Re: Gainsborough Trinity V Darlington FC Match Thread

As I've said long term we should aim to sign players such as Bartlett. Slight gamble introducing a new keeper days before playing?not much time to familiarise with the defence and vice versa? Players such as Bartlett with lots of experience and playing at a higher level means absolutely nothing. Wh...

Re: Gainsborough Trinity V Darlington FC Match Thread

Clean sheets and finally some understanding in our problematic defensive department, only for us to bring in a keeper who is clearly on the downgrade.

Re: Gainsborough Trinity V Darlington FC Match Thread

MG it seems has made a terrible error of judgement with this keeper scenario.

Re: Clean sheets

Standing behind the goal today, I noticed how vocal our Goalkeeper was, always guiding and instructing the lads in front of him. Didn't have a lot to do barring the one save but he looks assured and has so far, been an excellent signing.

Hardy to Darlo - £15k
Hardy to Buxton - £10k

A deal that didn't quite work out as planned but that's football. Sometimes big signing come off and sometimes they don't. Whether it's cost neutral or not, we can't be scrutinising decisions MG and the board are making to try and make us better.

Re: Pitch deal falls through

Highly unlikely we had a deal with Middlesbrough to buy their pitch!!

Blackwell Meadows needs digging up properly (similar to Bishops) if the pitch is going to be done properly. The surface of a football pitch is only as good as the ground beneath it.

Re: Darlington FC v Curzon Ashton

Curzon were well drilled on how to contain us and dealt with all of the balls In and around Beck impeccably. They made sure they won the majority of loose balls in and around their own box too. They soaked up the pressure and hit us on the break with the pace of Ryan Hall who we struggled with. Firs...

MG has been very fair to Jameson. I do think, the time is near for change now so Edward Wilczynski may get the chance to show what he's about.

Re: New signing

A reliable source has told me, Bishop pushed the boat right out to secure his services and he was a massive factor in them getting as far as they did in the FA Cup. Very highly rated I'm told.

Re: Halifax v Darlington Match Thread

Lots and lots of positives for me yesterday. Opening 15minutes we didn't really have a kick and Halifax came out of the blocks on fire, most notibly their right winger who I'm told is a Stockton lad. Enter Gary Brown who smashed MacDonald right in front of the dugout and that quietness the young lad...

Every extra was a tad expensive for me

£5 - Parking
£3 - Pie
£2 - Drink

I'm no pauper and I paid for all of the above, but I did regard as expensive.

Re: HALIFAX - HOME TICKETS - SOLD OUT NOW

Can't wait for this game!!

Just a thought but the away end at BM has no covering and it's standing only (I'm led to believe) so I can understand why Halifax may have struggled to sell the allocation, add to that no onsite bar.

Re: New Keeper

So....the plenty out there.....who would you go for? Bell is our number 2 keeper, so logically, we shouldn't be going for anybody. With respect, you're now arguing against yourself. If there are better keepers out there who would also benefit from the experience, why would we go with our goalkeepin...

Re: New Keeper

So who would you have signed instead? If there's no one else available who would you have gone for? Or would you have started with Bell instead? Bell is our 2nd choice keeper and he played at the same/higher level as the loanee last season. Regarding other Goalkeepers, there are plenty out there at...

Re: New Keeper

There's a few sheep kicking around on here. Maurice_Peddalty makes a very valid point, there might just not be any other keepers available which would make the decision signing him understandable. I still stick by what I have already said, we as a club, would not have giving this keeper the time of ...

Re: New Keeper

I hope the keeper from Hartlepool does well for us, but I'm lost as to why we have decided to get him on loan. He was a Northern League keeper last year at strugglers Durham City. We've signed him blind in my opinion, unless he is in just as cover. So according to your theory no player from a lower...

Re: Salford game at Herritage Park

While it's wet and bogging, let's mess the HP pitch up and not our new carpet at BM.
A bit of humour on my part, but in all seriousness, a game on our BM pitch while the rainy season is in full force, could result in the pitch been knackered for the remainder of the season.

Re: If all goes according to plan....

I thought the Bishop lot used those sprinklers a little excessively, but according to my pal at Bishop, Martin Gray has a specific requirement for the watering of the pitch: 15 minutes of watering before the players warm up 15 minutes of watering when the team finishes the warm up 15 minutes of wate...

Re: a crocked jameson v a fit bell

Bell is a cheap 2nd goalkeeper to have in the squad and is happy to sit on the bench week in week out. He would only ever be used for an emergency situation like a sending off or an injury during the game to Jameson. I have no doubt, if Jameson picked up a long term injury, he would sign a keeper to...

I am told the FA cup takes priority. Think that means the league will decide when our game with Kidderminster is played, more than likely the Sunday, unless we both agree to a Friday night game.
