Re: Players on radar
Wheater looked promising when he was fit but his body can’t do it anymore. Maddison was a gamble worth taking but hadn’t paid off. As has been said earlier, Mondal’s record on paper looked to be a superb signing, but he hasn’t cut it. Personally, I much prefer Griffiths to Hedley, but I’m not in cha...

Re: Peterborough Sport v Darlo
I firmly believe that AA will decide his own future dependent on the resources and budget he is given for next season.
If we are facing significant cuts, he’ll walk.

In the cold light of day - this spells out the number one issue.
What rankles me about this season is that it could have been done, a playoff place could have been secured, but for the points drought of 23.
One sodding point.

Re: So Faverdale or Skerningham
I remember a few people booting off because the club had a meeting with Nadine Dorries, letting their political bias cloud the fact the club needs to engage with politicians of all persuasions if they want to get things done. If these people were in business themselves they'd soon realise that some...

Re: We Can Still Reach Play-offs Ginge.
We can't get to sixth mathematically that I can see, but we can be seventh. This would be a really wild set of results with a ll of teams finishing tied on 67 points. Gloucester 1-0 Chorley Peterborough 0-1 Darlington, we have to win Scarborough 0-1 Banbury, Scarborough has to lose Chester 1-0 Buxt...

Re: Darlington v Curzon Ashton Tuesday April 18th2023
Another major decision from a referee which didn’t go our way, although whether we could of scored against 10 is debatable. I didn’t think we played that bad in the first half, but the second half was dreadful. Can’t believe these players were the same ones who were contributing to such excellent f...

Sensible words, as ever, from David. There is nothing in there to "put Alun's future in genuine doubt", it's what should always happen when there is some unrest. Exactly this. DJ has read the room, and social media, and is attempting to calm the waters. He is level headed to know the wheels have fa...

Re: South Shields
South Shields are already a full time team who can pay bigger wages than us, so not sure anything has really changed, except that they are now in the same league as us. Asking a player to drop to the NLN can be hard enough, asking them to drop to the NPL even harder. Shields will probably pip us to...

After my experience at York's LNER stadium a week last Saturday I'm warming to Blackwell Meadows too...... a bit! Despite pre-buying tickets the night before we couldn't gain entrance. It took nearly an hour of queuing and hassle to get in and the staff were crap because they don't work for the clu...

Re: Andrew Nelson signs again
Purver is a significant upgrade on Wheatley and Moke is similar in box-to-box player to Hatfield but they are different in playing style. Moke is more technical, athletic and creative whereas Hatfield was stronger, more aggressive and more of a goal threat. We lack a leader at the back in the mould ...

He is a sensible signing for me and we've nothing to lose.
Personally, I don't think scoring goals is our issue, but conceding is.
I'd invest the Beck wages into a commanding centre back.

As yet still no confirmation of mark Beck leaving from the official Darlington FC website. Has he /hasn't he,????? It’s probably a really tough decision he will be mulling over at length. Would Solihull be his first choice to move back into professional football? With the greatest respect, unlikely...

Re: Is football cancelled?
The real logistical battle for football is the sheer number of the members of emergency services supporting the infrastructure of the games given the size of football compared to other sports. Should the games have been postponed this weekend? Possibly not. However, next weekend, they likely will (a...

We’re away to two sides in the bottom four next in AFC Telford and Bradford PA (neither of which we won last season). That’ll be a big indicator of our progress. If we’re on track for promotion two victories would be a really positive sign.

Its a windfall and it gives breathing space but it shouldn't MENA we don't sign players who are good enough, fit in with what we need because they don't have a sell on value. Reality is Beck has many options to stay full time in NLN even if he doesn't get fixed up elsewhere. As he's Sunderland base...

I think Cassidy brings the best out of a quality strike partner.
For me, the priority is to replace Charman’s goals, not Cassidy.

Re: New Signing or Signings
I have sympathy for AA with Charman and Hatfield both leaving. But we have to accept we are faced with another rebuild. I disagree. We’ve lost two phenomenal players for this level but the general squad is in a far, far healthier place than the summer and early season. We’ve now got a solid keeper ...

Re: New Signing or Signings
I understand your logic but I see it from the other side of the coin. We, essentially, have a potentially very talented group of players on trial until the end of the season. If they settle and fit in, we can sign pre-contract agreements; if not, we shake hands and move on to other targets. I think ...

Re: Fylde v Darlo
A 4G pitch would only need to be changed if we were to reach the Football League, as Harrogate Town did when they were promoted. That certainly wouldn't put me off. Ideally, two 4G pitches could be installed to ramp up revenue generation; one as part of the main stadium and a secondary training pitch.

This result has really made me deeply question Alun and his team for the first time.
We’ve blown hot and cold for quite a while but today is completely unacceptable.
Personally, if this isn’t improved by the end of the season, I’d shake hands and move on.

Re: Luke charman
I may be in the minority that thinks we've done really good business on several levels with Charman. 1) By adding an alleged release clause, we were able to retain an extremely talented player for NLN level rather than lose him on a free and guarantee a reasonable income for the club should another ...

Re: Luke Charmans value
I'd expect around £50k, but the real value is in the player he turns into in a few years time and if we're hoping to make real money on him this can only really be done through his next move or the one after - no non-league player is going to sell for 6-figures but a league 1/2 player quite possibl...

Is it just me or is anyone else thinking that this rebuild is not going well?
