Haven't read the entire thread , so apologies if this guy's been mentioned, but i'd keep an eye out for Jake Bugg, the lad really seems a talent. Sort of stipped-back country tunes, really accessible. Give " Lightning Bolt" a try.

Re: The 'what music I'm listening to at the moment' thread

Alt-J were on the Radio 1 Live Lounge this morning. They seem to be flavour of the month on there at the moment - I've only just started re-listening to Radio 1 in the office and they are getting a fair bit of air-play. Caught Alt-J at T in the Park, was pretty impressed. I'll catch them again at L...

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread

I think, as much as anything else, the reaction to the performance the other night highlights how fickle the media and supporters can be. Had we won the penalty shootout, which we admittedly could have done, and have gone out to Germany , the debate would be entirely different, despite the same set ...

Re: Rolling Euro 2012 thread

Really looking forward to tonight's games. Fancy the Dutch to beat Denmark but it'll be close, Danes have some decent players, Eriksen in particular. Germany ought to beat Portugal, they've looked incredibly slick whenever i've seen them but it may hinge on whether Ronaldo is in the groove, their ba...

Re: Other Euro Squads

"Spains midfield jumped out at me mate, and Portugals forward line to be honest I would take a 0-0 v France now to be honest. Really looking forward to it all now, can't wait" Obvious problem with Portugal's forward line is that they lack an out and out striker, Almeida or Postiga or whoever they in...

Re: Other Euro Squads

Truthfully, there's not many of the squads that stand out and there seems to be a lack of stellar names. Hopefully some of the arrogance that surrounds England has dissipated and we can go into the tournament as underdogs. I fancy us to draw with France, defensively frail and they play with little c...

Re: England squad - who would you take?

There really is a disproportionate number of Liverpool players in the squad, here i was thinking they'd had a s*** season. I can just about fathom Carroll's inclusion but Downing being in is ridiculous. Pleased Chamberlain has made the cut, if a little surprised. Defoe's inclusion came as a shock an...

Re: Darlington v Bath City Match Thread

All i can say is that was probably, in terms of the quality of football, the worst match i have ever seen. Players repeatedly slipping over on a seemingly dry surface, trapping a ball further than i can kick one and generally running round like fucking headless chickens. Then again, a dead-rubber be...

Re: Favourite Cover Versions of Songs

Well, yeah obviously. But it's essentially Noel covering an Oasis song. And it sounds very, very different to the album version. Especially the one he released from the Dreams We Have as Children EP. Which was brilliant.

Vokuhila- Loved your Partridge reference, you should never apologise for quoting him.

And i'd certainly be interested in taking any Stones records you have. What's the situation there?

Re: Anyone else going to see Noel Gallagher @ Newcastle

And as for Liam, i actually liked the guy to a point. It isn't too much to ask for rock stars to have a bit of fucking edge. Nothing winds me up more than seeing Chris Martin flounce onto the stage and start droning on about " the magical atmosphere of the crowd" or some other pretentious bollocks.

Re: Anyone else going to see Noel Gallagher @ Newcastle

Personally, i do wish i was going to see Noel. I loved Oasis, maybe not one of my top, top bands but i thought Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory were both incredible albums. Noel's new album was good, if a little predictable but he's always come across as a good bloke and i'm sure he'll put on a go...

Re: Nice to see Clem supporting us

Just to say, AKITJ, your craic is fucking terrible. And why can't you accept that Clem was, as so often he is, wrong in what he said. I doubt he has any real grasp of the club's situation or accounts and only said what he did to try and abruptly end the conversation. I doubt there was any real malic...

It was only my dad and brother buying their tickets at this time. And they were charged £36 for the both of them. I couldn't fathom why. I'll be encouraging them to attend the York game regardless.

Re: Nice to see Clem supporting us

There was nothing reasoned about Clem's opinion at all. It seemed he was too ignorant to form one. Hignett and Mills were spot on with their assesment of the club and Clem acted like a total bellend. It's obvious if you're presenting a programme aimed at north east football fans, you shouldn't be ad...

I agree that any money raised should go towards the players and , perhaps, make what could potentially be their last matchday as Darlo players an enjoyable one.
