Re: Thommo

At the AGM DJ said our high earners would be offered reduced terms for next season and, though he didn’t name any one, most of us knew he meant Tommo, Tez and possibly Wheatley so it’s not surprising he’s decided to move on, especially as he was unlikely to be a regular starter.

Re: Season VOIDED

I see on Look North the chairman of South Shields was saying that they would take legal action against the National league on them being denied promotion & that if they don't get promoted it would cost them between £400K & £500k. Why would they take action against the NL? It's the FA they would nee...

Re: Last home game for a while?

Sorry but I cannot believe attending Blackwell Meadows with around 1300 other fans is particularly risky. Maybe keep out of clubhouse but otherwise should be fine. If we take really drastic measures too early then surely it will be counterproductive as by the time the virus really hits people will ...

Re: Coronavirus and DFC

There was a article on the BBC website about why Italy was so much worse than us. Basically it’s because they are a much more ‘tactile’ people than us. Where as we shake hands they kiss cheeks and hug whenever they meet and again when they leave. The perfect way to spread Coronavirus very quickly.

Actually the 500 club was created to get us back into town. It raised a large portion of the money we needed to get BM up to NLN standard.

Re: Retention for next year

With Thommo, Galbraith and Wheatley on contracts from the TW/MG era I suspect they will be on more money than AA will want to pay so if AA does want to retain them it could well be for less money. If so we could well lose all 3.

Weather forecasting has improved significantly over recent years, there can’t be a single person who doesn’t expect storm Dennis to come in on Saturday and deposit large amounts of rain. If you look at the met office forecast rather than the bbc then the heavy rain starts at 9 am. Time for common se...

Re: Hatfield & Wheatley

The thing is our current wage bill is higher than intended because of the need to cover three long term injuries. My guess is that next seasons budget will be about the same as this season’s started at. However by then Ainge will gone, we won’t have to pay off Burn and any other of TWs 2 year, big m...

Re: Hatfield & Wheatley

Last summer DJ/AA said this was a 2 year project - rebuild this year then have a good go at promotion next year. This year the budget was increased due to having to cover 3 long term injuries so may well drop back to where it was originally. I think all the players AA has brought in are on 1 year co...

Maybe some players have enquired about new or extensions to contracts and been told it’s still too early in the season for such discussions. All it then takes is someone with an axe to grind against the club to turn it into the earlier post in an attempt to cause mischief.

I think it has been a constant problem not getting stock for the summer or running out of stock quickly. Granted the club doesn't want to be left with stock that it has to discount in order to sell.
Quaker Retail are already discounting home shirts - down to £25 and all sizes in stock.

There was no kit in stock before Christmas so missing out on Christmas sales. Kit out of stock at the moment for most if not all sizes. Based on the lack of stock for at least the last two month there is no wonder the sales have dropped off. Wrong. Don’t know about pre Xmas but all sizes of the hom...

Re: New kit

This is the third year we have had hooped shirts that look remarkably similar and sales are down this year so I presume the assumption is that a fourth year of hoops would see sales drop even further. The assumption must be that something different will boost sales or at least avoid a further drop. ...

Just looked at our last three home shirts and they are so similar it’s easy to see why this season’s offering hasn’t sold well.
Yes we should have hoops as an option but the design has got to be noticeably different in some way if they are going to sell well.

If I was being cynical I could suggest this was a deliberate plan to get Darlo into trouble. Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

Don’t think we’ll need £6m initially, I reckon a third of that will build something that will be acceptable for National league with the scope to upgrade fairly easily from a logistics point of view for FL. Of course still plenty of issues raising that sum but it’s got to be a 5-10 year project. Mo...

Re: Interview with Johnston on Official Website

What bothers me about BM is what will happen when our current license runs out. If the rugby club have got their debts paid off by then they could easily refuse to extend it or worse offer an even worse deal than the one we have now knowing we have no other options. Much as I dislike the Arena it ma...

DJ said on BT sport pre Walsall that the club would be debt free at the end of this financial year so I would assume this means all
personal loans will have been repaid, presumably from the cup money.

To me, second half, a lot of our players looked like they needed a rest. They seemed tired mentally as well as physically. The cup run seems to have taken a lot out of them and, while adrenalin will have helped keep them going in the cup, it’s not there in a league match. We desperately need more bo...

I notice on the official site that there will be bag searches at the turnstiles tomorrow night. Problem with that is that the flare throwers are unlikely to be carrying them in a bag, more likely in their coat pocket. Hopefully there is a plan to spot likely suspects and check any bulging pockets.
