Re: Business breakfast this morning

Was there any approach/interest from businesses actually based in Bishop Auckland? Just a thought, but if we are going to be resident in Bishop for a season, there might be a good opportunity to get some interest/investment from businesses in the town, as well as businesses in the Darlington area. A...

Re: Virgin Trains Internet

In many past dealings with Virgin Trains, if you are prepared to wait, and resend emails several times, they are one of the more generous companies with refunds. Missed a Virgin Train, because my connecting Virgin train was late once! 5 emails to various departments, and got a full credit card refun...

Re: "Missing Investors"

Using the money to get season tickets for myself and my two lads. Did think long and hard about re-investing, but the youngest got really into the club last season, so seemed like a better option.

I will invest in the club later in the season if I can afford it

Way too pricy and an average pint at best.

This little number I think nicely sums up 1883's relationship with the FA (Or Raj I suppose)

Re: Press Release

I am furious with the FA, and as angry as anyone with the tone of that press release. I really want 1883 to be asking questions, but once I calmed down and thought logically, I can see why an appeal might not be the way forward. We have a huge task ahead of us, assembling an entire club, and getting...

Although I'm not particularly looking forward to seeing EvoStik/Northern League football at Dean Street next season I am looking forward to being able to talk/debate/bitch about the team, manager and club again. My feelings exactly. Over the last two weeks I've felt pretty crap about our prospects,...

Re: Attendances..Really??

I have no doubt we will have the highest attendance in the league, and I don't think that 1000+ is impossible. My concern however is that people are focusing on attendances as the key to our success, when the real issue is what quality of players we will be able to recruit. Plenty of people talking ...

Re: Ray Simpson Tweet - Prominent NL say DFC in NL

Anyone who thinks we could enter the Northern League as a 'Big Club' and suddenly attract the cream of the crop and gain promotion is deluded. Do you all really need reminding that we have hardly any players, and we will have a manager, ground, and board that have been together less than 6 months. W...

Re: Northern League looking more probable?

One occasion where I wish we adopted the US model. Attendances or the size of the franchise would largely dictate where clubs were placed. Good or bad the FA are still a rather old-fashioned ethical organisation who take little note of the size of clubs (or cash influences) when making these decisi...

Bloody hell, how did I miss this? Was he ever a Grimsby fan? Strange question, but I was there for a relatives funeral that year, and while in the pub, killing time before the train home, I got talking to a bloke who was doing this. Never mentioned a book though, can there have been two of them! Mus...

Re: 1883 confidence vote

I have less confidence in them than I did. As their whole sustainability plan seemed largely based around the concept of using the Arena to our own advantage. (Like every other club owner has said). Without the ground, and even the meagre revenue streams it offered, I just can't see a plan thats sus...

I've only been to Heritage Park once for the Auckland Derby, and only saw 2 turnstiles. Good to have someone that knows the place better. The only thing that worrys me is parking. Bishop has a decent bus service, and an infrequent train service + long walk/bus journey. immediately outside the ground there's 2 pubs (a Brewsters and a Marston's), 2 supermarkets, a KFC, McDonalds and Starbucks. West Auckland has a direct bus service every half hour, with no walk, but few facilit...

To Shildon's ground, probably a good 70+ on a doubledecker, there are buses at least one every 30 minutes, about 30 minutes and no idea of the cost. Have you ever done the journey... 70mins is way over what it is. Bishop to Darlo (via Shildon) is about 40 mins. So 25/35 is more accurrate I think. T...

Re: Potential stadium move

What worries me is that 1883 have always said that they had plans to make the Arena work for us, through other activities. That seemed to be the key to their business plan.

I'm very concerned if they are looking at a move away, because thats a serious shift away from the whole 'sustainable club'.

I couldn't support a team that owed that b****** money. I invested £100 in the first wave of shares. I won't invest another penny, either in shares, bucket collections or tickets if we are paying Raj. I'll wish the new club well and all, but my financial support will end there. Agreed. Please do not take this as a criticism of the hard work of all involved, we do appreciate and admire it. But the trickle of information leads to speculation and concern. Re: Its all down to Raj

Hilly Unless I am misinformed, Darlo has never made a profit as long as I've supported them. That makes them an investment black hole. 1883 have a business plan which we trust will/should change that, but as much as I put my hope and money into them, history shows football clubs generally lose money....
