Re: Shorter games ?
Also the standard was considerably worse, games were played at a snails pace and players were neither as fit nor technically as skilled as those today. Pele, Puskas, Eusebio, Best...going back a bit further - Stanley Matthews? You telling me that none of those players were as technically skilled as...

Re: Shorter games ?
Don't agree, there have always been technically gifted players but they are, I'm sure fitter now. Some of us will remember the dreadful surfaces they played on, so energy draining and only one substitute. Gerry Byrne played the 65 cup final with a broken collar bone. Real tough players abounded and ...

Re: Shorter games ?
If the season is not extended it is very likely we and others will have to play 3 games per week. Personally I am not convinced that the season should be completed at all costs. Using PPG is not an ideal solution but perhaps the National League should draw up some contingency plans. It could perhap...

Re: Boston Game To Be Replayed
There is a small possibility that this strange season could be decided on average points per game. As well as further lockdowns after Christmas, players testing positive, and possibility of games postponed because of bad weather, the chances of us completing our fixtures by whatever date the league ...

Re: Ex Darlo players -unsporting behaviour?
What about the goal that never was against Hull city in the FA cup that resulted in a total four replays five games in total. before going down at Ayesome Park. Would that be the lob from Bobby Baxter that dropped over the bar and was pushed back under the net. I think Doug Embleton might know some...

Re: Alfreton...
Interesting "explanation" by AA as to why our keepers sometimes kick the ball out for a throw in. Said something like " we are not going to win any headers with our midgits up front so we let them have the throw in and build from there!" Whilst the odds on us winning the ball in a heading dual are ...

Interesting article from the athletic (for those who subscribe at least) about this. Main takeaway is the lack of transparancy and responses from the National League.

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Curzon is a great little setup. That standing terrace on the far side is excellent The only problem with it is we rarely come away with anything Four points from the five visits since we came up from the Northern League. Any stattos out there want to suggest a team we've got a worse away record aga...

Just love that photo of Wharton and the team from 1887.
9 guys wearing quartered shirts and one in hoops.
No doubt hoops was the kit for the following year as voted for by the supporters in 1887.

Just paid for the match, nearly slipped up , as was going to do it a bit later, forgot it has to done by 12pm. Phew. Thanks for that. Phew indeed. Just got my pass. Why has last time for buying been brought forward to 12-00pm ? It hasn’t. Did you see the message saying 12pm though? No I didn't, jus...

Re: Cambridge City at home
Delighted we have a realistic chance to make more prize money but wouldn't it be great if we could have somehow had the chance to welcome a few live spectators also. like Alun Armstrong quite rightfully said all these years we've been saturated with away ties and now we're getting a few at home we ...

In original series which started on telly in1957 the characters were as stated by some of us who can remember it.swadquaker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 11:54 amIt was Tom the cabin boy and master mate. But hey ho its a good story. But werent the graphics amazing?
Later series in colour in the 1970's had the characters names doctored.

Apparently he's just cycled Southport to Hull. Shame we didn't know, could have let his tyres down when he passed. Apart from his horrible comments he's really boring, a two paragraph diatribe about no brekkie at the premier inn! I agree, ban him. How many votes to get rid of this foul character? I...

Re: Darlington v Prescot Cables
Well it wouldn’t be Darlo if we did things the easy way..... Some definite rustiness from a few players (to be expected), but overall some encouraging signs for a first competitive match since March. Really liked the look of Charman. He could turn out to be the poacher we were lacking last season. ...

Re: Boost the budget
There is no question Spenny fans would step up if needed. Fortunately for them their club is run in a sustainable way and they generate enough money through their large gate receipts and sponsorship. Also given their prudent financial management and the fact they do not pay over the top wages means...
