Re: Darlington V Kettering

Think today should put an end to the worrying about how we cope with injuries. All three who came in today had good games. Watson was solid, O'Neill was excellent and Bascombe surprised me. Thought he was outstanding. The quick free kick he took to find Thommo which led to Rivers' goal was brilliant...

Re: Trotman out for the season

We use the squad that has been assembled. There's options within the squad (Watson, Atkinson and Holliday) who can come in. If it's not working out then there's the loan market. All of the above before we think about raising extra funds. Who knows - a couple of cup wins may give us some extra budge...

Re: Saturday

Listen to Armstrong's interview. He says that he doesn't want them hitting long balls, so it's not his tactic, it's a player response to the opposition preventing us playing the way Armstrong wants.

Re: Gateshead game...

Personally thought Laing struggled first half, but got better second. Same as the rest of the team. Gateshead were comfortable for 70 minutes. Donawa made a difference. Williamson strolled through the game. First half reminiscent of last season. Lot of passes but pushed back by press and ending in h...

See he scored for Hereford against The Pride of County Durham at the weekend. Hadn't realised he'd gone there. Took his goal well.

Re: farsley away

Unfortunately the bus with the usual suspects is apparently setting off at 8.30 and heading into the centre of Leeds where they will no doubt stay until just before kick off then turn up totally inebriated. This combined with a warm day and no segregation is a recipe for disaster, as we have seen i...

Not saying we should have expected to beat them comfortably, no. I'm saying don't put too much faith in a pre-season friendly result.

Re: Expectations 19/20

Gramps is right. Let's not get ahead of ourselves because we've beaten Boro's kids in a pre-season friendly. I hardly think that equates to the title not being beyond us. We look better placed than last season, but remember how far off we were last season. Yes, we've got 5 of Blyth's play off side b...

Perhaps he was protecting him? Could see he hadn't physically matured enough, and throwing him into a struggling team would have done him more harm than good.

Think we’re gonna need a big target-man type of player for Campbell to work off of.
Armstrong has never used that set-up. Can't see him starting now.

Still think we're lacking more of a target man in the team up who can hold the ball up front to take some pressure off the defence when needed.
Not the way Armstrong plays.

I see that they have already had one preseason friendly in which Cartman scored a hat trick. I wonder if Campbell has ever heard of a hat trick.
An example of the Darlo Fans I hate, and why, Darlogramps! Think our scapegoat for the season is already cast.

Re: Adam Campbell

Well he scored more goals and had a longer career than Thommo did at that level. Also, at that level, Barnet fans reckon Nicholson was one of their worst signings ever. Let's see what he can do at this level before comparing him unfavourably with fan's favourites.

I’ve only done it once for my birthday and it cost £35 for my mate and £30 for me as a season ticket holder. So it actually cost me nearer £40. Work that one out!

Has Jameson become a decent keeper since he left us? He always was a decent keeper. IMO he was very good in the Evostik and competent in the NLN, even when he started making mistakes. Half of the fan base had an exaggerated dislike of his abilities. It's probably likely that he has improved since t...

Saw Amar purwal play for west Auckland against Chertsey town in the fa vase last season he was marked out of the game - trust.me he is only a shadow of his former self and definitely not national League north standard. Every call for funds taps into the same core people. Always has and no doubt always will. It's getting the other 700 or so regulars to commit that's our issue. Obviously some may not be able to, but a good proportion will. It's understanding why they won't to see if there's anything that can be done...

The demise he refers to is in our no longer being a league club, and County Durham not therefore having one. That is true. He even says he takes no pleasure in it. Why every statement anyone makes nowadays has to be seen to offend somebody baffles me.

Re: Today’s Playoffs

Was missing out on the Chandler, Ramshaw and Fewsters not part of the reason we had to shop in the Midlands? No, it wasn't. We shopped in the Midlands because Wright had links there, and knew players from the region. And they were definately our rivals in NL. We competed against them for the title....
