Re: The Squad Now
As an example, if your manager has instructed you to press very high against Chorley, when you are 3-0 down at half-time, away from home, then that is a recipe for absolute carnage. They can’t drop in to two low blocks, as that would be going against manager’s instruction. The 8-0 was 70% on Gowlin...

Re: Darlo v Chester
I see the Echo are saying Hazel could be on his way: "Hazel had been dropped from the starting XI, replaced by Andrew Nelson, and there are now question marks over his future at the club with Scarborough and Farsley Celtic understood to be interested in signing him." He did perhaps have the look of...

Re: Peterborough V Darlington
People need to start talking about the obvious....which is: 1) The decision to sell Kaine Felix 2) Opting against extending Finlay Barnes' loan 3) The decision to replace neither. Gowling has now finally seen the light & ditched 3/5 at the back, the problem being we now have a squad stacked with fu...

Re: Tommy Taylor
Felix was happy to stay. Robson was a downgrade, did you see the goals he conceded? So he was lying then? Yes I’ve been to all of the games Robson has played in, I believe he’s ahead of Taylor in a number of attributes but Taylor would have saved one of the goals scored (Spenny’s 1st). Felix only w...

Re: Tommy Taylor
You say that, but we've allegedly received two offers for Taylor, both from NLN clubs. And if we receive a small fee and replace him with someone of the same standard cheaper so we can use the funds to strengthen elsewhere surely that is good management? Especially when the budget has been poorly s...

Re: Tommy Taylor
There’s probably a number of players Gowling would like to get rid of, the worry for me is that we may not be able to offload them. Nobody in the NLN will be signing players not good enough for us so they’ll have to drop down. Either they go out on loan and we have to pay a portion of their wages f...

I’ll have a go, the new players to me indicate that we may be sticking to with 5 at the back. Re: New players and targets
Taylor is one of the best goalkeepers in our division. He is pretty much as reliable as they come at this level. A second goalkeeper of that quality is a luxury few can afford - and a player of that quality would rather go and play elsewhere unless they are paid first team wages. I am not sure spen...

With just under 15 hours to go, we are less than 1K behind last years final total, which given the financial circumstances this year is remarkable. I think the wording is reviewed at least once every 5 years. To review it so quickly after it was agreed would cost £££ to go through a public inquiry to make changes. I can’t see that happening but there will be lots of Councillors mentioning making changes on the run up to elections… Sent from my ...

Re: New contract for Sukar..but no idea how long
Perhaps if Ray is doing all of those roles, and it is impacting his role in media, the club should consider placing an advert for more support on the commercial/media/admin side? I am sure there will be a number suitably skilled individuals across our fan-base willing to chip in on an unpaid basis....

Guessing it was James Spencer at Farsley who’s just joined Curzon.. Yeh pretty sure AA has voiced his admiration of him in the past and was obviously available, so very likely it was him. Re: Spennymoor Saturday
Thought Dodds and Sukar were both excellent up against Taylor. Sukar has been very good since the first few games which I'll admit I wasn't sure about him. Squad is small like, only managed to name 5 on the bench when we could have 7. Think we were missing Wheater, Lawlor and Mondal. Any idea why M...

Re: Hereford Away 26/11/22
Funny you should mention David Platt, I recall Stuart Elliot lobbing the goalkeeper from some distance against his Nottingham Forest team in the Worthington Cup back in 2000. I'm sure that was more of an empty net from 50 yards rather than a lob, Dave Beasant as nowhere near after a poor clearance.
