Re: Cause and effect

And if it isn't.

I just wonder if our crowds would remain if we reached our limit, and it wasn't the Conference/Div 2. Would we still be happy to have the moral high ground of spending what we earn, or would we be casting envious glances at those with a benefactor.

Re: Cause and effect

Let's see if we all remember these comments if/when we hit the ceiling our crowds impose on us. When we've stagnated for a while, will we be crying out for an investor? Will those having a pop still be attending week on week if, for example we got stuck at say Conference North for 2 or 3 seasons

Re: What happened to the Paul Garthwaite thread and why?

Wouldn't have thought the majority would be following him on twitter, or even use twitter. Therefore hardly the same thing - and nothing to do with complaining about celebrations at the end of the game. The plumsack was liberal with his Darlo hashtags My point was about us apparently making an offi...

Re: What happened to the Paul Garthwaite thread and why?

Not official yet, but I have heard that we have made a complaint about the behaviour of the west players at ft on Saturday. Apparently some Darlo fans were shouting death threats at the likes of Campbell and Rundle, why is it when nearly everybody boycotts and there is a low number there, that the ...

Re: Goal-den Goals - Fundraising approved by DFC1883

Are you serious? Did you think about this at all? Ok we average 4 goals per game. We have at least 23 league games after December. So your 50p minimum per goal is equal to £46 based on averages. Crazy suggestion. Each time we score, stick 50p in a jar. And we'll do very well to average 4 goals a ga...

Re: Billingham Synthonia 1-4 Darlington - Extended Highlight

I just want to take this opportunity to say what a resounding success the game was on Saturday. It was a pleasure to have the Darlington fans at the game and I hope they enjoyed their afternoon with us. Darlington deserved to win but Synners gave a very good display in the first half and can be ext...

Re: Food for thought

It's a valid point. We've been virtually invincible and our amazing support has had an influence for sure. It would be a disappointing if we lose at West Auckland because our 12th man didn't turn up. Then, like you suggest, where will it end? Other clubs will see it as a leveller. The players will ...

I note that when a roundup of matches played in both divisions of NL that all teams get a mention together with scorers and incidents of note in the game...except that is us!! The latest report on the site for us is - "Darlington are now nine points clear at the top after thumping Ashington 6-1 at ...

Re: Spenny

Do you know what the budget is for Spennymoor? As has been said £6k is the rumoured amount and with 24 contracted players and backroom staff which by the sounds of it takes the total staffing to 32...that equates to £187.50 on average per week per person. I know that West Auckland players are on co...

Re: Spenny

When Brad Groves took over Spenny he came with a 5 year plan. We are in year 4 of that plan. He want's to get the foundations and infastructure right within the club before we move up the leagues (hopefully). Plans have been submitted for a new club house, new floodlights, and two new covered stand...

Re: Darlington v South Shields Highlights

Just watched the highlights. Strange no-ones commented on Tait, I think, deciding to jog off the end of the wall just before the lad strikes the freekick through the exact same gap he leaves. On a separate note, nice to see a half page in the Daily Express on the mighty Darlo. Wonder what NLZ will m...

There are seemingly other areas more in need of strengthening, namely a better goalkeeper.
Two a penny at this level, surely!
10. I have only seen Norton once, Billingham at home, and I honestly think I could have done a better job.
Plenty of evidence that to build an opinio...

Re: Spenny going up.....

We need to show we have ambition, if it was ever in doubt. Without doubt Amos is going to be a thorn when we win the league and opt for promotion. He may never have really wanted us there, but now he has us there and the other members chairmen see us as a revenue stream, it could prove a difficult ...

Re: Darlington v Newcastle Benfield Match Thread

The ball was bobbling an awful lot today. Agreed but surely as a keeper the first thing you should be doing is getting your body behind the ball? Do the simple things well and the rest will follow, i would think this has happened to every keeper at some time - poor backpass and bad bobble. Has much...

If the rest of the league are happy to have this ritual, why should it be abandoned for one new team who don't want to do it? When in Rome, and all that.
