Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
I'm not sure we will be in the business of spending any more than necessary. If moving the stands from BM is a cheap option, I imagine we would do it. I'm still yet to be convinced we will have access to anything like that amount of money. It seems like fantasy economics to me. I'll be more than hap...

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
On a side note, Rugby Club bods I know say, according to the terms of the lease, that they will inherit the assets we have installed at BM and we can't take them with us. Can anyone verify this? IF we were to get a 5,000-6,000 capacity stadium (and that is a big if, because it's all subject to plan...

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
Just to add a couple of further points from the recent fans' forum with DJ - and these are only my interpretations of what DJ was saying. He mentioned that the 4G pitch could / should be the first part of a new stadium development to be built - hopefully providing a revenue stream for the club up-f...

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
We didn’t move the temporary stands from Bishop because it was put to a public vote I don't remember it boiling down to this? I recall it being quite high cost and given they wouldn't benefit ground grading it wasn't commercially viable to do it? I suspect it will boil down to commercial viability ...

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
I think it would be nice to know what the situation is with next season if we were to be promoted. I find only talking about the football league ground criteria as running before we can walk, and the league above should be our focus. Christ, look at Wrexham. They’re being generously funded by one of...

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
The club have released what they call an update, but I am very much struggling to find any new information in there whatsoever? Beyond that they hope to choose a site by the end of the year I think we knew everything else.

I’m pretty surprised no one in the level above fancied him. But maybe they wouldn’t pay what Fylde have. Fake plastics that they are.

Of the two I would prefer Faverdale but both are much worse than trying to buy a plot at Blackwell.
Hopefully whenever the club release some details there is more to it than the political backing of a mayor on borrowed time.

All the best to him. I think it was worth the gamble on our behalf. Wonder if someone like Blyth might give him a crack, if he’s still up for it. Not much detail in the statement as to why. It could be that he doesn’t fancy it anymore.

The beard aside, he hasn't changed much over the years! I'll always remember him for his goal against Grimsby on the opening day of the 2004/05 season, we sh*thoused it that day! Thought exactly the same, the bugger must have found the fountain of youth somewhere around here. He must be over 50, he...

Re: FA Cup Q3
Pre season we all thought that Hazel was a proper goalscorer, played most games as the lone forward and looked a real threat, even against decent opposition. We then signed beck and have asked him to play a completely different role to he probably ever has! For me, he is not a wide left, and either...

Re: Darlington V Blyth
Similar game to Saturday. They were neat and tidy, but lacked anything up top. We were sloppy all over the pitch - poor passing, bad first touch, choosing wrong option. One of Lambert's worst games I think. Nothing really worked for him, and his set pieces were mostly dreadful. One thing I would sa...

Re: FA Cup Q3
If it ever came to it, I’d like to think the Rugby Club would allow concrete step terracing at the open end to get us up to the required 4,000 capacity (in the event we were to be promoted). It would, of course, all have to be at our expense. The Rugby Club don’t want wholesale stadium changes to g...

Re: Early kick offs in general…
To be honest, I hate them, but this winter it's going to make sense. I'd sooner it's only a slight adjustment rather than *much* earlier (i.e. midday). 2 pm should be more than enough though, given most games they aren't needed for the first half.

Re: Shock as Spendy 'Both sides' trouble
Aye, maybe you're right. I find it all mealy-mouthed and weasel-worded. 'Colleagues' follows that pattern, and let's be honest, it wasn't only from the end of the game. I've no time for our fans chucking stuff, but I think we know *why* something was thrown... because their player, in a moment of ce...

Re: August thoughts
I feel like September will really give us an idea of what to expect this season. I'm still very optimistic.
Boston (H)
Telford (A)
Bradford PA (A)
Peterborough S (H)
Blyth (H)
Very interesting. I still believe we can make the playoffs this year.

Re: Fathers and sons who played for Darlington
Rhys Armstrong is still on the books isn't he? Google says he is 19... apparently he has played for Blyth (when he was 16!) but I can't find a record of him playing for us. I'd assume he has at least played a Durham cup game, but I don't ever recall him featuring in the first team. There isn't much ...

Re: Darlington v Banbury Aug 20th
A loan would definitely make sense. We don't know if another knock could be just around the corner. But of course there's a lot of variables in terms of expected playing time vs who we could get (If Wheater and Lawlor are only out very short term). We are light in that area and the budget is presuma...

Re: Darlington v Banbury Aug 20th
We concede too many goals. I'd be inclined to try Liddle and Purver as it may give the defence some more support. Unfortunately that would mean dropping Moke. Tbh we have a small squad so everyone should get plenty of game time, although I think Rivers time may well be up (i'd persist with Mondal as...

Re: Spennymoor Away (KO 1pm)
There's no way it's the safest way to segregate the ground for a larger away following. You could give a larger allocation by using a different chunk of the ground with far more easy to control areas for segregation. It would be safer, easier to police/steward, and you'd sell more tickets too (it wo...

Re: Spennymoor Away (KO 1pm)
I despise lunchtime kick offs and I don't see why we have to put up with them at our level. Anyone who wants to get pissed up and act like an idiot does it anyway and it staggers me that the police haven't learned this yet. Did you ever see Newcastle on a derby day? They just all start drinking at 9...

Re: New stadium funding
It doesn't. We seem to be relying on Ben Houchen to conjure some stadium fairies. He will presumably also conjure an indoor arena and a bunch of infrastructure in time to host Eurovision next year. Anyone else who points out the obvious deficiencies is a naysayer and talking the area down.

I think we would be a great signing but would inevitably lead to departures. We just can’t fit all of those attacking players in one side.
