Re: Darlington v Chester
Who remembers 1960/1 season, mid December in the fog at Feethams. DFC won 5-1 but only a few people actually witnessed the goals. Five thousand plus in the ground so moving from end to end was not possible. You must be as old/older than me!!! I think the guidance then was that the game went ahead i...

Near top of national league, won 9 out of 11 home league games. If we get anything out of this it would be a bigger achievement than Walsall.

Re: Will Darlo go for the hybrid model?
I'm not convinced of the benefits of a hybrid model unless you have enough full timers to effectively used the greter number of training sessions to sensibly work on those things that benefit from repetition drills etc. Then there is the question of integrating part timers into training and tactical...

Re: Darlington V Walsall Match Thread
Desperately missed O'Neill, and poor balls in from set pieces - fantastic effort, but lacking that bit of quality where it mattered. But just about held our own againast a full time team two divisions higher, so nothing to be ashamed of. Thought the ref had a decent game, and of the two assistants, ...

Re: Walsall V Darlington FA Cup First Round Proper
Yes well done BBC and well done Alun. He also said our two internationals would be staying home and playing for us as we only have 14 players available! The match v Mexico on Tue 19th is a CONCACAF NATIONS LEAGUE fixture rather than a friendly. Assuming this is part of the FIFA competition calendar...

Boss and mgt team have quit. Says results have not lived up to expectations. Sounds like a decent bloke, not making excuses and accepts responsibility.

Re: Guiseley Away this Saturday 26th Oct
One of the benefits of a 'poor' fa cup draw is that it doesn't become all consuming and take our eyes off the priority of getting a decent league run going.
With our recent form I'm optimistic we can get something from this.

Whickam away tonight (Wed).
Guess we will be putting out a youth/fringe players team - maybe give our returning internationals a run out.
Wonder if any ex-Darlo will be playing and out to impress.

At least with the way gate money is split we know that a percentage of the entrance money travelling Darlo fans pay will be coming back to our club, so we are putting something into our own pot.

Averaging about 4,500 or so this season. Don't know if they will beat this on an all pay game, but should at least make a 5 figure sum from the gate. Plus 36K of course.quakersfan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 6:31 pmWe could make £22/25k on a 5500 gate. Looking forward to the trip.

How did he get on yesterday. Asking a lot to come in with little preparation, especially against the sort of hoofball that Alfreton use. By the sound of it he did OK.

Like others have said, I'm pleased that staying in the EFL has been ruled out - obviously nothing personal, but anything else would have set a terrible precedent and only encouraged rogue/stupid owners to gamble money they haven't got in the hope that success will somehow generate enough to keep the...

Re: Darlo v York
O'Neill isn't being asked to fill in the attacking midfielders' role, it would be nonsense to do that. He's a proper forward who holds the ball up well and gets in the box as he should (needs to work on finishing though). So as he is playing as a front man, and Campbell is playing as a front man, t...

Re: King’s Lynn
First game of season - very disappointing. Different personnel but seemed very similar to last season. No obvious game plan, slow ponderous build up, lots of long diagonal balls to the wing - almost inevitably swallowed up by their full backs, defensive lapses gave them both their goals. Up front Ca...

Re: Small clubs in the north west
I'm sure they will be back like we were. I just wish we'd maintained our momentum as we've now reached our level unless someone is prepared to invest serious money and supprters can accept it and relenquish a bit of power. Otherwise we'll never get back in the football league. New account and first...

Sadly, no more Shakers v Quakers games. Hope they can become another successful phoenix club in the future. Now that the first club this season has gone, what will the effects be on the pyramid? A number of other struggling clubs will be pushed closer to the brink as they lose out on revenue from t...

Maybe I've missed it, but do we have an assistant manager/coach. I know we have a keeper coach, but with White gone and Thomas appointed as the academy/youth/U23 man, is that it as far as the management team is concerned?
