Re: West Auckland Boycott Mega Thread!! (keep posts here ple
Hark at you lot! Ooh this stadium is too big! Ooh that team are charging £2 more than us! Ooh there is reasonable evidence that that team hang monkeys so I dont like them! So - if next season we have a good FA cup run and get to play, say, Hartlepool and are still at a 2000 capacity ground, then wil...

Re: Reading between the lines
I think £8 is a reasonable compromise. Its whats we will be charging their fans. I can remember away fans (us) being forced to pay £19 for seats at Stockport about 10 years ago when home fans had access to cheaper areas. This happened elsewhere too. What West are doing is fairer than that. Its just ...

Didn't we used to count in thousands once!
1562 but we could add 60% if we were back in the town.

Re: Thoughts on Today
This was my second game this season and the first was Consett (a 5-0) win. But this was much better, the team are starting to gel and looked a different level. The style of play will cause us to take risks at the back but 53 goals in 15 games cant be argued with. But most of all hasn't MG done a fan...

Re: Darlo vs S Shields
South shields signed ra's leading goal scorer Steve Allinson yesterday. He scored twice in the preseason friendly. Wonder if he's registered in time? He is all registered so I guess expect him to play last night. Signed another player as well - Scott Donaldson from Chester le Street. As long as we ...

Good luck to him. He, like many other chairmen, was treat so badly by about a third of our 'fans'. Ever wondered why nobody stepped in last season. You're having a laugh aren't you? I suppose visiting fans at ungodly hours of the morning and braying on their doors is acceptable? But yeah, of course...

I thought we'd left this behind in the 70's and 80's (credit to the younger fans here).
We have the technology however, so if this happens again - out with the phones and pass the footage to the police - (and not to U-Tube).
Got to nip this in the bud.

At least its the smallest and cheapest stucture we have wasted money on.

Show them some support and go and sit in it.

Re: Spenny going up.....
The champions and the runners-up of Division One are eligible for promotion to Division One North of the Northern Premier League, subject to certain criteria.
So say wikipedia

Someone correct them if this is not the case.

Re: Tonight's attendance
Maybe just me but arena at £8/£10 would have doubled last nights attendance. If thats not sustainable then mute point, but don't think it would be as expensive to run stadium if their were a grounds share option with the Rugby Club. But we'll never know. Not that I'm huge fan of a huge empty stadiu...

Re: Is It True About Our Stay At Bishop
I think 800 down is about right, if not 1000. £8 instead of £18 Winning Team Top of League verses lower level 3 factors to 1 that would increase attendance at any venue. Not to mention at Christmas we could go way past 2000 for the Bishop game if we were at the Arena. And Im not blind to the better...

This would never have happened at the Arena!
Unless you had a huge periscope I suppose.
Mind you, can you remember how many used to sneak along the Skerne into Feethams?
Bet some of them have paid back far more in the years since.

Re: Mowden park and the arena
I think you need to have this debate after a good soaking in the rain at HP. I'm getting sick of hearing 'White Elephant' and 'One Mans vanity'. Its too big and its too small are phrases that I can understand. Being in the Stockport area I can tell you that County sharing with Sale has created a pit...

Re: Mowden Park Rugby Club - The Arena!?
I vowed to give up on the club when we left the Arena cause I thought the Chairman bashing pack animals had finally ripped the club in two..... but today I went to my first game at HP and came to the following conclusions. 1) It is possible to create something better than Feethams. 2) The biggest pr...

Re: Attendance 1513 50/50 0243
We're a long, long way from league football, though I'd agree a stadium with a 6-8,000 capacity has to be the end goal. Also, I think we have to conclude that if the stadium is not central and the club can point at lots of carparks the council will insist on 1 parking space for every 4 capacity lik...

Re: Attendance 1513 50/50 0243
I understand that the arena can't be DFC s arena and needs to be fully utilsised by more than a DFC match day, and Bishops spent a decade as nomads I do hope that is not the future for Darlo. I'd rather be a nomad for a decade than be lumbered at the arena. Somehow, that place needs to go, and some...

Re: Attendance 1513 50/50 0243
Talking of the Arena, I liked it and hoped we could be viable there - maybe we could above L2 with the TV money etc. But to be honest after going to HP last night and seeing how relatively well populated it was with 1,500 in it, it was a breath of fresh air. My brother has been to every game this s...

Re: Attendance 1513 50/50 0243
Cost to play at Bishop around 10k. Cost to play at The Arena around 270k. Both costs are not including staffing as far as I'm aware...so how does community spirit and willing volunteers trim that 270k? This overlooking the £40K already spent to add 250 seats and the £million to get upto division 4 ...

Re: Attendance 1513 50/50 0243
From an exile point of view Feethams occassionally had this problem but I think I may as well forget it this season and beyond. If only there were a place with capacity in the town.

Re: Arena Future
It occurs to me that the formula for a good atmosphere is quite simple. 1) Fans on all sides of the ground and close to the pitch. 2) No enclosed corners - looks great outside but is crap inside. I'd keep 1 stand at the Arena and build 3 small terraces/stands. Job done if S&S or whoever can build th...

Whilst acknowledging the atmosphere issue, a scaled down stadium on the same site with these other developments is the most logical way forward unless a deal with a return to Feethams could be worked into the equation.

Could we not just have bought one of the temporary Olympic stands from Lords or Horseguards or the rowing or ... and then sell it on again later. Macc had one that held about 1000 for a couple of seasons.
