Re: Blyth V Darlington
Quite a decent unofficial preview this, although Gowling and Asante won't be so keen on it .... https://www.blythsgreenarmy.co.uk/darlington-12-03-2024-preview-supporter-info/?fbclid=IwAR2nLd1QH8TtR-WGBgIIVfeUCzuxNuZUsL872zmBDn0iQq6Zk6M_qlG5u04 I enjoyed reading the Blyth preview - fair and fratern...

Re: Needed points minimum
I agree that Main is a vital cog for us - the way he held off Spen's full back then nut-megged him for that early chance was great to see at our level. Watch it again on the highlights - real ability.

Re: The Darlo Fans Radio Podcast
Is this the first approach from an outside investor? What about gambling with the money raised by the fans? Interesting to see what starts coming through - like the lengthy post about fan ownership - once the team starts winning again.

Re: Darlo V Scunthorpe
I woke up this morning from a beautiful dream where Darlo had beaten Scunthorpe 4-0. It was such a lovely idea that I just had to back to sleep to enjoy my reverie a little longer. I am writing this from my sleep, so please world, don't wake me up and spoil my dream. 'Dreams are for those who sleep...

Re: Darlington v Banbury 2/03/24
This game is indeed massive - and huge, enormous, gigantic, very very big, colossal, mammoth, ginormous and hopefully monumental and season defining too. By the end of tomorrow we could be sitting level on points with Banbury and ready to turn over Scunthorpe on Tuesday. In the last ten games we ha...

Re: Curzon V Darlington
I have to agree with comments made regarding Toby Lees. He was largely anonymous earlier in the season, but is much improved since SW and TM came in, and I thought he was MoM last night. Also I think it is fair to say that Platt is looking much more like the player we hoped he would be when he firs...

Re: Asante
Having scoffed at the guy since he came I have to see that this could be Asante's moment and it would be good to get something back from him. I say this because the team is beginning to click and with Nelson and Main making things happen he must put some of the chances away. Watson is doing a good j...

Re: Darlington v Buxton
A famous victory steered by Nelson - a shame useless seadogs couldn't score at Gloucester. Quakers might be holed below the bows and shipping water worse than Middlesbrough but with a fair wind and a salty dog in charge safe harbour after stormy sea and all that. Delighted for Nella.

Re: South Shields v Darlo
;) Shields down to 10 men after 10 minutes. We never seen to take advantage of these situations, but we really must today. Yes, we might get a point - sorry to be sarcastic but a team that doesn't score won't win any games. And a side that doesn't score but gives away silly goals will lose no matte...

Re: Darlington v Alfreton 10/02/24
If it wasn't for Hatfield telling him what he should do the ref would have carried on with the game with a player on two yellows. Never seen anything like it. Surely that's just basic stuff for the officials, keeping record of who has been booked. One for our referee on the forum. If the referee ha...

Reading these stories about Scunthorpe and Chorley makes me feel better about our present static situation. Were not really static though - on our way to a place where we we neednt have to face teams like these two. Do you reckon their fans want to be where we are? This sort of schaudenwhstsit does...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
It should be transparent already that our club is trying as hard as it can with very limited resources, steered by well meaning people who are having to learn very quickly in a tough environment. All the extended scrutiny of what a contract looks like or where Asante is or why the board are unable t...

Re: Brackley v Darlington
Unfortunately you just knew that once they scored it was then a case of Operation Certain Defeat. We have improved in aspects of our play, in holding on to possession and defending a bit better, but overall we remain consistently toothless. We look a dead man walking and winning several games to ke...

Re: Asante
What has this player actually contributed to the cause? Whatever the club are paying him is a complete waste of money we haven't got. The board look culpable to me because they must have waived through Gowlings decision. A proper manager like Watson won't play him and who can we off-load him to? A h...

Re: Banbury V Darlington
We started brightly against what was a poor team last night, but they could pass to each other, and move once passed which often left them in space to recieve a pass where we are static. There were only 3 shots on target from memory from both teams, and they ended up in goals. Midfield were all ove...

Re: Darlington v Hereford
Last month that late goal would have been the other team getting an equaliser. Wonderful it was us, and how well the team played. We can win at Banbury then all bets are off for who goes down. With a manager who can organise the players this is a decent enough side. So good to see Hatfield at the ce...

Re: Darlington V Scunthorpe
This might be a bit negative but a windy game could level things out and hamper the better team more than the other. That would be in our favour of course - every little helps and if Asante plays the ball might bump into him and confuse their keeper on the way in at a queer angle. I can't imagine hi...

He sounds like a villain from a Batman film  Yes, I think it's helpful to see the funny side of life in Darloland at times like this. Alun Armstrong would have to be The Penguin and if The Natural could see this they might get over him. Hodgsons' more excitable moments made him sound like The...

Re: v Tamworth
I say 0-0 featuring a worldie from Tommy Taylor - 50 years, Ed Johns and I might recall the same result when QPR with Rodney Marsh came to Feethams as league leaders in 1967. Mind you we had Yoggie and Joe Jacques on that night.

Remember him as a capable manager at Boro - about 40 years ago and a long suffering teacher for ILEA before that so managing at Hartlepool shouldn't trouble him. Maybe he'll bring back Joe Allon and Don Hutchison or Ernie Pythian. Dafter things happen in NE sporting circles these days. Was he in for...

When things are going against you. I suspected it at the time but the highlights seems to confirm Carver was offside in the build up to the first goal. The highlights actually miss out some of the defending in the run up to it, which I think was even worse than what happened immediately before it w...

Re: Southport
Those considering the promotion in the near future to the national league, suggest you watch a few games in that league. The standard is a massive step up from our league in quality and standard, we could not compete at this time with our budget, and I am sure, although the board are ambitious for ...

Re: Southport
I thought we could win at Kings Lynn but a point might not be too bad at Southport. Great to see the difference already regarding commitment and durability - and a Curry on the score sheet again. Different spelling but I anticipate at least one 'Curry too hot for ...' this half. A win would be the b...

At least it's only a loan so minimal commitment, but 35 year olds who suffer serious injuries don't have a great track record! Seems a good character though from watching a couple of interviews, so will hopefully bring something to the squad one way or another. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapata...

As sensible appointment as we could've made I think, and with hindsight probably the one that should've been made a couple of months ago. You'd expect he'll get the backing of the vast majority of our supporters having solid experience at this level and being from the north east. Nice to see the ar...

Re: Who next?
Probably right. The time to have got him was in September when we had a clear run at it before JG rocked up from Grimsby with his data charts and head full of nonsense. We've double fucked this up, firstly by turning down quality applicants for Howling, secondly by taking too long to sack him and a...

Re: Darlington V Scarborough
Well I suppose that's some sort of clarity - the team can't lift itself when it really had to against a workmanlike (in a positive sense) Scarborough team so I'd say we're certain to go down. Gray isn't coming back so the sensitivities of the 'divided' fans can get over their fit of the vapours and ...

Re: Who next?
MG is saying all the right things but probably the best route would have been talking to the board behind the scenes. Doing it publicly like this does have the look of backing the board into a corner. Things could be very complicated if others have already been spoken to about the job. His offer do...
