According to The Northern Echo, the club will be releasing a retained list this week and there are a small number of contracted players who aren't in Wright's plans.
My guess would be Marrs, Burgess and Caton.

Re: Transfer targets for next season.
Would prefer Thsimanga who’s just been released from Boston over him mainly because he’s younger (21) scores 16 goals in all comps in the season just gone, Has played for Wright before and he could develop him into a better player so that we could eventually get some money for him in the future Cou...

Re: Transfer targets for next season.
How about Ashley Worsfold as a potential? Scores goals at this level, forward and currently out of contact albeit offered terms from Gainsborough.

Re: Scott, Mills, Milburn & Hume Released
Did Glover actually sign a contract? I'd read that he couldn't sign a contract until he turned 17. Did he actually sign one? From the squad I would obviously release Burgess and Marrs who aren't in Tommy plans. Hopefully they will want to look for first team football and not want to sit on the cont...

Is OHanlon contracted? Yes, until the end of next season. Under contract for definite are: Trotman, Marrs, Heaton, Galbraith, Collins, Burgess, Vaulks, O'Hanlon, Thompson, Turnbull, Wheatley, Syers, Glover, Gillies, Caton, Styche & Saunders Unsure: Bancroft, Hunter, Portas Hunter has a year left I ...

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
No problem! But I do agree having only one senior GK and one youth as a back-up is the best way to go. Last year at the photo-shoot in pre-season we had Bartlett, Wilczynski and Jameson! Absolutely crazy, only to then bring in Richards when we had two right-backs, and Fenwick when we had four forwar...

Re: Local Clubs Released Players
Bland could be a shout alongside Russell. I wonder if Wright is interested in Nathan Jarman? A proper goalscorer at this level; currently 31 although I wouldn't be unhappy with bringing him in on a one year deal to partner Styche. In my opinion we should only have one senior goalkeeper and a youth ...

Re: Terry Galbraith and Josh Gillies
Great news. Giving Hunter and Portas pre-season to show their worth sounds a sensible decision too. So if Brown and Scott are gone, hopefully we can move on Caton, Mills, Burgess and Marrs. That hopefully leaves some space to bring in a striker and keeper as priorities and then see what happens wit...

Re: Terry Galbraith and Josh Gillies
Great news IMO.
Portas and Hunter I think will be invited back to pre-season as both are out of contract I believe.
That would leave question marks on Marrs, Burgess and Caton.

All the best to all 4 in the future, and of course Gary Brown.
Brown and Scott in particular have been fantastic servants for the club and have really epitomised what this football club is about in the last 6 years.

Re: Transfer targets for next season.
Regarding the out-of-contract players I guess we will find out soon as contracts expire on the 5th of May.
Personally I wouldn't mind seeing us take up the extra year on Gillies but that would depend on other outgoings.

Re: Transfer targets for next season.
Marrs has good pedigree and you'd like to think that there would be interest higher than the Northern League. Didn't he win POTS at Boston and then we'd signed him that summer? Location is the issue for Marrs I believe, he wants to stay local which obviously limits the options. I read he was based ...

Re: Transfer targets for next season.
It'll be interesting to see what the outcome is from the V9 Academy which is set to take place early June. Wheatley in particular I think has a very good chance of being snapped up. I think what's really important is that we have Galbraith and Glover sign new deals in the coming weeks, and then it'l...

Re: Darlington FC v Nuneaton Town
Brown didn't have the best of games going forward but to say he's not good as a right back is a bit harsh. Also his distribution is usually far better than it was yesterday. Considering the sum total of his playing time in the last 2 months has been about 20 minutes I thought he did ok. He was out ...

He has a solid record from his time at Solihull Moors in the Conference North, although this may have been a flash in the pan as nothing has stuck since.LoidLucan wrote:And asante is now dire, according to the tamworth fans.

Re: Transfer targets for next season.
Obviously we would require outgoings given the projected reduction in playing budget to bring in two or three players, and the below is pure optimistic speculation; Aman Verma - Leicester based, played under TW at Corby, currently at relegated Tamworth, good player for this level. Adam Boyes - As Q...

Although we weren't at our best today, we still created chances and were the better team overall despite playing less than 48 hours earlier.
O'Hanlon was outstanding for me.

Re: New stand now under construction
I think that the temporary seats should be priced up to be moved, after all we did pay for them and the whole idea IIRC was to improve the view/experience whilst we were at Heritage Park. It's an asset that we own, sat at another ground. Even if it costs a fortune, it's surely worth putting the feel...

Re: Clock's ticking for Spendy
Good draw for them yesterday in the FA Trophy, at Conference side Bromley. I'm sure that as they are so well supported, they'll have a massive crowd for the replay!! Spennymoor get a far larger % of their population to watch their team than Darlington do Pete. 2011 Census - population of Darlington...

I think it's natural for fans to speculate regarding the ground and any future plans for the Football League (if that ever happens). At the moment however, I do not feel as though we have a 'ground problem'. We are within a very short distance of ensuring that we have the necessary amount of covered...

I'm certainly along the lines of Shawry, I.E safeguarding in place, and I do have the feeling that the majority of fans would listen to what any investor had to say, as would the board going off the comments on the NetCafe earlier this month.

Re: Darlo vs Bradford Match Thread
I actually felt we played well yesterday and tactically set-up the right way with last Saturday in mind. Although Cartman was isolated at times, it clearly helped the shape with Syers dropping in to create a midfield 5. It was also clear that we were a little more decisive with the ball. I.E playing...
