I know they said the budget was smaller than last year but I’d be gutted if there were not 2 or 3 more coming in given the size of Boost the Budget and the number of more experienced players not on the wage bill this season compared with last .

Fantastic effort . Especially in the current climate and after a tough end to last season. I must admit I thought we would do well to equal last season’s total.

One way of looking at is that it's an interesting insight into what one player thought of the management of the side last season.

"I am looking forward to working with a manager and staff... who do things properly, create proper game plans..." is not a cliché . . lol.. its a pop at Armstrong.

Interesting comments from Purver - especially coming as they do after Alun Armstrong's interview where he talks about departing players performances having dropped off in second half of the season. Great interview. Lots of info and an honest appraisal of last season.
So we have the left back and are looking for a striker, a centre back and a creative attacking midfielder to replace Lambert. And as has been said he mentioned Griffiths in the group who were staying.

Scarborough have signed Frank Mulhern today aswell. Saw him mentioned somewhere as a possible target for us.

Expected him to go but to Scarborough feels a bit worrying in terms of who can outbid us/seem more appealing.

It’s all quite embarrassing and I don’t think we should be wading in with replies from the club Twitter account. It’s very pub league.

There are loads of mitigating factors in Armstrong's defence here. Losing Beck, Lambert and Wheater being injured, not being able to keep Dodds and Leesley, Maddison not working out, the Paddy Almond injury, Spencer signing falling through etc etc. We had a really good recruitment last summer and a ...

Has any Darlo manager before survived a run like this . One win in 16. I don’t think we even had a run with just one win quite as long as this in the Staunton / Todd season . Really hard to assess the squad at the moment as the whole thing is in freefall . I think there are plenty of good players for this level in it which makes this run all the more difficult to take .

Another defeat, another idiot fan disgracing our club. This is the lowest ebb since 2011/12 and it feels that much worse after the first half of the season. This is simply not sustainable and I really hope the manager walks.

Good turn out from Darlo fans and erm that’s about it for positives. It’s almost always a horrible fixture and this was one of the worst showings yet . The 3rd goal was so so bad .

As an aside one of the linesmen gave the worst and most surreal decision I have ever seen . An Alfreton player intercepted a misplaced Darlo pass in the final third and was given offside.

I thought our defence withstood a hell of a lot and Wheater played well. It’s easy to say defence was too soft but we never really got a foothold in the match so they dealt with endless balls into the box . Without Wheater we would have been mauled today
