Re: Hereford v Darlington Match Thread

I think it's TW's long-term record and failure to learn from mistakes over and over again that has led to most fans wanting a change, not just one game. Everyone wants him to succeed but most now believe he's not the right person to take the club forward. I think thats how I feel. Pretty much says ...

Re: Tommy Wright

Given the poor level of fitness in the team - one of the main problems in my view - maybe Wright and White could be heroic and roll back the years. They were likely lads in their day, if their registrations are still valid it might work and if they flag a bit after half-time Tommy can work his tacti...

Re: Steve Watson - new York manager

We all felt Reynolds was a savior when he appeared because it was him or oblivion and if we'd won that match against Peterborough at Wembley - which we should have - we might be a league one club now. We'll never know but Georges form was well enough known at the time, why didn't we do the right thi...

Re: Tommy Wright

Well I've changed my mind again; after today's performance, after all he should have absorbed by now, after all the good will nearly half the voters put in him and after the fond memories of him as a player - his times up and its just a question of how to manage his going. Even if he can keep us up ...

Re: Tommy Wright

The voting right now just about replicates the Brexit vote; 52% want to bin the current arrangements. This seems a lower figure than I expected but as set out elsewhere I've changed my mind about Wright and believe he - and White - must have learned something during their time here. I don't think it...

Re: Telford V Darlington

I like Andy Park's post and as he actually went to the match his reflections carry some weight. The points about the management are pretty much what I believe but if they're still here next season they really need to get the players fitter. Three days after a commendable performance against the leag...

Re: Do The Wright Thing

Maybe I'm looking on the bright side with Wright but perhaps you have to and while Harry and Gramps are right about conversions. It was the lighter side of following Quakers that really got me thinking about Tommy's troubles; while looking at the Dave Booth archive at Barnard Castle Bowes Museum I f...

Do The Wright Thing

Having insulted, mocked and moaned about him, then changed my mind after the York game I think it's time for another thread about our much maligned manager. Perhaps I'm not the only one feeling a cautious mood of change and maybe Tommy's bending with the wind. He's had a rough ride on the old learni...

Re: 2 New Signings Today

Darlo reborn makes an interesting point about sticking with Wright next season. He's weathered some criticism but you have to be impressed by his resilience and if he continues turning Quakers round he's obviously got ability, somewhere. If he keeps us up with something to spare he might be worth st...

Re: New Finance Director

Its probably best if he didn't watch Quakers in 1983 - we were a sorry sight for much of that season. It was Billy Elliot's last campaign and we'd sold Speedie and Skipper. The nadir was a 0-0 at home to Mansfield before 900 fans. Cyril Knowles deserves a statue somewhere for pulling that lot togeth...

Re: Curzon V Darlington

Think this is a very significant result and a very different draw from the others such as Southport where we were very lucky. Today we came from behind and could have won against one of the better teams - a bit dozy for their goal but maybe TW knows what he's doing with Elliot ... and who knows, may...

Re: Darlington V Spennymoor

I expect a few goals in this game; could be another 2-2 or even a win for Darlo. Ainge getting fit and showing real ability at the back could be the most important thing that's happened to the side. Last weeks clean sheet seemed significant to me.

Great post from Murton. It would be good if Liam could read this thread to see how much people think of him. From my own experience I can tell him that this is very treatable and he can get better. All the best.

Alfreton away

 Stop Styche and we can win this one as well. The Kidderminister performance convinced me we can give anyone a game in this league. If Tommy gets it right again we can start looking forward.

On the York site someone's posted that they need 'the McEwan approach'. That must be Billy? Is he still in management? Heaven knows what they'd make of each other - he might get Parkin fit anyway.

 I never doubted Thommo and was so pleased for him but what about Tommy? I can't knock him anymore with the way things have been going but is he an enigma or what? The York game seems like a bit of a blip with tired players facing a side finding some pride, on that day anyway and we might h...

Has to get his plan right today. Give Thommo a chance, give the goalie some cover and stop their wide players. Wouldn't a 1-0 win be good for a change?

I remember better days at Bootham Crescent and some decent games with Quakers. I can recall a 4-3 win for us in the old Freight Rover Trophy when Gary McDonald and Paul Ward put on a great show also a Speedie inspired win in the league, but there's a lot more for York fan's; filling the place regula...

Re: York V Darlington

I think there are reasons to be cheerful, still. Six more points on the board should reflect some credit on TW and let's be honest we need to be as positive as we can about him now. I would say the collapse at York was down to several issues; tired legs, York's laudable desire to better their Boxing...

Re: York V Darlington

York might dish out some rough stuff today, it's all they've got left really. Their club's in a bad way and it's sad to see but Wright's dealings in the loan market should give us real hope for the new year. Some of the post's on their site make our own seem mild. It could be a lively afternoon all ...

A good result ? A good performance definitely but badly undermined by Wright's cack handed management - he doesn't deserve the effort those lads put in for him - and us. Moaning about him is a waste of time now but I've noticed a few posters raising questions about Alan White. Why don't they get a d...

Re: Chorley V Darlington match thread

I agree very much with Loid L's last post, also the one before that. We seem to be in a strange place in how we react; it's either reasons to be cheerful when we've lost less badly or what a load of rubbish when there's actually been some evidence of effort. I tend to blame Wright for most things bu...

Re: Chorley vs Darlington - Rearranged

Good news about the fresh players but on no account should Thompson be dropped. Wright needs to put him in the position he feels happiest in because I think his relatively quiet form has come from him being asked to do things he's not there for and he's lost confidence. At his best he might be the b...

Re: Cool heads

I agree with Banktop about AW. In my view it's our back line that really struggles and if White has any sway surely it's with our defence. Those two should have been able to much better than they have and we know that once in a blue moon they turn out a team that can play - something's gone badly wr...

Saunders looks to me to have the right stuff but it's very hard for a prospect in a poor team. I remember watching Curtis Main in a rotten line up during Colin Todd's tenure. You could see how good he was but his quality was dragged down by poor balls and people not seeing what he was doing. I don't...
