Re: When Watson and Mitchell took over…
Just look at that, we were 15 points behind Blyth and 14 behind Farley Celtic. Wow.

Re: Games that matter to us - end of season
I think we actually have enough as it is as agreed with others that Blyth won't pick up another point this season. I expected Rushall to beat them. It's not comfortable until it's mathematically confirmed obviously. I just thank the good lord above that you'll be nowhere near the pre-match team tal...

Re: Massive credit to Watson and the board
It's very rare in a 46 game league at any level for a team to require 52, 53 or 54 points to secure 5th bottom spot, not unheard of but very unusual. Normally somewhere between 47 and 50 or so points would be enough for 5th bottom place. We might just happen to have picked a more freakish season to ...

Re: Games that matter to us - end of season
Even if you were in relatively good form, you wouldn't want your last two games to be Scunny and Brackley. But in Blyth's case the picture is even bleaker as they have lost their last 3 games and have just 4 wins in 2024. It looks even tougher when you read their fans saying of yesterday's demoralis...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Saturday Apr 06th 2024
You know that we've once again become respected, and feared, when the Chester fans say they are desperately hoping that we are safe by the time we face them on the last day of the season... purely selfish reasons of course . They are backing us 100% against Farsley!

Re: The Bottom Ten, Saturday Apr 06th 2024
There could be one further, potentially huge, complicating factor that may come into play. Rushall have said nothing about whether they will be able to complete their crucial and extensive ground grading work. This includes a new seated stand, new floodlights with new columns, new turnstiles and maj...

Re: Darlington V Southport
Good workmanlike game management today after going two goals in front. It was a stupid decision by Southport to play against the wind after winning the toss, I assume because they didn't want us to attack the Tinshed in the second half (like most teams opt for if they win the toss here). Why decide ...

Don't recall reading this anywhere but the man accused of murdering our former player Osagi Bascome in Bermuda in December 2021 has been found not guilty. Unfortunately it means no justice for his family as the police have said there are no further suspects although they have appealed for any furthe...

Re: Easter Monday at Warrington Town
Whatever he thought he heard, you'd have hoped that after a pro career of more than 900 games and involvement with the PFA, he would have had more sense than to go on like that with supporters over a prolonged period, especially so with his offer to sort it out after the game.

I wasn't there but maybe Peter Clarke misheard and thought he'd said: "Break his legs." Clarke's getting on a bit and may have had his hearing aids switched off.

Re: Easter Monday at Warrington Town
They've got two players who've scored 28 goals between them this season. They also can be a handful at set-pieces judging by the fact that both their goals at Scarboro came from corners. We'll need to defend a helluva lot better than in our last two games.

Re: The Bottom Ten, Friday Mar 29th 2024
Farsley showed signs of toughening up at the back in their 0-0 draw with Southport following an awful run. Not so much of an attacking threat from either side though. Southport by all accounts had no shots on target and Farsley one. I wouldn't like it to be between us and Farsley on the final day. W...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
Losing at home to Chorley is not going to decide our season, but the next few games will. We probably need 7 points. I thought it was a very AA type performance today rather than a Gowling one. We made no headway on the left at all, and Griffiths was our only outlet on the right, but his delivery w...

Re: The Bottom Ten, Tuesday Mar 26th 2024
Don't think Bishop's Stortford will be springing any surprises, including when they play Rushall. Steve Smith, their owner/manager, said: "April 20 can't come soon enough for me." He's still raging about being placed in the North rather than the South: "I lost half my squad. Financially it's cripple...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
It would be a real surprise if he's able to make a meaningful contribution in the final 5 games of the season. He's been out so long now that he's probably still in need of this "mini pre-season" that was talked about months ago. He's very clearly been injured, unfit and fragile over a very long per...

Re: Darlington V Chorley
In a nutshell, they are at some stage heading for a meltdown. In February there were reports of an HMRC winding up petition which the club said was simply the result of an oversight and clerical error. This latest step with the ownership really should be ringing alarm bells with supporters.

Re: Darlington V Chorley
Clayton Donaldson at Farley is sounding like someone who has completely run out of ideas now. He was complaining about players whose "heads are down" and "body language is all wrong." Without wishing to tempt fate, if that goes on then points could really be hard to come by for them on the run-in.

Re: Darlington V Chorley
What we need to aim for is to start the game in the manner that we went about the Scunny game. Chorley have occasionally been slow starters, as in their last match against Boston, and we need to get at them from the off with help from what should be a decent crowd. It would be good to go some way to...
