Re: Today's results Saturday January 25th 2020

Thanks Ginge. All starting to get very interesting and a lot of 'six-pointers' coming up which could cause big changes. Good point about Gateshead's fixture backlog. Will all be about teams that can put a consistent run of wins together. We have done it once so fingers crossed we can do it again

Re: Chester game....

Would have been nice to take a point home, but on the day, we were never up to it. Missed Hatfield, Liddĺe, Galbraith et al, also a bit too early for Atkinson & Laing to take on a very lively side who seemed up for making the playoffs. Shame that the winning streak came tò an end, but time to regrou...

Re: Chester game....

Team news from club website:- Darlington defender Louis Laing, who went off early in the Guiseley game with a hamstring injury, has passed himself fit this afternoon, but midfielder Will Hatfield is ruled out. David Atkinson replaces Hatfield -- Atkinson's first full start since his recovery from in...

Re: Chester game....

Another "six pointer" match, just when our squad is stretched to the limit. Hopefully, the lads can find enough to keep a clean sheet although with a makeshift defence, this will be very difficult. Wonder if AA has something up his sleeve to unsettle Chester & please the DAFTS

Re: Guiseley

Atky made it off the bench, Reid did another great job as CB stand-in, Campbell stuck another pen away, Hatfield really enjoyed scoring against his old club, everyone else contributed to the win and 350 (est) away fans see us climb up to 6th. Who would have believed this with all the injuries we hav...

He does sound like a good fit and would be a welcome addition to the squad. If he does come, hope he is up for the physicality of the NLN and lack of protection from match officials.

Re: Guiseley

I don't fancy our chances of catching Brackley so hope they win tonight and keep Boston in our reach. I would say the top 4 will more or less stay as it is so hopefully they can beat the teams around us when they play. If we can pick up the three points tonight it would be absolutely massive. Equal...

Re: Lambert leaves

Sorry to see him go, but am guessing that our priorities have changed in view of Tez's injury leaving us without much cover in defence. It may be that AA has another possible loan in mind, and Lambert's departure is a case of balancing the books. Reid did a great job in dropping back in 2nd half v A...

Re: Darlington V Alfreton

Campbell took his chances very calmly so no surprise he took MOTM. Having said that, he was pushed very hard for it bý several others, including Reid who did a great job in 2nd half as he stepped in for injured Galbraith. Donawa always a handful & capped it off with the final goal. Elliott kept a cl...

Telford? Their game v Blyth is postponed but rest all seem to be on. Quite a few interesting clashes which will affect promotion chasers.

Whole thing may be academic unless this rain stops. Just been out walking near BM & all the fields have some standing water in. It will be a tester for our drains but forecast good for tomorrow, so fingers crossed the game is on.

Re: Darlington V Alfreton

Liddle will be a big miss for that long, a loan will probably be looked at longer term, but I'd expect Watson to slot in on Saturday or us to go 3 at the back if Alun is uneasy with playing 2 unnatural full backs. Agreed Liddle will be a big miss, but AA has a number of options to cope with a big p...

First of a run of games against teams in the play-off mix, and could be a vital 6 pointer. If we can get a win here, it will be a great boost.

Fixture backlog starting to build for a few rival teams so may come down to squad size & quality for the run in, which is rapidly approaching.

Re: Today's results Saturday January 11th 2020

From club's website, fixture lists 8 games & some tough ones on the belt. Even with that 'extra' game, I think 16 points is bit optimistic as we are playing a few of our rivals for the play-off spots. If we manage to take 16pts, it would improve our chances vastly.

Re: Today's results Saturday January 11th 2020

Yes, too early to rule Alfreton out and agree it is a big game for both sides. They did not play this weekend so will be fresher. Perhaps we were lucky to avoid playing Boston this Sat, as lads looked a bit tired after Harrogate. AA needs time to shuffle the pack & bring back to match fitness a coup...

Re: Martin Signs - Finally!

Made a decent debut and gave us a target in the middle who was able to lay some balls off or hold it. This is something we have been lacking most of this season, until Reid came along. Will give AA more attacking options which hopefully will take some pressure off Thommo.

Re: Harrogate Match

Harrogate were several notches above us & Solihull. The lads looked tired & not even our new signing could lift us. Thommo had a few half chances but never put his laces through the ball. No disgrace, but lots of progress on last season, maybe fringes of the play-offs.

Re: Harrogate Match

Not hard to predict that Harrogate will bring more fans than Solihull or that they will be a lot tougher to beat. Useful having the "result on the day" as would not like to build up a fixture backlog when our lads are only part-time, especially with the prospect of the play-offs looming. So we're n...

Agreed, but on the upside, more time for those squad players coming back from old injuries to regain fitness & may strengthen our bench to give us more options.
