Matchday Umbrellas

Post by dfc1883 » Fri May 11, 2012 9:38 am

I can picture the scene later in the year when it's going to rain a great deal on matchdays.

Hopefully there might be just too many fans to fit in the shed and seating areas if it is raining, which means some people are going to be left out in the soaking rain.

Do you think it would be a wise idea for us to get a job lot of cheap umbrellas maybe in black and white and unbranded if we can find them? (scarf lady could branch out here).

People are not likely to bring them back every single match, so we could have multiple sales to the same person here.

"later in the year when it's going to rain".....have you looked out of the window recently :)
...some of us have spent years of our life on the open terraces @Feethams without a brolly....as a fund raiser, brill idea,....as a way of getting a smack in the chops from the fans around you...even better!!!
...now a £1 Darlo waterproof disposable poncho........with advertising....mmmmmm

Both ideas are good. The ponchos have the advantage that they will be incredibly easy to store, but I think there would be a market for a DFC umbrella too.

Great idea - we're definitely going to need something like that.

Or we can get a huge gazebo and put it up on match days - thereby keeping a bit of rain off in the bad weather and a bit of sun off in the better weather. lol

Real men don't need umbrellas.
DARLO FANATIC

Supporting DARLO might be a heartache but it's a heartache I chose to have.

Being a newbie on the footie scene not done the standing in the rain scenario yet (boy have I got some great things to look forward to lol) however I`ve been to many concerts and I can vouch the minute someone near me puts up a brolly and blocks my view then I become very unladylike.
However the poncho`s - this idea I love and will pass it on :-)

Echoing what Charlie has said, umbrellas may not be best in a crowd (he says, optimistically), but if someone can get some cheap, black and white ponchos then that would be great.
I already have a pack-a-mac for bad weather but if the dfc ponchos are good value I'll get 3.

Also... "Scarf lady"? I really hope that catches on...

Good idea. £6 for a pack of 10, black or white available (plus other colours). Could sell both black and white.

go me!!!!

Black and white poncho's filling a terrace at shildon !!!

Take that monkeyhanger smurf!

i'll buy some to wear about town.....we could even convince the traitorous people from darlo that blindly follow the toon, that it's for their team....

£1/poncho...good value on a rainy day (of which there'll be many)

1/ Get disposable ones, more revenue over the year.
2/ Flog plain ones to visiting fans.
3/ get a sponsor?

I have thought of umbrellas and ponchos myself.
Also thinking of those portable, folding camping chairs - would we be allowed to take them in?
Anywhere in Shildon ground for us to set up a little club shop?

Karen is dealing with the retail side of things and we need to raise as much money as possible so any help in sourcing providers and prices is appreciated. Great ideas too, keep them coming.
