Re: Darlington V Rushall
This week has pretty much confirmed for me what our fate will be. The inability to get the required goals and leaking poor goals against two really bad sides says it all really. We are just not good enough to stay in this league. Couple our inadequacies against poor sides with lots of inevitable de...

Re: Darlington V Rushall
We've played five home games against bottom half teams and we haven't won any of them, we just aren't catching up and I can't see who we can beat. I think we're almost certainly done for. I have been giving Gowling a chance, but we've just had two winnable home games and we've gone into them without...

Re: Warrington
Pretty much agree with the above. Why on earth did Gowling take Moke off who was having one of his best games for us, instead of Salkeld who was giving the ball away far too much and was poor last night imo.Regarding Tommy, we have a goalkeeping coach and surely it's glaringly obvious he has to star...

Re: Kieran Burton
I’ll be delighted with two 1-0 victories. I'll be happy with two 4-0 victories. Or a 5-0 + 3-0. Or a 6-2 + a 4-2, you get my drift. 1-0 victories would have been OK had we lost 2-0 at Chorley. But we didn't so they're not. Absolutely ridiculous argument. There's a column in the table for goal diffe...

A small bonus, we get 45% of the gate receipts for today, minus VAT and expenses. So at least twice as much as we would have got in prize money.

No, they are resting players. There is very little money to be made from the Trophy unless you get to Wembley.still_darlo wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 5:17 pmTen NLN sides lost to lower league sides today. TEN. Is this a really poor league we're in this year?

Re: The truth
Depends. I don't want us to go out of business, team has been relatively successfully to be honest given the situation we have endured over the last fee years, and given the odd time I have talked to DJ yes he is a football man. I don't want us to go out of business either, but somehow we're not ma...

We need someone with ...

Re: Kieran Burton
Sukar was dropped....offered out to other clubs......and now Gowling needs him back. I am absolutely amazed that people can't see that this is terrible man-management, just like the Tommy Taylor situation. Burton was a massive upgrade on Sukar. Are managers not supposed to drop players for better o...

Re: Friday's meeting
What you usually find from these forums is that the board and management give a really good account of themselves, everyone leaves feeling optimistic and looking forward to the future, and the team carry losing every week. If we could turn our forum form into league form we'd be flying.

Re: The truth
I don't think as a club we are "rotten to the core" but we've been on a downward spiral for the last 11 months for sure. I would like to know how we've got to where we are if we have a top half budget. That takes some mismanagement. The expectations for this season were set so low that there seemed ...

Re: Hazel
Since time immemorial Darlo fans have needed a scapegoat. Hazel is now it. He goes, we get a new striker who doesn't get 20 goals either, and suddenly it'll be another stick to beat Gowling with. I would guarantee that, if Hazel went to Scarborough or Farsley, he would score more goals this season ...

Re: Hazel
Massive mistake to let go the only player at our club who is capable of scoring 20 goals a season. It beggars belief if we sell him. Should be building a side around him, not alienating him while trying to flog him to a rival Building a side around him? I think you mean that unless he has a very go...

This is the entire reason for my next 6 matches thread. No, in his first 6 matches he demonstrated no ability to turn things around, but that was only 6 matches (5 league, 1 cup, 0-2-4), and 6 matches really isn't enough no matter how alarming the initial signs are. The next 6 matches are almost li...

Re: Peterborough V Darlington
People need to start talking about the obvious....which is: 1) The decision to sell Kaine Felix 2) Opting against extending Finlay Barnes' loan 3) The decision to replace neither. Gowling has now finally seen the light & ditched 3/5 at the back, the problem being we now have a squad stacked with fu...

Playing Hazel and Nelson up front will get us relegated.QUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 12:54 pmBest option imo is Hazell and Nelson up front with Salkeld playing wide right and Nkondu wide left, Platt and Hatfield CM and Rowe/Griffiths,Lawlor,Burton and Sukar at the back.
No brainer for me.

Re: Peterborough V Darlington
If Hazel needs a high quality target man to play alongside him, as people keep suggesting, and given that we are very unlikely to find such a player at this stage of the season, then sticking with Hazel up front seems a guarantee of relegation. In fact, if we stick with Hazel/Salkeld/Nelson up front...

Re: Exactly a year ago……
Worth remembering when fans criticise Armstrong - he got us there and it was always about more than Beck and one or two others. There is a lot of trashing of Armstrong on this forum which I strongly disagree with. Last year same as most years he was in charge, he was tasked with getting us into the...

A few days ago the Farsley game was a must win. We won. Now if we lose the next game apparently that must win Farsely game is meaningless!

Re: Farsley
It's interesting that 8 of the 11 today were Armstrong players. Most of the loans Gowling has brought in haven't been an improvement at all. Simms on the bench, Winfield not even in the squad. Maybe Gowling might slow down on his rapid recruitment and work with what he has.

The six matches thread showed this forum at it's best with lots of real support for the club but for me it really comes down to this game. We really have to win it - anything less and I think that's it for this campaign. People talked about the next six matches for a reason, we'll have a realistic ...

Thank God we have DJ at the helm, if he wasn't here I can't image where we'd be, probably bottom of the league and facing relegation to the NPL.

Re: GOWLING OUT
I highly doubt Gowling is going anywhere after six games in charge. The most realistic thing to do it is to stop throwing good money after bad and accept the fact we are probably going to go down. The next two games are very important. We have a fans forum after those I believe, and if JG is still w...

Re: Spennymoor
I’ve employed people over the years who may interview well and have good cv’s on paper but you can sometimes tell very quickly they aren’t up to the job. This is one of those moments for the board to be seriously discussing. We are going backwards quickly. They’d have been better off sticking with ...
