Re: Chorley

I don’t think there’s anyone among our fan base who is absolutely against private investment it’s just a question of there being a safeguard against idiots. Tbh I can’t imagine many idiots being interested at this point. We’ve no real assets of interest. The only true safeguard you can put in place...

Re: Chorley

Not recall the supporters protests at fc united and they have done nothing off the field on recent times. FC United are on the most impressive community clubs that there is. Off the field Broadhurst Park is a hub for multiple sports clubs, I believe they use their classrooms in the ground for educa...

Re: Chorley

I'm also not sure that either Wycombe or Portsmouth have made the kind of break neck speed progress that would make you say the sale to private ownership was absolutely brilliant. I think Wycombe are in the same league, and Portsmouth moved up one - but who would argue Portsmouth belong in league t...

Re: Chorley

Theres good and bad points for fan ownership but whats worth looking at is clubs like portsmouth and wycombe etc who were fan owned for a few year until been sold to business men. Im guessing they hit the ceiling under fan ownership. Also not all fan ran clubs are well ran or even debt free, as men...

Re: Gateshead

Bearing in mind we took I believe 12k to Wembley for our FA Trophy win against Mansfield, Gateshead managed only to take 5k for their loss to Halifax. That's pretty poor support in my opinion. Jesus man you are obsessed with gatesheads support. I doubt darlington would take 5k now. Was a good day o...

Re: D.J. interview online now.

Which is what happened to Gateshead. Except gateshead fans never had any ownership until 2019, graeme wood or the bennots would have sold to a consortium of fans and business men im sure but they never got offer from such parties. Gateshead nearly went bust after being sold to some charlatans aroun...

Re: D.J. interview online now.

Been reading comments on this thread and theres various opinion's on fan ownership and some benefactor taking over but has any middle ground been tabled i.e. a consortium, gateshead and barrow are operated this way. No one has a majority share, with ownership split way, each owning 20% including fan...

Re: Gateshead

I saw most of the game on BT Sport. Quite honestly those who stayed at home missed nowt. A very dull game with little goalmouth action. Also reminded me how ineffective Adam Campbell is. AC had a poor game but he wasn’t the only one to be fair. He’s a very important part of their set up and had a d...

Re: D.J. interview online now.

Major investment would be a gamble, but one we would have to take (if the opportunity arises), if our ambition is to progress through the leagues. We're clearly at the limit of what we can achieve with the current model - and there's no shame in that. AFC Wimbledon (21st League Two) Chesterfield (N...

Re: D.J. interview online now.

You need a bit of luck, I think, to be able to really kick on. Other than that it seems patience is the key. For an example of the kind of luck you need, look at Exeter's games against Manchester United which seemed to give them the finances to really develop. That along with gradual, organic progr...

Re: D.J. interview online now.

The problem isn’t always who we sell to, it’s who they then sell to. We’ve had one offer of investment in 11 years, from the parasite that put us in this position. I’d be extremely hesitant to accept any major investment. You make a good point. A part of me is content to keep turning up to watch NL...

Re: National League North 23/24 - FA League Allocations

I question that the 'national league' should actually be a national league anyway. It's a recipe for financial disaster stories and we shouldn't have non-league sides having to do monster journeys on limited budgets. Expand the football league to 100 sides, and below that, make football regional. A...

Just had a friend lose their job with GAS whilst on holiday, feel for the staff working there & not having a job especially in the current climate. Hope they all get sorted. I notice they have changed their admission prices from £10 to free of charge. I can’t work out if you need to be a member to book tickets though?! Re: National League North 23/24 - FA League Allocations

A lot of the pyramid is in dire need of restructuring. The only solution would be to go to 4 divisions at step 2 - but the impact of that would be to remove a promotion spot / playoff spot. What people fail to recognise is that the leagues are representative of the distribution of the population in...

The pyramid has been restructured alot over the past few year and not sure what more the fa can do. Add a national league midland division and have 6 teams going down from national league or daft inter league play offs or have lopsided conference north and south division. Im sick of teams moaning ab...
