Gateshead
Looks like a successful season could be in the offing for them - still about 10 teams that can qualify for the play offs but Gateshead seem to be getting results when it matters.
Just been having a look at their squad and quite interestingly 13 from the 16 today are born and bred in the north east, so just goes to show there's a decent talent pool available without having to pay a fortune to tempt and relocate lads from down South. Now I'm sure they won't be on peanuts and we all know their chairman must be subsidising by hundreds of thousands each season but it's good to think we can climb up the leagues without having to cast the net too far.

Re: Gateshead
Yep you would hope that we could tap in to the same pool as Gateshead. Our issue is competing with them on wages they have proved it before that they can afford players we can't on smaller crowds
Am I right in thinking only Gateshead, Whitby and Blyth exist above us as non league North East teams? Maybe that just shows how much part time talent the Northern League is sapping?

Re: Gateshead
More impressive is what is going on at Halifax and Braintree. Both part time teams hitting form when it matters most. The Halifax "model" shows what can be done in the face of adversity. The Shay looks most impressive these days and they share it now with Blue Sox rugby league. Braintree could be the dark horses for a league place but my money would be on Grimsby .... Another team hitting form just at the right time. Good luck to them all.

didnt know that , would explain a lot tho
Re: Gateshead
If Newcastle don't get shot of Pardew this summer then they might pick up some lapsed Newcastle season ticket holders.
But then Newcastle fans are the 'most passionate'* in the country so maybe not.
*Funny enough though Liverpool fans think they are as well, actually though so do Everton and some of the more longer serving Man City fans for that matter...

You are 3 leagues higher than us, and are only just beating our average crowd; whilst we play out of townHeedArmy09 wrote:Our average home gate for every competitive game this season has been 1,215, which i believe is higher than yourselves.davidcorks 40yard OG wrote:90 mins away from the football league now

Just had a look. Only 3 occasions this season have you had over 1,000 fans?HeedArmy09 wrote:Our average home gate for every competitive game this season has been 1,215, which i believe is higher than yourselves.davidcorks 40yard OG wrote:90 mins away from the football league now

v Luton (just over 1,000)
v Cambridge - final day of season to reach playoffs (2,300ish?)
v Grimsby - playoff semi final (8,000)
I think if you excluded the semi final you would be about 840.

Semi final isn't and won't be excluded. Fact of the matter - our average is 1,215 not 844

Your average could be 725 depending on how you calculate it and ours would be 1,081. Your mean might be 1,215 though.HeedArmy09 wrote:v Southport - 2900.lo36789 wrote:Just had a look. Don't suppose either team had a mode?
But, did you find each teams range?
Re: Gateshead
No but Gatesheads standard dev was around the 1,500 mark and ours was only 286ish.Fibonacci0112358 wrote:Don't suppose either team had a mode?

Whilst also adding in a one off play off semi final crowd of 8,000 (massively impressive, to be fair) in to fudge the average figure.AndyPark wrote: You are 3 leagues higher than us, and are only just beating our average crowd; whilst we play out of town
What is league average v league average? (and their final gate was 2,900, more than what our ground holds, and a crowd we can never have at present)
