Re: Good timing for the bury and crewe games?
I think supporters are entitled to make their feelings known at half time or full time by booing if that's what they want to do. So long as they cheer the players at the start of a game and back onto the pitch for the second half and support them during the game I don't see the problem. Presumably i...

Re: BBC: The Football League Show
I thought it was fairly decent. I liked the more relaxed approach than MOTD for the same reason that I prefer MOTD2. MOTD has the same self satisfied, smug approach that Sky has and I find it off-putting. Both the new show and MOTD2 treat football as more of a game to be enjoyed, rather than taking ...

Re: Feedback from Tonight
I was stood by the main gate waiting for my lift after the match and watched the traffic leaving. There's not a lot the club can do about it taking so long. It was moving pretty constantly but, as you can only turn left, and there only two lanes, people have to wait. The club could have any number o...

Re: New Keeper required ! - and one or two other observations
Just read the Echo report. Are the players ratings picked out of a hat ? Grella got 6, I thought he was excellent and was pleased to see him go off. Showunmi got 7, which was their highest score and, other than the goal, I thought he was a bit of a plank. Most of our players scored higher than their...

Re: New Keeper required ! - and one or two other observations
Last night was my first look at the new team. Overall I thought we did fairly well and there were more positives than negatives. The only areas that concerned me were the keeper (though he did knock around a higher level long enough to suggest that he must have some ability and may improve with conf...

I'm told they're aiming for Friday but it could be Monday, so, if it doesn't happen tomorrow, don't be thinking the worst.

A team taken from that season . . 2-2 draw with Pools. With the obvious exception of Liddle I can't see a better outfield player than Conlon . . Darlington: Collett ,Valentine (sent off 56),Liddle ,Pearson ,Clarke ,Betts ,Maddison ,Keltie ,Nicholls ,Mellanby (Hodgson ,59 ) ,Conlon Subs not used: Cl...

If they all win I think it's nine or ten grand, if they all finish top 3 it's about £280. Big difference.

Yeah you could get 33s. Sad thing for me is that I told a mate they might be worth a punt and he took 33s, I delayed putting my bet on and they were 12s.

Re: How do we get out of Division 2?
If we sign the players he has agreed contracts with and can bring in another 2 or 3 on loan then we have a good chance of a top half finish with an outside sniff of the play offs. It would be down to luck with injuries, and we're due a season of luck on that front.

Re: The truth -what is going on??
When we're talking about people's livelihoods etc you would think that there would be something in the Football League's constitution to enable them to call an extraordinary general meeting to deal with situations such as this. Leaving it until after the season has started is unacceptable.

Re: The truth -what is going on??
Do the administrators care if the players are signed before the season? No. Do the administrators care if we lose half of our players because of this? No. What I don't understand is why we cannot sign players now, clubs in administration CAN sign players, why are we a special case? The answers to y...

Re: Admin
I thought we could be in administration for up to 18 months without a further points deduction. I think it's the shift from George to Raj and their previous/continued involvement with the club that would cause us problems.

As none of us were privy to the conversations and agreements in place between the club and the players it seems a bit harsh to be condemning the club as going back on their word.

Re: Absolute Garbage Tonite In More Ways Than 1
Friendlies mean absolutely fuck all and the way teams play pre-season has no impact whatsoever on how they play once the season starts. Predicting that we'll be rubbish on the basis of the Sunderland game is as stupid as predicting that we'll do great on the basis of the Billingham game. I never go ...

Re: O/T - Anyone having a bet on the Open Golf?
I did that with Duval at the US. I'd backed Casey at the start and then after 2 rounds Duval was lying 6th, but for some reason PP had him at 55-1, so it was a nice little each way bet.
