They’re full time professionals. They will likely add a handful of players to the squad rather than overhaul as it isn’t necessary (Simon Weaver has said exactly this today).

Looks to me like the chairman wants to get shot of the current squad because they cost too much in the current circumstances so they can start again with a more sustainable model. A shame, as he looked like he could become a very useful player for us longer-term.

Trotman has had his head turned towards becoming a Z list celebrity as opposed to anything else. Ultimately, he will probably make more from that than a standard career and semi-pro football, or even the lower reaches of professional football, so I can't blame him.

I wouldn't expect any player to declare the salary as an alluring factor in their unveiling.

The money Thommo has been allegedly offered is staggering.

The bit about speculation I never quite understand is why we covet knackered ex-Boro/Newcastle/Sunderland players such as Tony McMahon.

Even if the benefactor pumps in serious cash, it is by no means a guarantee of success.

It'll be very interesting to watch this unfold from afar.
