Re: Darlington V Kidderminster

I'm pretty sure everybody can agree after witnessing a proper solid, grind it out win last night that this team is like chalk and cheese compared to last season's ragtag bunch of overpaid, fat, pea hearted, fancy dan failures. No wonder AA wanted to fuck virtually everyone of them off - it was't jus...

Re: Darlington V Kidderminster

Hard fought win tonight. We missed a couple of chances before we scored. I’ve no idea how the goal was allowed because although their defenders head was slightly down, O’Neills foot was high and he kicked him in the nose which resulted in him being substituted. Bit of luck for once for us, but I wo...

Re: Most Consecutive Wins ?

having thumbed through my copy of frank tweddles ' Quakers make history' : chapter two 'those roaring twenties' it seems that we won six on the bounce in 1924-25 so we're on course to make more history. and there's still the English cup - what a team. :D You've obviously been asleep the last 7 year...

Re: Liam Connell - Boost the Budget

In some ways, I think you can argue keeping O’Neill is more important than keeping Connell, as O’Neill offers something different for us going forward. Ideal world would be to keep both but I’d rather we kept O’Neill. O'Neill is absolutely integral to how we are now playing. Of course O'Neill being...

Re: Darlington V Kidderminster

"Kidderminster" and "decent travelling contingent" do not belong together in the same sentence.

Even in the league they struggled to bring 100.

Kidderminster are a traditional non league club (a big non league club to be fair), and traditional non league clubs do not take numbers away.

I'd like to see us get 1300 to 1400, no home game for a while, plus being on a great run should bring in a few more.
And who other than regulars knows we're on a great run?

Other people only come around when it's all over the press and the team is challenging for promotion.

Re: Darlington V Kidderminster

Kidderminster will bring no fans so I think hoping for 1,500 on a midweek is hopelessly optimistic, and will lead to guaranteed disappointment for you. OK we've won 5 in a row and are playing entertaining football, but the average man in the street won't know that as he'll just look at the league ta...

We could make £22/25k on a 5500 gate. Looking forward to the trip.
But they won't get a 5500 gate. League clubs in round 1 tend to get smaller than average crowds, especially against lower opposition.

The crowd will probably be 3,500-4,000

Yes.
In that case, a bye in round 1 and play our league game whilst banking the prize money - followed by the easiest possible home tie in round 2, and Man U away in the 3rd round.

Re: Tamworth V Darlington Match Thread

Anyone calling for Sunderland away or Hartlepool away (did they get through, I haven't checked?) is short sighted. The OBVIOUS best thing for us is the easiest possible home tie in round 1 because there is £36,000 on it. And we're due a home tie. Then if we get through round 1 - same again please in...

Against Boston we lined up as follows; Connell. Liddle Storey Galbraith Watson. Wheatley Hatfield Holness , Rivers O'Neill Campbell. Available to day we will have Laing Thompson Hedley Donawa Bascome Bell Holliday Elliott. (if all fit) So we have a much strengthened squad to choose from than in the...

Sadly, with my laptop speakers at 100% I could barely hear what Kev Luff, Craig Stoddard and DJ were saying. There is also no way of turning it up on the page either. I could hear the other two guys clearly (Michael Price and Stuart Armstrong is it?) - so what is going on there then? Can everybody s...

Re: Darlington V Boston

You can carry on asking fans to dig deep each season, or for a more sustainable future, the club need to boost its commercial income Whilst I agree that we need to boost our commercial income, how is that more sustainable than "asking fans to dig deep"? Once you get extra sponsorship, is it guarant...

Re: Darlington V Boston

Looking at their squad they are clearly yet another club who are bankrolled to fuck. Also, it appears they are getting a shiny new ground too. I hope we utterly smash them. Well hush my mouth it appears that they are not bankrolled. Yes, they are the 2nd known club in the NLN (as well as us) to liv...

It's really sad that the signing of a Darlington lad should have turned into this awful saga. Whatever the rights and wrongs, thank God it has finally been brought to an end. We should not be offering 2 year contracts to anybody, ok Galbraith and Thommo are exceptions but this has been worse than t...

Who gave the figures ,it depends on who that person was as to the truth of the actual amount supposedly. We know to our cost what that owner can and will inevitably do , pools were well warned of this. To be fair, Pools (as in the 3,000+ loyal fans) had little choice in whoever saved the club, so w...

Re: Darlington V Boston

By the time Tommy had given up on Ainge being a striker, he was a fairly limited CB. No questioning his strength in the air where he won plenty of headers, but along the floor he is painfully immobile and in possession he often just hoofed it away in any direction. If you play to his strengths and ...

I pray that Gray gets the job because they clearly want to work together, and the bonus is that Gray will take them backwards.

Because Campbell doesn't run around like a headless chicken. Campbell runs around loads and loads - that in itself should endear him to a lot of our fan base who's only requirement for a player seems to be "runs around a lot". Re: Josh Heaton

We cant afford not to have the money from a cup run, a good run would give AA budget to play with. Not necessarily. It would depend on if the club was performing financially better or worse than projected at that time. For example is the commercial hitting target, are the gates hitting forecast? On...

We're not that Blyth team though. Just because it happened once for Armstrong doesn't make it a certainty it's going to happen again. And we don't have a Maguire.
Blyth didn't have a Thompson or a Hatfield.

Cheers. He must have had something about him to play in the league. Yes, an ability to play right back. Something which he was never considered for at York and Darlo. I've suggested a few times that maybe, just maybe, we should give him a crack at right back, tell him this is the time to prove hims...

Don't think they york were that much better Darlington today, I think york will not be promoted because I saw nothing special about them, bang average and will maybe make top 8. Re: Darlo v York

Well, overall I couldn't fault the effort yesterday. We were up against a full time club with a million pound budget yesterday, would have been nice to batter them, but alas. We just don't have enough cutting edge up front against teams as strong as York, and O'Neill and the 4-4-2 formation was badl...
