Re: If we'd had our current team last season.
Also Thompson clearly does not just have pace about him. He is very strong on the ball. His first touch is genuinely cock arousing and he can beat a player with ease. His issue is without doubt finishing but he also creates a shed load. Don't think I said that Thompson just has pace. All I said is ...

Re: If we'd had our current team last season.
We might as well have had a mannequin dummy up front. Or Michael Smith. But preferably the mannequin. A man who can't see the qualities of Michael Smith and you want me to listen to your views on Broughton! Broughton wasn't what we were used to, but his touch was nowhere near as bad as you are sugg...

Re: If we'd had our current team last season.
On Broughton, he never stood a chance. The amount of abuse he got before he had even pulled on a shirt was ridiculous. In the games I saw him I actually thought he held the ball up ok and he played the ball into the right areas. He was easy to point the finger at because he was slow and ungamely but...

If it was £50,000.02 then it was between 50k and 100k. In fact if that was the case he wouldn't be wrong to say "It is between 50k & 350million".

Re: Game off today
I'm wondering if the winds help dry pitches out at all. I don't know whether it would have an impact or not really - I can only assume if the water is spread out it can evaporate easier. Slightly warmer winds as well on the West than on the East could that have a slight impact upon evaporation as we...

please don't tell me the North West has had less rain than us. Been no rain in Liverpool or Manchester. Maybe not yesterday, but you'll have had your fair share this year. Ah right, thought you specifically meant yesterday. What impact does being this side of the Pennines have, given the ol' prevai...

Re: Players suited and booted
This is purely speculating. I would have thought those on contracts may be on £50-£150 per week basic but that would be BASIC (no match played etc.). These will probably be bumped up with £20-£100 appearance fees (depending which end of the scale you are the higher your basic the lower your appearan...

So it would be cheaper for us to pay it in expenses.super_les_mcjannet wrote:What we pay will be after Tax/NI. So take home would be £150 and then expenses if we pay them.
We might say to player there are no 'additional' expenses being paid - but it would be cheaper for us to claim a proportion as expenses payments.

Re: Players suited and booted
I remember it being posted on here at the start of the season that we don't pay expenses. Well that's not something to be proud of. If we go by micra's figures - you pay a player £150 - that player is only taking home £120 after being taxed at 20%. Why would we say no expenses, theoretically for a ...

Yes. I remember this was said about Theo Walcott as well, but when put on the spot whether his new contract stalled because of £10k per week he couldn't have deflected the question any quicker!micra3 wrote:Also remember MG has said that no player he has signed has done so for money.

Re: Players suited and booted
Not sure how/if say West Auckland pay tax/NI or if they is a way round this that we don't do as we don't have a money man. There is, it's called expenses. I bet if you delved into the Northern League club finances you would be amazed as the distances which players are having to travel for games - b...

DFC players earn between £50 min to £150 max basic per week Where did you get your info from? That doesn't seem enough given where our players have come from. What's wrong with playing on a wet pitch? or a snow covered pitch? or a frozen pitch? Are we all getting soft to need to call a game off if the conditions aren't right? You want a root cause? Re: Pitch Cover Fund
This has been discussed before but I was told quickly we had other priorities. Pitch covers would be an asset, something which the club will own. If we had covers we could have had a couple of Saturday games on at least. Not having these games on is costing us much needed Saturday revenue. So I tho...

Re: 5 years from now ?
I thought 5 year plan was 2 promotions? That would see us in Evostick Premier in 5 years. Which suggests to me that only after that time was it seen viable by the previous board to have a ground to then get into BSN (that's my guess as to the reason behind that timescale anyway!). I think we could g...

Re: Players suited and booted
I know it's a menial thing but I do think it's a nice touch. It is compulsory for match officials in the Northern League (it's compulsory in the Teesside League for that matter) to turn up in a suit and it does add an air of professionalism about the whole set up. Good move in my book - certainly no...

Yeh but then someone independently asked the FA and the FA responded directly that it was up to the league.
