Re: Phil Turnbull Departs

We've now saved wages on Brown, Turnbull, Hunter, Portas, Scott, Marrs and Mills and added a further 8 grand - hopefully that can be added to the playing budget - so we should be able to add 3/4 decent players on a slightly reduced budget using those savings. And the good news is that is without tak...

Re: Phil Turnbull Departs

Let's not forget that South Shields dicked us 3-0 on our own patch - and it could have been 6. Turnbull that day was a disgrace. I do appreciate that he's been a good player for us though over the years but not as good or as influential as many reckon. He's a decent conference north player at this ...

Re: Phil Turnbull Departs

There was a few times last season where Turnbull got the ball and his team mates streamed forward looking to start a counter attack, only for Turnbull to dither on the ball and go for a sideways or back pass, sometimes losing the ball, other times completing the crablike movement, but generally kill...

One of the top earners I think but let's see what Tommy is made of with the players he has to bring in.Not entirely convinced about breaking up the team as quickly as this though so over to you Tommy. How much should a part time 31 year old conference north crabster be worth, like?

We need to get real, we're not a league team, that's what our players are worth.

Re: Gateshead

Just had a look at their forum and have seen posts saying stuff like "this club has so much potential" No, no, it fucking doesn't. As the previous two owners have realised. Where do these little pipsqueak clubs keep on finding these rich backers though? The only ones we've had were ones who put us i...

Re: Local Clubs Released Players

Can't see Walker coming to us. He's from the North West so obvious choices for him are a return to Barrow or maybe Chester/Stockport.

Another one leaving his club is Craig Westcarr from Alfreton, though again not exactly local.

Re: Local Clubs Released Players

We need someone with a better record than a goal every five games. When Styche went through a lean spell last season, we struggled. Think you might want to check your stats on that one. He first played v Harrogate scoring twice in the cup, which was in that dreadful run, and he couldn't stop scorin...

To be fair, I'd have him back. He proved he could score at this level unlike everybodies favourite chum "Carts".

I just couldn't understand why Gray fucked him off.

Bring back Hardy. Dial H for Hardy. Let's have a team full of Liams.

Re: Liam Hughes signed

Hmm seems to look decent enough. Played plenty for Cambridge in the Conf Prem and L2, short stint in the SPL, played last season in the Conf Prem again - so genuinely a player from a higher level. Perhaps a sign we're going to stick with the same formation, maybe Hughes and Syers battling for that a...

Re: Transfer targets for next season.

Regarding Penn, Burrow and York - we need to remember that these are 3 underachieving players from a club that only avoided relegation by a few points in the league above.

Whilst they may be decent at this level, I don't see them as promotion material

Re: Local Clubs Released Players

Spenny say they haven't taken up an option on Fewster but have offered him a "revised deal." Does that mean if he takes a pay cut? It can't mean anything else, and to be honest he hasn't done anything to deserve the same terms that he was on last season, whatever those terms were. But those terms w...

He's alright, but he is not a promotion calibre player at this level. If Gray signs him, it's one more fuck up, and one more nail in his coffin.

Re: Harrogate V Brackley

We went to this game and Harrogate were deserving winners. Brackley kept it cool and looked to me like they would find an extra gear if necessary, but when the time came they couldn't get it together. The Beck incident happened on 12 minutes right in front of us. He went in for a 50/50 ball a bit h...

Re: Netcafe with David Johnston tonight

But then we struggled to attract much more than 1,200 to the home games after that, so on the other hand there is lost income there. It will be nice this season to have a realistic budget set (I believe around 250k playing budget thanks to our 86k contribution), gates get back over 1500 average, and...

Re: Retained List - Official - Caton Transfer Listed

I think the reason we played 4-5-1 was more down to the lack of available strikers when TW tried to make signings, rather than him only wanting 1 up front. But to be honest, 4-5-1 is supposed to be 4-3-3 when you're attacking so are we really only playing 1 up front anyway? Thompson gets forward and...

Re: Retained List - Official - Caton Transfer Listed

In an ideal world we can move on Burgess and Caton and hold onto Heaton, Wheatley and Trotman for the season. Ideally I'd like to see a goalkeeper, a winger, and a forward brought in to make a competitive 18 man squad. Then perhaps a couple of kids from those invited back, if they prove good enough....

Yes, yes he did. In a defence that mostly consisted of Brown, Burgess and Galbraith along with himself, which conceded 71 goals, and which was embarassingly torn to shreds in several matches.
