To be fair, I'd imagine 1000 seems a big crowd for a Gateshead fan
Im sure darlington would struggle to get 1000 had they not been in the football league in there previous incarnation

Re: New deal for,Donawa, Hatfield , Rivers, Holmes, Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley, Liddle

I think the dilemma for York is that they are already losing a load of money (£900k per year apparently) that McGill covers out of his own pocket. Well, until Bootham Crescent gets sold then he gets it back. Offsets Yorks losses against his packaging co profits saving a fortune in tax. Will he pay ...

Re: New deal for Donawa, Hatfield, Rivers, Holmes,Hedley,Reid, Storey, Campbell, Laing, Wheatley

We are in a better position but Andy Holt at Accrington has basically confirmed that the EFL aren't able to offer any contract extensions at the moment due to that uncertainty. That means you have potentially 50% of players who do not know if they have a future in full time football. Are we really ...

Re: Thommo

One thing I’ve never understood with certain Spenny fans is why they’re so keen to deny they’re bankrolled. I don’t get it. It’s actually more effective to just admit it, as it shuts down that line of attack much quicker. “We’re bankrolled, so what?” There’s not actually any issue with them living ...

Re: Thommo

Thompson, Trotman and Ainge all off the books. Considering only Thompson contributed last season, and even then he wasn't a key performer, that gives Armstrong plenty of scope to really strengthen our team. Maybe it's freed up enough cash to go get that other striker we needed.

Re: Thommo

There's an assumption here that it's about money. Where he ends up might give a clue to that being the case. Phrases like "he was on double the money of some other players" are meaningless. We will always have a player who is on double the salary of another player. Yes, but if the player who is on ...

Re: Thommo

If he's good enough for Spennymoor then he's good enough for us. This is a classic case of a Manager favouring players that he has brought in over inherited personnel. He's definitely better than one lightweight winger from Blyth (for example) and he's certainly not over the top due to age or fitne...

Re: Thommo

Having initially thought it unlikely, I now wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Spennymoor. Other than the reputational damage Thompson will suffer with some members of our fanbase, it probably ticks a lot of boxes for both parties

I'm not surprised - he was no longer first choice for us, and I get the impression he wants to play regularly. Probably the right time for both to move on. Blimey that's a tiny target to be raised compared with ours & it goes to show what fantastic fans we have for our level of football. The difference between fan ownership and ownership by a businessman. As owners, it's our responsibility to fund the club, but in other ownership models fans are just ...

It would be interesting to know the risk of death from coronvirus of a fit, healthy man in his 20s with no underlying health conditions, and the risk of serious head injury for the same player. You can't of course transmit head injuries to vulnerable or elderly friends and relatives who are at a hi...

An interesting piece by Tranmere's chairman - not directly relevant to us as a semi-pro team, but highlighting some of the problems facing EFL teams.

Fascinating dissection of Hartlepool’s accounts on Kieran Maguire’s Twitter. They lost 860k for 2018/19, and Singh is already owed £1.5m. Fortunately when it’s time to sell up, he’ll just write it all off like he did with us..... Interestingly, total creditors of £2.73m which will include his loan....
