Re: Potential new signings

Andy, always rated Thommo as a player but didn't realise he was a decent vocalist too.

I'd love to stick his head in the stand Gramps! Preferably hard against an iron girder. He's a constant argumentative nuisance who can't accept Brad's publicly stated seven figure investment.

Re: Thommo

What a great servant he's been to our club. Eight years of effort and determination. I'll particularly remember him hiding from that horrible hailstorm in the dugout at Flixton and his destruction of Burscough, a hat trick in a 7-0 win. Thanks and all the best Thommo, club legend.

Re: Boost the budget

So what's the target Spen? You can donate £2 to £100 but no apparent totaliser unless you've put a link on the Spennymoor fans forum. Mind you the safety net of Uncle Brad's deep pockets must be reassuring. Your groundsman seems to have much time on his hands.

Re: Price Of Football (Twitter)

I still think it's pedantic. The likelihood of a non league club getting to the third round AND playing a premier league team is very low. Only Sheffield United v AFC Fylde this year. Around £150.000 in gate receipts. There seems to be little chance receipts wouldn't ever cover VAR costs so it's not...

Re: Price Of Football (Twitter)

He's always here when he should be setting up the Spennymoor forum. If it's £9,500 for VAR what difference does it make whether it comes out before or after? That's just being pedantic.

Spen, you must let us know when you've set up the Spennymoor fans forum. I'm surprised you've not sorted it yet as you've had time during lockdown. I'm sure everyone here is eager to post their opinions on there.

And now after that target was reached we're already £45,000 into a new target after less than two days. Are you still finding our efforts "disappointing"? Once again I'm feeling great pride in being part of something special.

We're perfectly capable of raising funds as required by OUR club. I'm surprised that in the current situation you haven't found time to construct a Spennymoor fans forum site especially considering you're bothering us by posting at ridiculous o'clock.

Re: My first game

My first was at Haig Avenue, Easter Monday 1978. My in-laws from Southport were thankfully with me when someone loudly asked "aren't you a Darlington fan"?! We lost 1-0 and they weren't re-elected that season. A surprise really as they were fourth division champions only five years earlier.

Re: New initiative by the club 'Virtual Tickets'

I'm disappointed that you find this effort disappointing. We have hit so many targets over the years and we will hit this reduced target. When many are already contributing regularly in a number of other ways and families, including some of my own have no income I think this is a tremendous achievem...

Not sure how far back in the day we're going but fascinating to see Aston Villa, Manchester City, West Brom all in the mix for re-election with Stoke being voted out in 1890! Imagine how different things might have been if these had gone ahead. Our friends in blue and white stripes top the table. St...

Anyone else "virtually"off to Southport on Saturday? Friendly pint in the club bar beforehand. It's a fixture we always get to so I'll be chipping in at the weekend. It's a nice change to put money in the away teams coffers!

Hopefully if there is a vote people will accept the democratic decision even if they don't agree with it. Many have said there's no easy answer but maybe it's just a case of making the best of it. Unprecedented times and to be honest I couldn't care less about football with so many family, friends a...

I'm pretty sure we'll hit the target based on our previous efforts. It's a tough time for all of us and well done to everyone who contributes. It's understandable if people can't but there's still 26 days to go and people might be chucking in as games come up. I wouldn't have travelled but I'll be p...

Re: Season VOIDED

Reflecting on the coin toss idea, 50 years ago Liverpool were tied with Cologne in the European Cup. It went to a third game at Feyenoord's ground, the reds two up but it ended 2-2. Went to a coin toss and big Ron Yeats called tails. The coin stuck on its side so a re toss and the reds went through....

I've been to Aldershot once to watch Darlington, pretty sure it was around 2009 and we lost. The thing that struck me was the row of drummers, best I've ever heard at a footie ground.

Well done for your stint in that outfit! Good luck and thanks for all your efforts. My visit to a damp Victoria Ground didn't put me off either unlike our auto windscreens trip to Burslem where we nearly froze to death.
