Re: Jimmy Lawton

What stands out for me was Lawton's form in the 1964/5 season.
In an below average team (we finished 17th), he scored 29 goals. Two were in a brilliant 4-1 cup replay against Hartlepool in front of a packed Feethams (15,000), which got us a home tie against Arsenal in the third round.

Pools playing Harrogate away tomorrow. After Gateshead their next nearest local derby game in a meaningful match.
Perhaps why they haven't sold many tickets for the reserve/youth team game next Tuesday at BM.

Good luck in your recovery Liam, as someone who suffered bad with Mental Health a few years ago, I know how tough it is. But you've got everyone at Darlington FC. Good news for Saunders and us. Some credit to Tommy Wright as well for giving him opportunities and developing him also in the past year. Definitely credit to Tommy Wright who has taken some severe criticism on this forum lately, including me. Developing players and selling them on is our best hope...

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM

Maybe Richard Money will punish his failing first-teamers with an outing in the Durham Challenge Cup on a cold January night at BM. I'm sure Nick Loughlin thinks they deserve it after he wrote this following their FA Trophy embarrassment on Saturday: "ANOTHER WEEK, another new low. The absolute bas...

I think I can answer that. It's Christy Moore, founder member of Irish band Planxty

For what it’s worth, not that I have to justify any of my comments, I thought we were excellent from start to finish against York, but some of us have other things to do on Boxing Day apart from check fans forums. I haven’t had the time to count, but I’d love to know how many points we’ve thrown away from winning positions. Easily double figures. Listening in to Darlofans radio yesterday with Liam Hughes on the commentary team, apart from being a natural and entertaining, Liam was able to analyse our deficiencies and see things that everyone apart from TW can see.
A caretaker player/manager in waiting and it won't cost us. Sack Wright now.

Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United

I think it is technically a first team game, but no one sees it that way. Honestly, I just want us to get through it without incident. I know that's really negative, but it's an indictment of the situation at Blackwell. There's one way in and one, and there's not really adequate segregation. If the...

We probably don't have the resources to sack TW, but we would have the option of placing him on gardening leave, and letting AW have a go, and bring in a couple of coaches to support him (Pears? Gregan? Atkinson?). It's the only option if he continues to sink us, and can't motivate the team to turn...
