Re: Small clubs in the north west
The thing is, regardless of whether we stay fan owned or have a wealthy owner, we will eventually find our level. Fan owned we are probably close to our level. With some luck we can probably rise another level and at an absolute push at some stage return to League 2 although probably only for a ver...

Re: Darlington V Southport
I know it's early in the season but just for a bit of continuous comparison, am I right in thinking that we have more points at this stage than at this point last year after 5 matches? After 5 games last season: P5 W1 D2 L2 F10 A12 Pts 5 After 5 games this season: P5 W2 D1 L2 F8 A7 Pts 7 Thanks Mik...

Re: Darlington V Southport
Great result. Maybe this time we will be able to follow it up at Altrincham next weekend. Good to see the goals starting to be shared around and after last Monday's defensive nightmares a clean sheet as well. A little disappointed with the attendance but I am hopeful of being able to get to a few mo...

I know it's early in the season but should we be a bit concerned about the goals conceded and the manner in which we have let them in???

Re: Gateshead game...
Listened to the majority of the match. Pretty frustrating but good to get our first point and at least we are off the mark! Seemed defence still needs some work and maybe Laing could be the one to be taken out of the firing line maybe for Heaton. In attack it seemed that we worked the ball well just...

Re: Farsley V Darlington Match Thread
Seems like they played to the conditions on a pitch they are obviously going to be more use to and this is potentially going to a problem as pitches at this level are not going to be flat carpets suited to play an attractive passing game. Can't argue with the calibre of the players AA has brought in...

Expectations 19/20
Well, now that AA has overhauled the squad and the preseason friendlies are over, this time next week we will be mulling over the result of the first competitive game of the 19/20 season. But what are everyone's expectations considering the changes to the squad, preseason performances etc.? Personal...

Re: Josh Heaton
He’s currently on trial, I’m amazed given the amount of defenders we have including Burn! Would love him back at the club but not sure we can afford to have four centre backs. I've lost track of the CB's we have but if Galbraith is not included then he can possibly revert back to LB or midfield cov...

Re: Motherwell game
My worry this season, at the moment, is up front. Campbell wants to be a number 9 but isn't exactly tall and Thommo used as a number 10, again not the tallest. Both will and have been given the impression of first Xl starting slots and to me it feels a little like trying to shoe-horn them in. The sy...

Nicholson has ended up at Hereford, they will be worth a punt for a top 7 finish.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I don't really know why there is a sense of panic that we have gone quiet on the transfer front. It's close-season and clubs are on holiday, the next few days will start to see some movements again. Just got to be patient.

Re: Jordan Nicholson released
With Wright gone Nicholson was always likely to want to play back down south. A talented player but very lightweight for this league. Wonder if he ends up at Stratford. A bit disappointed to see him leave as he was one positive signing that had a bit of end product and a consistent contributor to w...

Re: Gateshead relegated to NLN
So what are the differences between what happened to us and Gateshead? We were heavily punished 7 years ago and forced to start from the Northern League, not even the Evostik Northern Premier, yet Gateshead have only been demoted the one division. Was it our previous history of administrations that ...

Re: Signings
In our last away game at Guisely, Ainge looked bored and out of sorts - he was just going through the motions, but not very well. In fact the situation that day reminded me of the final games of Andy Crosby back in 98, a good player who wanted away and quite simply couldn’t be arsed. True. However,...

Re: Signings
I wouldn't write Ainge off just yet. His versatility is a plus point in what will be a smallish squad and I would think he will be given another chance up top with the signings that are being made. It may just be that with a more creative midfield and the right supply he may find the goalscoring for...

Re: Signings
Interesting article with Armstrong in the Non-League Paper, talks about sustainability and how the north-east heart has been missing from the club recently with our recruitment, something which is important to him. Not wrong there in my opinion. At this level it is far safer to build the core aroun...

Could this be classed as a bit of a shock result? We know that South Shields are similar to Spendy in financial clout, are Warrington still running off their cup run or do they have significant financial investment?

Re: Feethams or the Arena
It's a tough one. Feethams was a traditional stadium, in the heart of the town and was quite appropriate for a club of our size. However, the idea of the Arena wasn't wrong it was just way too much too soon. Feethams was simply patched up and with health and safety requirements becoming stricter at ...

Re: BM or HP
BM is far better. I had a much better viewpoint at HP because I always stood on the (out of bounds) embankment. When the embankment was enforced close (as it was supposed to be every game), the view was the same as BM. This is what I can't get my head round too. I have been to BM twice now and I'll...

Re: Darlington V Leamington
Well today's match seemed to sum up the season to an extent, although it was the first and last I have attended this season - ironically the last match I attended was Tommy's first match Vs Brackley last season! Started the game a little uneasy with some misplaced passing letting Leamington in on a ...

I'm sure there's a direct correlation between those that incessantly moan about Blackwell and those who think moving back into the white elephant is a good idea. We've worked with, and improved Blackwell since we've been there, and it's a work in progress. Yes, I think the rugby club have been pett...

Re: Tommy Wright: 19/20 Season. Yay or Nay
And if I fail to reach targets, then I can expect to lose my job. TW has massively failed to reach his target this season. He's also failed in elements of his job, like getting players to turn up for training. Except we're about to lose half our team because they're loanees. So another rebuild in t...

Re: TW - Learning His Trade
Depends on what you think Darlo fans are 'throwing the dummy out' about? I accept the club, as fan owned, will have some constraints. However, if it is about management then people are entitled to an opinion and in some way getting this right is key to continued development of the club. At the momen...
