Re: New Assistant Manager

He talks like he understands the game, but so can a lot of people. Sadly not everybody can. While I understand your comparison, to me Gowling comes across as intelligent, articulate and someone who knows what he wants to achieve and how he plans to achieve it. He clearly has a passion and knowledge...

Re: New Assistant Manager

Feels Like Gowling was possibly the right man but very much at the wrong time - an experiment to try when a team isn't in freefall. DJ has taken action and the two appointments have a very solid feel about it. Hoping Steve W keeps it simple for the players. Heard on the radio yesterday that the bir...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson

Been there tried that with combinations of those 3 front players. It did not work. We had to change it. That’s not to say Gowling didn’t make a hash of changes but nevertheless keeping things the same and expecting a different result is the worst thing we could’ve done. Back on topic, Steve Watson ...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson

Just seen Hazels goal, fantastic finish. Know we have to move on but what we would give for a front 3 of Felix, Barnes, Hazel going forward. Creativity, pace and a finisher, exactly what Watson has to somehow get back in very quickly. So many very poor mistakes by AA, JG and the board. Quite a task...

Re: Good luck Steve Watson

Sensible appointment and time period , hopefully he does a better job than Gowling did of unraveling Armstrongs mess He's going to have to unravel Gowling's mess... Correct. Alun left us with an unbalanced squad, stacked with full-backs & without a target-man, but he left a solid enough core for a ...

Re: How is this being paid for?

Funny how Armstrong was given a two year deal and then had his budget cut, only to be sacked and his successor given the money he wasn’t allowed to spend. Poor form from the board that. Armstrong had enough credit in the bank from previous seasons (cup runs, tv games, player sales) to be given ever...

Re: Who next?

For me Martin Gray is the obvious choice until the end of the season, he's available, he take's no prisoners - dropping out of this league will set us back years, the people that don't want him back need to bite their tongue for now if it means we stay up. There is no obvious other choice. Needs mu...

Re: How is this being paid for?

Don’t worry Martin Gray says he’ll work for free…that’ll help IF this is true I don’t see that we have any choice tbh. Beggars can’t be choosers Depends what the actual financial situation is and who else is available. I'd take Fenton if finances allow, over Gray for free. Gray will further divide ...

Re: Who next?

The thing is, regardless of who comes in, they are facing a very difficult squad & staff dynamic, and that is putting it politely. We have Asante on huge wages who isn't even fit enough for walking football. What is very clear from his, and Gowling's, interviews from when Asante signed was that the ...

Re: JG sacked

Sadly Gowling has already caused too much damage for whoever is appointed. I hope I am wrong, but I think we are in too deep with how much we backed him. The accommodation, paid analyst, Asante’s wages, selling Hazel etc. Alun left us with an unbalanced squad. It wasn’t ideal, but with the resource...

Great result, let’s get behind the lads and manager, no surprise statto (aka 97) has not appeared in this thread !!
I’m here, watching.

A very good result. However, let’s not get too carried away, we are 3 wins from 14 & our PPG under JG still isn’t high enough to keep us up.

Don't think away followings are much of a money spinner. The bigger clubs all know that the facilities are crap, and there attendees reflect this. So what you’re saying Lo is it’s about 300K plus about 150 K BTB ?
The £300k figure is a guesstimate on my part, but it is a figure inclusive of Boost the Budget.

It really goes to show how important it is, really.

It is a wonder how we can simultaneously manage to have a top half playing budget for NLN but barely be competitive two divisions below. Again, that isn't what I said. Where did I say that? Re: Hodgy

That was a significant haircut on previous 4 seasons then, and surprising that it still puts you in the top half budget for this level. Guess had to maintain the £140k+ of non playing staff budget from somewhere. As you mention all other clubs, including those at this level, have other revenue gene...

I think I had our playing budget at around £350k-£400k (but not sure which accounts I had picked that up from to be honest). I am not sure where I see us losing £150k-£200k of revenue. Our playing budget is not that high. It’ll have been set around the £300k mark this season. Whether the club have ...

That isn't my point. You said it would be covered. Well it's not going to be in full, is it? Probably not but we also don't know what % has already been paid.. What is your point then!? Re: Hodgy

Marske spent £150k on player wages in the 21/22 season at Step 4. If we were to be relegated, our budget would not be massively different to that. Perhaps around the £200k mark at Step 3, and that isn't a lot, IMO. I've lost where our nearly £800k of income (£700k operating revenue + £100k+ of boos...
