Re: Northern Echo Arena

Let's see what happens. If we were to be involved then of course the FSIF grants would be a consideration, but I doubt they'd be a dealbreaker. There would obviously be issues with existing agreements with DRFC to consider as well. I've really no idea whether there'd be any hope of progressing as pa...

Re: Northern Echo Arena

Surely a sports village would have to include several well supported sports - are we not the best supported sports team in the town? How are they proposing to fund the sports quarter (as I presume it will be called - every new development is a quarter these days)? I thought they were struggling to ...

I’d be disappointed, and a little surprised, if the FC board had not been talking to DMP and DBC about this.

Cartman is always going to struggle in a team with zero width and who can barely even get the ball in the oppositions final third, which is what we’ve been for most of this season.

If all of the new seating sells out for season tickets we'll be in a great position! As it is I'm sure there'll be 200 seats to be used on a casual basis. Hope we're going to charge a couple of quid for people to sit in the spare seats. I’d hope not. Let’s try and get people in the place by offerin...

Re: Investment

We’re still run with no full time staff operationally or commercially, for totally understandable reasons so far. There’s got to be a point though where we invest in this area so we can grow our own revenue in a more sustainable and long term way. It would be a brave decision but it’s an inevitable ...

I think it’s pragmatic to have very little hope of of us developing any fully home grown players who’ve come all the way through out youth system. The odds are just stacked against it with all potential sucked away by proper academy systems. More likely is being able to develop a Wheatley or an Edwa...

I’ve no doubt that the OP is on the wind up, but the discussion is still there to be had.

Our pal Mr Gray opened up a pretty sizeable wound on this one and I think the scab is going to be picked at for a good while yet.

I have no wish for anybody other than the fans to be a majority shareholder of the club. I am happy for outside investment to be made into DFC but I would only want that to be for a maximum share ownership of 15%. That is all that is available at present without going to a vote by the membership. I...

Just to add - I’d say probably around half of the visiting teams have their own coverage in this league either through their club or local BBC radio, so anyone who wanted to choose to stay at home to listen would be able to most of the time in any case.

Is he, I thought the opposite, hence the "let's hope the next man is that man". Gray got it right, you could say, yet we are now becalmed in mid NLN waters. If he couldn't unlock this latent "potential" on the back of that run of success, how's the new fella? We got Gray 3 promotions in 5 seasons. ...

Awkward in the short term, better in the long term. Never fancied them long term.

Games are not so thick and fast now so i hope we can take a bit of time and find a genuinely long term option.

Season not over yet by a long chalk either.

Re: York City Transfer Targets

I am probably being extremely dumb here but what is our club ethos? I thought we were a fan based club in which a goodly chunk of what has kept the whole thing rolling along was by the good grace and the deep pockets of the fans. When a player is signed to a contract and then wants to leave for a b...

Re: Compensation from Gray breaking contract?

Let’s put this in perspective, Gray hands his notice in and is determined to go- do the club say work your 6 month notice or put him on gardening leave either way it would have been one disgruntled manager with the effects on the dressing room and club alike. I remember a picture of him signing his...

Re: Martin Grey live on BBC Tees sports live tonight

So, basically he wanted yet more money, it wasn't forthcoming (obviously, the last two gates were 1,200!) so he split. And he just happened to resign and York just happened to contact him later that day. I'm having trouble believing that one. We're just a laughing stock anyway. Of course he was aft...

Re: Compensation from Gray breaking contract?

The board must have known, like us, that Mills had been sacked and that Gray was hot favourite for the job. It was all over social media.

Gray admitted tonight that York approached him Saturday night so it’s beyond doubt that he left for the job.

I hope someone has recorded that interview!

Re: Disappointed to see Gray go

I don’t share the view that we can get out of this league as a part time outfit running in the way we are. I’m ok with that. There’s only two teams going up and by definition we’d have to punch massively above our weight to be one of them. Sure it’s possible but it’s not probable. We need several ye...

Allan Quatermain wrote:It could be that the contract was with MGFA to manage the club, not with MG.
if so it may be that as long as MGFA (Gregan and Atkinson) still carry out that role, the contract hasn't been broken and no compensation is due.
If that were the case I think it would be the final straw of incompetence.

I’m not too concerned about any digs in that statement, it’s patently obvious that York have a better infrastructure than we have and they have undoubtedly got a bigger budget to work with. Anyone who went to Bootham Crescent this season would recognise that. It feels like a “proper” club, with staf...
