Re: Bobby Moore

West Ham's & England's Bobby Robson was so distraught at full time that he battered a kid's autograph book into the Feethams mire. 2 Darlo players followed him into the tunnel and applied rough justice. One of the Darlo players told me that Robson moaned to him about the "Darlo" assault that game at...

Re: Cocks & Mitchell

Mitchell has played at right back and centre half, when I have seen him pre-season. He was captain of the kids team and our youth oriented manager rates him highly. Cocks has been used to spell off other players in midfield. Both are ready for adult competitive football elsewhere, now that Darlo hav...

Re: Blackwell Meadows planning application submitted

The point DFC need a clear green light in early May, so any pitch upgrades, lucrative pre-season friendlies and all other preparations can be arranged in time.

Why has the pre-application browsing by the LA taken a MONTH so far if the LA, as part of the CIA, was so involved up front?

Re: Saturday's game unlikely?

Some covering against and forking against puddles may do the trick, but weather prevailing on Saturday morning is key. Consett have an all weather pitch, possibly without satisfying the H&S seat fetish, but I suppose any re-arranging of a venue takes weeks with the league and the police (dont know w...

Re: Blackwell Meadows planning application submitted

I suspect the local authority is already creating a "planning" delay to the pre-browsing and then maybe the actual application process to make themselves look necessary & to spend ratepayer's money on themselves, for what effecively is "no change of use" effecting no neighbouring properties. There m...

Re: Nathan Cartman

I cant see Hatch being released. He is cover up front for the usual knocks and strains. He is also decent cover for our regular suspensions and injuries at the back. He is also a good super-sub whenever we really need to power in a late goal. Darlo desparately need ex fans to return, so losing a for...

Re: Nathan Cartman

Beat Salford to the signing! I predict that Amar will return to a relatively free wing role. Thompson, Galbraith or Scott may lose out, or more likely spell each other off in games. Cartman is more of a finisher in the box, so I suspect, whenever he's fit, he will be the No. 1 choice up front. With ...

Re: Ken Hale RIP

Ken was hard but fair, which was quite an exception with stocky players in the 60's.

He was particularly good at taking quick and accurate throw-ins.

He was a bit of a leader to the other midfielders, especially in the opponent's half.

Didn't score many, but started a lot of attacking moves off.

Re: Ken Hale RIP

I remember Ken as a hard working numbers 10, who played right behind the front two. He was stocky and was in a deeper Scott rather than a free Thommo role. He had been a team mate of Lance Ireland (of Birmingham DAFTS fame) in an Army team, so I suspect his fitness may have come from a PE background...

Re: Not a good forecast for this weekends game.

Theres not many shady areas to cover if there is a forecast frost. Darlo players however may be a bit out of match practice and, like Ramsbottom B, could play a practice game (ideally at Consett?)

Re: Arsenal fans behind the goal?

Scott and Thompson have been heroes for Darlo, but are not currently at their best, probably because Darlo have been resorting to more of a long ball game in 2014, rather than the previous pressurising and passing game of 2013. The change has made games tighter, appear more scrappy and less entertai...

Re: Darlington Exiles

The DAFTS website is Worth a visit. Numbers of exiles have reduced at games, due to the Northnesss and maybe the level of football after years of Club mismanagement. There was however at least 1,000 exiled fans, mainly in cities, some years ago, who were surprised at how many fellow fans lived near ...

Re: Salford away

Rather than get wound up again by another Club and their management, we should try to get a massive support behind the Darlo team for what is a very important game. We should be wary of the new Ramsbottom / Salford combo, but neither of the 2 teams have put the boat out so far and there may be some ...

Good turn-out from the Darlo fans- well done. The following must be a great factor to the team's away points haul. Coupled with a return to town, there may be a similar effect from supporters at home next season.

Re: Kendal vs Darlington ~ MATCH THREAD

The two lighter wingers were left out and protected from ankle injuries, or a lot worse.

It looks like some other derby games were ding-dong battles, played in Heavy rain, mud and wind, so Darlo may have an advantage over their rivals on Saturday.

It seems the "Application" is only a pre-read before the real "Application". I have heard that the planning cycle and build period are expected to be 6 weeks and 8 weeks respectively if there are no hitches. Its such a shame that we lost the atmosphere and charm of Feethams, so many kids only experienced a dreary time at the Reynolds flakey folly. We should to try to make amends with the kids getting special considerations to promote some fun at the new "in town" venue.

Makes a lot of sense for DFC not to be subsidising DRFC semi-pro players, when 98% plus of the income from crowds, sponsorships, advertising, grants etc will be raised from the DFC side.
