Re: Darlington V Nuneaton

The answer is someone like John Flanagan or Paul Holleran who can organise teams on lesser budgets but use the local loan market really well. I was surprised when Curzon sacked Flannigan as he’d done a brilliant job with the resources he had at his disposal. The only negative I can think of is that...

Re: Darlington V Nuneaton

Relegation would be a disaster. The budget would have to be reduced even more (around 150k plus any BTB). The only positive would be our position at BM. We would have to massively reduce what we paid the Rugby Club, and in fact we would at least have more negotiating power, as potentially we would ...

Re: statement from the club

Can't argue with that although some of this statement could have been made sooner i.e. when Styche was sold as it's obvious that DJ has been implementing this policy for some time. Interesting that DJ mentioned the budget performance being below expected but no reference to the performance on the pi...

Has the date of this game been confirmed? Tuesday 18th December Still no explanation from the club as to why playing Tuesday and not Wednesday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thanks for that, sadly I'll be on a 2 to 10 shift that week, so won't be able to make it. Neither will my mates as Boro ...

Re: Durham Challenge Cup

At least we can concentrate on this now and not have the distraction of a possible trip to Wembley after tonight. Anyone know why we are playing this game on a Tuesday night which clashes with Boro playing in the cup qf? The club told me Tuesday is our designated midweek night which was news to me....

Re: Resignation...

It seems to me that the only argument still being made for keeping tw is that it will cost us money to get rid of him. So is there anybody left that actually thinks he is doing well for us? I do sympathise, I really do, because it's the guy's job and I don't imagine it's well paid. I don't doubt he...

Not forgetting that stunning result for plucky little non-leaguers Salford at the League One big boys. Dont know how they manage to do it. Er, now let me think :o got it ‘Money’ :D Would be interesting to compare their playing budgets. Don’t know what is par for league one but I know a chap who sup...

Re: FA Trophy draw on Monday

Marske Utd home or away would be my choice. I saw them play Stockton in the Vase last season and they were a cut above. Credit to Stockton for beating them over two legs. I didn’t see the first as Darlo were playing North Ferriby at the North Pole. Also looking forward to the Durham cup match next m...

Re: Darlington v Stockport

The issue of the training and all the travelling our non-NE based players are enduring is an interesting one. Back in the day, the echo used to report that Cyril Knowles would have the players report for training at 7am on Sunday mornings after particularly poor performances. I'm guessing this isn't...

Re: The FA Cup banana skins....

If anything, today's regionalised cup draw highlights the southern bias of the pyramid at steps 1 and 2 as there are some teams in our division that we can't be drawn against e.g. Kiddy, Leamington & Brackley spring to mind. A fact that hasn't gone unnoticed by the FA Cup guru himself : https://twi...

Re: The FA Cup banana skins....

City of Liverpool would be good. Had some good crack with their fans last season when they played Stockton in the Vase. They'd bring a couple of hundred I'm sure.

Failing that, one of the NL teams at home. Three won through so far I think.

If darlo play anything like the first half of Monday, s game we will be hammered, however if darlo carry on as they played the second half of Monday we definitely have a chance of getting something from the game. Onwards and upwards with Darlington fc. And if they play like last Saturday it will be...

OK, I'll spell it out... Our CF and best player has been called up for international football to play in a qualifier that gives 'his country' a real shot at playing in a major finals tournament for the first time. Of course he's needed here (more than ever) and the timing isn't great but to seeming...

I hope he gets to play for Gibraltar. Is there anyone on this site who could honestly say if they had a call up to play international football for anyone they wouldn't take it? Always had a soft spot for Altrincham growing up in the 80's hearing about their giant killing exploits. It got to the stage when it was a shock when a league side beat them! One result sticks in my mind - Liverpool 4 Altrincham 1 in the 3rd round of the cup. Believe it or not though, this will be t...

I'll keep this brief... absolutely abysmal!!

No midfield, their winger in acres of space for most of the game. Cant defend crosses, no intensity...

The keeper looks a find though. Well done JM!!

TW - that was unacceptable.
