’s permanently faulty club clock, the one that sits inside a piece of brickwork above the clubhouse roof. This clock as we all know is either set at the wrong time or stuck st...

Re: Relegation Watch

TW has put together a fairly lightweight and fragile squad and I can very easily see us losing against Chester, drawing at Nuneaton and then losing at Stockport. In fact I can see a scenario in which we go into the final game at home to Leamington needing a victory to stay up. We will beat Leamingt...

Re: Telford V Darlington

Or 8 in 26...I guess it depends if you want to start your count after a win or before it doesn’t it. Yes, usually when counting the number of games in a bad run one starts at the beginning of the bad run. TW has 5 win in 23 games (including the mighty Stockton). Steve Staunton got the sack for 4 wi...

Gramps, you're constantly on about people being abusive and then you use the worst obscenity I can think of. Double standards methinks and picking up lo over what's clearly a fun remark, petty to say the least. We've won 5, drawn 5 and lost 5 in the last 15 according to Andy and based on what we've...

But I'm talking about the last 12 mths not the one previous. Totally accept what was done then was completely wrong and yes Beck, Bartlett, ferguson etc helped her s through that period. Surely though, at the end of last season the board set the budget for this current season based on the forecasts...

It was the lighter side of following Quakers that really got me thinking about Tommy's troubles; while looking at the Dave Booth archive at Barnard Castle Bowes Museum I ...

Signs of an "uplift"? We have one win in 6 games. Or you can say we’ve had 4 defeats in 13. 1 defeat in 4. 4 clean sheets in 7. It’s easy to pluck up different ways to make the stats look okay or utter shite. Yes, but I notice none of your stats mention wins, which do tend to matter more than aythi...

Re: Do The Wright Thing

Signs of an "uplift"? We have one win in 6 games. We perked up when Nelson came in on loan but that's about it. If you assess Wright over the whole season then he has done a poor job, trouble is people assess managers based on the last few games only. It's the same as last season i.e. go through a d...

Re: National League Stadia

Replace S & S with DMPRFC and also increase those bills by 7 years work of inflation. The big difference is that DMPRFC are meeting those bills now. S & S never did, they owned the stadium but did not run it. A match day lease benefits DMPRFC, if they ask too much then we clearly wouldn't move there.

why would a move back to the arena kill the club? Remember those 3 administrations we were in ? That. We owned the Arena in those days, now we'd just be tenants, which is completely different. We owned the stadium for 2 or 3 (?) seasons. Then we were tenants. It would be no different. It would be d...

Re: National League Stadia

So how much of the other 6 yard box did you see from the shed at Bishop or virtually any other ground that we visit where you are watching the action from the other end? The far goal at BM is only about 5m further away than if the tin shed was right behind the goal. I'm not talking about Bishop. Yo...

- It was, in the main, open (it had less covered capacity than BM). - There was limited elevation, the shed was smaller than the tin shed, and we had a grass bank that we weren't actually allowed to stand on. Re: National League Stadia

In my opinion BM is an awful place to watch football - large run off areas coupled with no height, so that the only way to get a decent view is to go into hospitality. There are large open spaces and it's hard to get a decent atmosphere. It's little wonder we didn't have a return to Darlington boun...

I doubt we’d get 2k it we let everyone in for free unfortunately - that number is just totally unrealistic at the moment. Have we ever hit that number apart from a play off or Spennymoor game? It’s also not relevant to look at the crowd versus the average. Truth is numbers had dropped to around 110...
