Re: Mowden's 1st game at the arena
It's an odd scenario as most of the people I've talked to (including people who were volunteers today!) don't agree with any stage of the move! They turned up and it's been all over my facebook. Apparently the boxes were sold at £25 quid a head, but the rugby club took only £1.50pp as they've hired...

Re: Mowden Park
They've taken on a lot with the Arena and it's raised eyebrows among the local rugby fraternity. BUT they are not owned and run by a dictatorial lunatic who revels in causing friction and pissing people off nor by a businessman who's not really interested in sport and just has his eye on making a w...

I'm a massive DFC fan and have always attended as much as possible, which means I see things from both sides. But I know just as well as most that being a Quaker is never easy! And it is always 'why us' and its bloody justified feeling like that as well

Re: Mowden Park
It's not a regular arrangement, it's the norm. I can only assume that the parking charges were agreed between the council and Reynolds as part of the planning process. As far as the rugby club are concerned there will never be any charge for parking, private land and its up to them.

Re: Darlington RA
The football and cricket grounds combined would be big enough! Just saying like As far as I was aware the cricket side was doing ok, obviously last season they took a hit what with the weather but nothing major. Isnt the football and the cricket stuff run seperately anyway? If the football side is ...

I know the rent was 10k a year for Radge Strings. Thought it had gone up when 1883 board were negotiating although I could be mistaken. But yeah good luck to them.
Roll on weds 16th when hopefully we can have a 'home' match to enjoy!

Re: Arena news article
Ok I'm not going to get into an argument on this as I'm definitely in the "Darlo should never return to the Arena" brigade, we are well out of there in my opinion, but DMPRFC's running costs are going to be nowhere near the 270k mark. For a start there is no rent, they actually own the place, plus a...

Re: Arena news article
I think people will be surprised at how well Mowden will do a the arena, just m opinion of course cage running costs are nowhere near as bad as people think, and the majority of the stadium has been mothballed anyway. The club have been using it for training this week and plan to play games there fr...

Re: Interesting Article
Very interesting indeed. Who the hell is on £600 a week? I know Adam Boyd was rumoured to be on that. The figures don't include us but one club spends up to £180,000 a year - that's staggering looking at clubs who get gates of 100-300. A wage bill of £180,000 over a 38 week season is nearly 5 grand...

Exactly, in my opinion we are simply letting a player who is nowhere near our first team move on. Nothing to do with budgets most likelyQuakerz wrote:Irritatingly poor speculation about going over budget, chaps.

Re: Match Thread V Bay 3rd Nov 2012
Yeah I concur, it was bloody freezing!! Thompson was pretty awful in the first half, looked almost uninterested, was much better in the 2nd half but still nowhere near his best for me, despite his 2 assists. Bay were pretty strong, Robinson did look a player and I can see why people rate him so much...

Re: Darlington rugby clubs future ??
Possible but IMO highly unlikely. It's another one that's been mooted around on and off for the last few years. The main thing stopping it is each clubs respective committees, it would never pass a vote. If it doesn't pass a vote then its a non-starter.
