I'd have him back
as a defender. The attacking option is just a bonus.

Re: Promoted clubs

This home "advantage" thing is nonsense. All 3 playoff games in our league were away wins. Give me a crunch match away any day of the week. If we don't look like breezing to the title next year then I hope we are 5th.

Fair result after a dissapointing performance from us. With this result and Rammy doing the double over us then we should have totally lulled Rammy into a false sense of security.

Re: Playoffs

If only there was a large arena nearer to Darlington where we could get over 15000 people in to see football rather than being worried about the capacity at Heritage Park, then we could switch the matches and everyone who wants to go will get a ticket, nae bother. Anybody out there got any ideas? :...

Re: Playoffs: who do we want to play?

Don't care. Just make it to the playoffs which we have not clinched yet. If anything Rammy away would be better as there would be no danger of complacency. There might be complacency with Warrington or Bamber Bridge. I also think our noisy away support would be better for our chances than those fair...

Give me a crunch match away every time. Quite happy with 4th place! E.g. Barnet, Welling, Spenny ... Curzon.

Re: Somthing to think about?

It would make financial sense - as would playing any play-off games at a ground with a bigger capacity (dont know where we would find one of those!). But seeing as you purists have gone to all this trouble to get some atmosphere back (and I have to concede succeeded) then dont loose it with a plasti...

Ive not done the south park run yet but my brother does.
Its 3 laps of just over a mile (5K). You register and print off a barcode which gets scanned at the finish and logs your times and stuff. All ages and abilities etc.

Re: Darlo v Curzon Sat 8th Feb

I think we are the Man City of this league. Capable of demolishing any team on the day. I think that makes Warrington = Arsenal and Curzon Ashton = Chelsea. Both grinding out smaller wins almost every time. I hope this annoys the players into action but its got Darlo 0 - 1 Curzon Ashton written all ...

Re: So, how many of us think of Darlo as a new club ?

Interesting post. I started out thinking of Darlington 1883 as a new club formed by some of the fans which I decided to support. Then I found we had inherited a load of debt from the old club so, err, maybe this is still the same club. Here is a question though! Are MK Dons a new club or in fact th...

Re: Darlo v Wakefield - Boxing Day

An understanding with Mowden Park to stage bigger games at the Arena would be handy.
Bit late for boxing day but promotion clinchers or play-offs or future FA cup ties would allow a one off 4000 or 5000 which would be handy extra revenue.

Re: Will We Make Money Out Of Steve Thompson?

Of course there is another option.

Its quite common for non-league clubs to employ one or two full time players. (Perhaps with other duties.)

I know this presents the dilema between can we afford to and can we afford not to.

Re: Warrington Town v Darlington Match Thread

Best thing for me was the way we started the second half.
I expected 20 mins of Wire pressure and we just went out and finished them off.
Warrington looked clueless and desperate.
Keep it up and we will hit the top sometime in Jan/Feb.

Re: Darlo v Northwich Victoria Match Thread

I think MG needs to change a few players and be allowed the time to do this because I think we have not got the number of scoring options he had created last season. Question is, will the finances let him when we are 300 fans short of the 1300 average budgeted for, and likely to loose a few more if ...

5K is half of the money from 1 home crowd and not nearly enough! Is it? I thought the average ticket price was less than £5? So if all attendees were paying on the gate we pull in <£6k in gate receipts (1,200 crowds). Considering that c.600 are season ticket holders or 50% (I think that's right) th...

What will the potential capacity be given access and parking? Remember the 10000 limit at the Arena was because of the amount of parking available. There is some debate as to the ratio that gets applied (e.g. 1 space per 4 capacity (or maybe 1 space per 8)) and we wont be able to park both sides of ...

BSN - with hard choices for fans to make along the way.

Like whether to return to the Arena to double the crowds (although it wont seem like that all packed on one side).

Or having to have less expensive players, or settle for mid-table.
