Re: FA Cup draw - Darlo Away to Walsall

All the people whinging about the draw, seriously, what are you on about!? The odds on us pulling Pools or Sunderland were extremely long. Outside of that, would you prefer a total nothing tie against a team at our level or the Conference that we could easily lose and nobody would even bat an eye li...

Re: Darlington V Boston

When you take into account Boston are a solid side and likely playoff contenders and our bench resembled last season with how few players we had available, the way we played and won that game was extremely impressive. We're really starting to see the character and togetherness this group has. Thorou...

Re: Darlington V Boston

The ref really wasn't bad today by Conf North standards. Missed a couple of things but got everything major right, he booked the challenges that needed booking. Boston didn't take the piss with the phsyicality either. They're a rough, hard team but were never downright dirty the way Alfreton appeare...

Re: Burn Gone

It's really sad that the signing of a Darlington lad should have turned into this awful saga. Whatever the rights and wrongs, thank God it has finally been brought to an end. We should not be offering 2 year contracts to anybody, ok Galbraith and Thommo are exceptions but this has been worse than t...

Re: Darlo v York

Unfortunately I think the plans to add another striker now have to take a back seat to address the defensive crisis if Laing's injury on Saturday was anything more than a bad cramp...we're not even down to the bare bones anymore, the vital organs are exposed!

Re: Darlo v York

football really is fine margins. There were a few things that didn't go for us: 1. The ball hitting the post and bouncing out. Centremetres one way and we'd have been 1 up 2. CB getting injured. This meant that we had 2 left footed CBs, with one of them only being 5'10 or 5'11 i would guess (up aga...

Hatfield should have been man of the match he never stopped running afraid I don`t know why Thommo get`s it as in recent games don`t think he has been up to his usual standard. Thought we deserved something from game today but as everyone knows we have no cutting edge up front so once we concede ga...

Re: Darlo v York

Was probably the most positive I've felt after a loss yesterday. Some of the criticism is predictable but unfair. We're going to be down to non defenders playing in defense, we can't get a steady back 4 together and confidence is low, as well as still struggling with the after effects of the absurd ...

Re: Josh Heaton

Lot of people taking the easy option and bashing Heaton here. He's been no worse than the other two preferred choice centre backs this season. He's been hung out to dry a bit. Armstrong couldn't wait to jump to Laing's defense when he got a bit of stick early doors, but has himself put the boot into...

At this point we can safely assume Burn is going to shithouse a wage for the full season before going and finding his true level in Sunday morning football. This will be the last season we have anyone stuck on the wage bill playing this game at least. Armstrong seems to have been much more careful w...

Don't buy into the Campbell bashing, think AA got a bit greedy wanting to accommodate all 3 of Rivers, Thompson and Donawa and Campbell just will never suit being on his todd up front. Another lesson, probably had his hand forced a bit with 2 games in 3 days in this heat too, imagine O'Neill was fee...

Disappointing performance against a team we should be sweeping aside but every team has a couple of those sorts of games every season. Imagine being a Bradford fan having to watch your team desperately try to kill the clock from the first whistle and rely on freak luck to get through games. If we're...

Re: Darlington V Southport

Liam Watson seems to suggest that they lost because we adapted to the wind better and they didn't come to terms with playing on a wide pitch. I think it was more that we played the better football and were just, well, better all over the pitch. Their only tactic seemed to be long throws and belting...

I know it's early in the season but just for a bit of continuous comparison, am I right in thinking that we have more points at this stage than at this point last year after 5 matches? I expect we'll have a better season than last season across the board so would expect most if not all "then vs now...

Re: Darlington V Southport

That was the blue print on exactly how to beat a big, physical side. Very satisfying as that sort of team have tormented us for years now. Knocked it around beautifully early on, made the big lads get tired chasing it, got the goals and then killed the game off looking organized and comfortable for ...

You couldn't write it could you. Absolutely devastating news for Luke and the team! As far as what to do, Liddle looks spot on at left back so no sense changing that, and even if we did Galbraith can not be entertained as a full back anymore. He's nowhere near mobile enough to play there at this le...

For all people are digging out Laing and the defenders last night, can anyone give me one example of them being opened up by Gateshead in the entire 90 minutes :?: I certainly missed it if they did. I'd rather they went up to be honest. The less bankrolled village teams in the league the better in the short term future. They'll all go too far and nature will take its course eventually.

I think you can accept the Galbraith one as a foul, think he's gone through the man to get to the ball, but if that one on Chandler for the first free kick is a foul then football just isn't the same game anymore. He was on his way down before there was any hint of contact and when the contact did c...

The Madison booking highlighted exactly why that ref was poor. The Spenny keeper did *exactly* the same thing in the first half. Set himself to take a goal kick then decided to take it from the other side. He actually took longer over changing sides than Madison did. They're either both bookings or ...

Hopefully he can cover RB too. Pretty happy with that squad now. We only have 6 defenders, one being a 19 year old youth, one being permanently injured, and one often injured. I'd say we need 2 defenders. I know Elliot can cover right back, I know Ainge can drop into defence, but that's not ideal. ...

First of all we need to move a few players on. Burgess, Marrs and Scott seem givens to be released, and as much as I like them I wouldn't be shocked to see Brown and Portas go too given their limited availability this season. That would give us Heaton and Galbraith with Collins and Vaulks as back up...

Re: York City

Every poor performance we've had this season has coincided with an opposition that presses the ball all over the pitch. We can't play against that style, and it needs addressing. Some players have lost a yard, some players can't operate without space and luxury of several touches. It was a reminder ...
