Re: Genuinely Excited!
I'm sure I heard Dennis Pinnegar from 1883 say on BBC Radio Tees tonight they would sort things out with creditors who are owed money. The problem in the past has been that opportunistic businessmen have circled like vultures picking off the carcass of whatever assets the club had at its disposal. N...

I don't understand the criticism of 1883. They are bound by a legal framework and have to adhere to it. It may mean they cannot reveal everything that is being discussed until a later date. Some of them may not neccesarily be supporters of DFC but they are bringing other skills into the negotiations...

Re: Darlington FC Highlights - Looking back
Good times Gazzadfc - I'm sure I saw Steve O'Shaughnessy playing for Rochdale in that clip you posted. Nice post fozzie. I remember the blind man and his colleague, fascinating to listen. Does anyone remember the bloke who used to constantly criticise the team from the East Stand in the late 70s? He...

Re: The Ressurection of Newport County
Thanks for posting and explaining the situation - it is appreciated. I didn't see it posted elsewhere. One positive aspect for Darlington is they have always had a very active and supportive group of exiled supporters who could play a major role in galvanising everyone. The Supporters Club were alwa...

The Ressurection of Newport County
http://www.newport-county.co.uk/about/page3.html Don't know if this is of any use to the debate but thought I would post it. Newport were once in our postion and were forced to move 82 miles away to play 'home games' at Moreton in Marsh in Gloucestershire - the highest crowd being 594. Some of the g...

Re: What are the poolies going to do
If Gateshead can match their ambitous chairman on the pitch they could end up with a local derby a long time before Darlington ever resume rivalries.

Some of us haven't invested because we knew Raj (Judas) was still hanging around in the background wanting his ten penneth. Can only speak for myself and Mozzer (John Mosley) but the small amount we would have both invested probably wouldn't make much difference but perhaps the more serious investor...

Re: feethams dismantled east stand ????
Tyne Tees Demolition of Newton Aycliffe have been involved at the football club for many years - they leased one of the hospitality suites at The Arena. I'm sure if the club got them involved they would be happy to help in return for some form of sponsorship? I could be wrong but if you don't ask th...

Re: feethams dismantled east stand ????
It wasn't the stand that financially crippled us it was the chairman of the club (Mike Peden). I could say more but I don't want to get Scott into trouble as I was a shareholder at the time. A certain amount of the money it cost was provided in the form of a grant though I cannot remember the source...

Re: Potential stadium move
Are the club in a position to dictate what facilities they will need if they are to share grounds? None of the Northern League grounds near me: Marske, Guisborough or Stokesley would be appropriate. Indeed Marske's ground is just 10 minutes walk from where I live, so perhaps I should consider watchi...

DL_FOURTEEN - I used to be a minority shareholder in DFC from 1994 through to the Reynolds era. As a shareholder when a club goes into admin all shareholders receive a document listing all of the club's creditors. The list I was sent from memory contained some 80 pages of A4 from medium and larger-s...

Talking factually, actually. I was one of the promoters of the comedy evening. I don't need to speak to Mike Amos, whom I know personally anyway. Mike wasn't there - simple as. I was and lost a lot of money. You are correct in one sense though - the club was £5 million in debt when it was still at F...

Just re-read your posting Deadly and all joking aside its good to see alternative comedy is alive and well in Darlington: "Move on we have fabulous stadium just need team to grace it. As for never filling it. We have had many a big gate in the past. Towns a lot bigger now." Dunno if you have any ink...

Deadly Leftfoot - well that explains it then doesn't it? If you didn't go to the meeting at Strikers Bar you wouldn't be aware there was a vote as such? I'd harbour a good guess then and say the vast majority of fans weren't even aware there was a vote took place. Not that it matters now of course i...

Deadly Leftfoot - how many people were in the Supporters Club at the time? Were the people who voted (the 65% in favour) fully paid-up members of the Supporters Club? Did anyone else apart from Supporters Club members actually vote? As I remember it Sue & Peter Weeks were fronting the Supporters Clu...

Re: Today's attendance
Leigh Edward's column in yesterday's programme recalled the time in March 1983 when a crowd of 952 turned up at Feethams to watch a match against Mansfield. This makes yesterday's attendance look bouyant in comparison. It would have been more if Jenny Chapman and Peter Barron had paid to get in. Can...

Did they pay to get in to today's match though? Easier to put money into the DFC 1883 draw when you haven't already paid £15 admission and £10 in diesel to get there.

Viva La Revolution - I said back in 1989 in the Northern Echo that the way forward was for the club's fans to become shareholders - no more ragged trousered philanthrapists. It's just a real shame its taken three administrations for it to become reality. I have mixed feelings on staying at The Arena...

I'm really pleased the OP has been answered in a sensible way. I had/have similar concerns myself. Living 35 miles away we aren't privileged to the same Northern Echo as those who live in Darlington. Can anyone answer the question that for the foreseeable future the club intends to stay at The Arena...

Robin Coulthard wrote all the season by season material in our fanzine. He used to research most of his material in Darlington Reference Library and from old programmes. The annoying thing was Mike Amos of the Northern Echo frequently plaigarised Robin's work without crediting him, which was more th...

Re: Alfreton Town v Darlington Match Thread
You fuckwits - its not Craig Liddle's fault that the financial mismanagement over 15 years has led the club to this point. The players have been shafted mentally and morally and simply don't have the capabilities of coping with things as they stand at the moment. Until the club comes out of administ...

I used to work with Ronnie's son in Stockton - Kevin was his name. You wouldn't miss him as he was about 6ft 6 tall. Thinking ahead - the role of commercial manager could be the most important decision a new chairman and board of directors ever makes. The days of Brealey/Morgon, Peden, Reynolds, Houghton and Singh need to be consigned to history. Former Derek Mason was a dab hand at attracting sponsorship to the c...

He needs to check on Hartlepool's history such as the day former chairman Vince Barker told the players he was giving them a bonus - it was a sack of potatoes each (Barker was a farmer). He also came up with a grandiose plan to relocate the club to Scarborough because not enough people in the town s...
